Re: Seattle suggestions?
John, Some great shots there that I haven't seen. Love the red-tailed hawk, the two cars in a turn at the San Jose race and a number of others. You have to tell us when you post new ones:-). Re: Seattle suggestions?
both ferries leave from approx the same place (side by side) as can be shown at wsdot.wa.gov/ferries and are timed so that you can often take photos of the one ferry from the other ferry. Bainbridge ferry (35-40min?) takes less time than bremerton ferry (60 min). You might also try one of the argosy cruises. Seattle is a fairly big place not to have a car. You might try http://tripplanner.metrokc.gov/ (sorry - it's a fairly big place not to have a good bus system too) On 10/23/07, Tom C [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: The Seattle-Bremerton route will provide lots of opportunities for shots of the Seattle skyline and expansive views of Mt. I'll second that - the two most recent shots in my Picture-A-Week gallery http:///www.jfwaf.com/PAW were taken on the mid-day Argosy Locks cruise, which lasts 2.5 hours or so. Re: Seattle suggestions?
Thanks, Skye. I'll look into the Argosy cruises. I really like to walk (just ask anyone who has come on a Philly PDML!), and so the transportation problems don't seem overwhelming. Dang, John, there are some really nice shots there; and unless I'm mistaken you've kept most of them closely guarded secrets! Does the Bremerton ferry give you more worthwhile scenery for the extra 20 min each way? Why, thank you. There's no secret - I try and update the gallery every weekend - but because they're mostly snapshots I rarely mention them on the PDML unless (like the shot of Petunia at the end of September) I feel I've achieved something a little more than that. Does the Bremerton ferry give you more worthwhile scenery for the extra 20 min each way? I'm afraid I can't help you there. Both my shots from the locks cruise (and a whole lot more besides) came on a single day I had to myself in Seattle after a business trip - as I wasn't prepared to get up in time for a 6:30am flight I had to take one at 8:30pm. Fortunately, as you can see, I had great weather. --- John Francis [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: On Wed, Oct 24, 2007 at 04:59:07PM -0700, skye pdml wrote: both ferries leave from approx the same place (side by side) as can be shown at wsdot.wa.gov/ferries and are timed so that you can often take photos of the one ferry from the other ferry. Seattle suggestions?
I'm going to have a couple of half-days to do some shooting in Seattle next week. It has been years since I was last there. I won't have a car. RE: Seattle suggestions?
The Seattle-Bremerton route will provide lots of opportunities for shots of the Seattle skyline and expansive views of Mt. Rainier over Puget Sound, weather permitting. I may have been on the other route, but can't remember. If you happen to be working or located down by Lake Union, there's the Seattle Center for Wooden Boats at the very south end of Lake Union that is free and interesting. Opportunities for shots like: http://pug.komkon.org/00febr/WoodenBoats.htm It's close to other marinas. Lots of good seafood restaurants in walking distance, but since you're from Boston, you're probably used to it. Tom C.
