Re: Smoothing out tan lines in lightroom?
The clone/heal tool in LR is only a spot brush. It's not really designed to do what you did. You can do it in a pinch, but it is sub-optimal. Don't know for light room, but I pulled image 20110806-LRC22495.jpg into photoshop, set the clone tool to 35% transparency and was able to quickly eliminate the dagger like tan line running down her chest and the shoulder lines. My edit was crude but you could easily clean with the healing brush. Do they not have those tools in lightroom? I only use Photoshop / ACR. I spend about 90 seconds on the image but I doubt that it would take more than 5 minutes to do a fully good clean up. Re: Smoothing out tan lines in lightroom?
You can try this in LR. It works pretty well for smoothing complexion and shadow problems. ** Using the brush tool, Set: Exposure = -4.00 Clarity = -100 Sharpness = -100 Adjust brush size & feather amount as necessary for the area you want to repair. Set flow to about 75 for starters Brush over the area you want to adjust - it will show as black so it's easy for you to see where you've brushed Return Exposure to zero and see if you like what you've done Repeat or re-do as necessary if you don't like what you see. Setting the flow to a higher value will strengthen the effect Set to a lower value for less effect. * If you can't get the results you want, then you'll have to move to PhotoShop, but I've had some good results using this method. -p On 11/27/2011 3:19 PM, Larry Colen wrote: Rebecca asked if I could smooth out tan lines in her upper arms in some photos from this photo shoot: www.flickr.com/photos/ellarsee/sets/72157627282460471 Rebecca is the brunette in the first four photos.
