as of last year, Canon made the most. Nikon the second most, both in terms of absolute dollars and in profit margin. Canon is the only one making money if you consider the digital PS camera divisions alone of all the players. Re: When Pentax DSLR with better crop level?
nothing has changed except that not everyone has announced their segment by segment breakdowns in the last couple of quarterly reports. Canon still makes more than Nikon in both absolute and profit margin in their camera divisions. the ones willing to break out compact vs DSLR have not made as much. Nikon doubled their expected sales of the D2X and that helped them make more money than they thought they would, but that was still less than Canon. Hallo, question for those who keep close in touch with digital-camera-market. = When there may appear on the market Pentax DSLR with better than 1.5 = crop. I expect they will introduce a full frame DSLR at the next Ulan Bator show. William Robb What leads you to believe this? Unless I've missed something, there doesn't seem to be any indication that Pentax will produce a dSLR with a 35mm-size sensor anytime in the forseeable future. RE: When Pentax DSLR with better crop level?
What make either of these predictions possible. HOW do you guys know what Pentax will or will not do in the near or distant future? For example they have put out 4 different DSLRs in just the last 2 years. Who predicted or would have even guessed that would come from them? I think the next Ulan Bator show is scheduled for sometime in the year 2525. Ulan Bator: When the temperature plummets to -30[degrees]C, the warmest place in Ulan Bator is the sewer. For the nearly 4,000 homeless children in Mongolia's capital, it is a stark choice: go underground or die. Kids crawl beneath the manhole covers to sleep, cook, play and try to make from this bleak netherworld a replacement for the homes they have escaped. Great place for a camera show! :) Tom C. For example they have put out 4 different DSLRs in just the last 2 years. Who predicted or would have even guessed that would come from them? Ok, aside from the fact that I got taken by an inside joke (::grins, shakes fist::) I just don't think Pentax can afford the risk involved with putting out a 35mm-size-sensor'd dSLR. That's really the meat potatoes here, as some people say (mm, meat and potatoes). Plus there's the question of whether corner sharpness would be good enough with wide-angle lenses, but I think this whole 35mm-vs-APS-C horse has been beaten enough. Re: When Pentax DSLR with better crop level?
Pentax may never change the sensor size on their 35mm body style dslr cameras. But even if they don't there will ceertainly be higher resolution, faster buffer cameras. This will drive down the price of the current offerings. KEH is now offering a used DS for around 550 and a used D for about 750. They're in the catalog I received yesterday, although they may have sold by now.
