I have the Sun Sniper strap; has the steel cable woven down the middle 
so "they" can't sneak up behind you, cut your strap & run off with your 
camera.

You might be able to find it for less.

I don't use the button that comes with it. The version I bought has a 
locking snap hook so I can hook it to the D-ring on my QR plate 
(Manfrotto RC2/200PL-14) & use the same strap when I change between the 
K10D & K20D.

Thanks for all the great replies. Actually not for me, rather for Stef.

Bob W bequeathed him a Lumaloop strap some time ago, like this one:



...but the quick release mech - although undoubtedly strong - causes
slight worry with the weight of an EOS-1DmIIn and 16-35/4 and sometimes
even a 420EX flash - that's some weight!

Situation resolved: the manfrotto QR plate (already part of his kit)
screwed into the tripod mount on the baseplate also has a D-rind
attached, so onto that clips a Lowepro Deluxe Shoulder Strap that I donated:





Appreciate the input folks, thanks again.

Aside: while researching, I came across what surely ranks as the most
useless camera accessory of all time

When working I use my camera constantly. Can't take it in and out of a bag or 
tie up a hand. What's more I can't afford a fumble that could cripple me for 
weeks.

I love my Luma Loop straps.  Unfortunately they don't make them any more 
(some patent dispute with black rapid I think).


I actually use my loop attached to one of the strap rings rather than the 
tripod screw/QR plate, I find it works better for me.  The quick release on 
the strap is very handy for those times I want to untether it from my 
shoulder (I also have a camdapter hand strap/QR plate on there for such 
occasions).


Luma have a new "Cinch" strap, but I've not tried it so can't really 
comment.  I seems to operate quite differently.


I always found the actual blackrapids somewhat bulkier, but others swear by 
them.


Either way, 'd never go back to a neckstrap now.. just seems so clunky and 
awkward.

Yep. I use a Black Rapid sling style strap. A steel loop screws into the trips 
hole and a swiveling steel hook connects to it. The hook attaches to a strap by 
means of a sliding loop. The strap hangs off the opposite shoulder with the 
camera at your side. You simply lift it to shoot. Works great. Will never go 
back to neck straps.

Not exactly what you are asking for, but FWIW...

I have used a simple attachment from strapbuddy.com (via B&H or Adorama). A 
simple circular plate with slightly offset slot. Attach plate to camera, strap 
to slot, other end of strap to left-side lug on camera, and the camera is 
oriented vertically rather than horizontally. Like you could do on the LX with 
the front grip extender IIRC. Simple, secure, easy to attach, cheap.

Works ok, I have sworn off straps for the time being, will reassemble 
everything the next time I am in a travel-with-two-cameras mode.

Please don't me angry. Sorry to say that I didn't knew that part of

The previous owner of my LX used a metal "dog chain" on the camera. The
damage it did to the corners was significant. The camera, when I got it, had
been used very little and the rest was excellent and verified by Pentax.
