I walked because I need the exercise & I don't want to be another of those idiots out on the roads. I could handle it if I had a job that required me to be out there, like a cop or fireman who had to go to work, but I don't, so I get to leave the car home. The street I live on never gets plowed. It's not important enough. For that I have dig myself out. Tomorrow is supposed to be up in the low 40s & I think the schools will be open again, so all the soccer moms in their SUVs will be running up & down the street and friction heating should take care of the slush. I don't know what's going on with the weather right now. I went outside a few minutes ago & there's a light misty rain AND snow falling simultaneously. Re: Winter Weather Advisory ... again UPDATE
Hopefully people in the icestorm areas have filled their bathtubs with water and have gas stoves. In the event of a long power outage, a big pot of water on the gas stove can generate a lot of heat (and helpful humidity). Put fridge and freezer contents in the garage (assuming colder than fridge temps). C Stan is correct... walking under any tree can be hazardous. A limb can break off at any moment, particularly if moved by a sudden breeze. Also, those limbs bring down power lines (the cause of many local outages).
