I don't know what right click menu you're talking about. This is a shell program that runs in a window and doesn't respond to mouse clicks - that would be the console window that does that. > So, why is it better (bigger) than the win98 original? cmd.exe didn't come with Win98. It cam with NT/2000/XP. There was a version of cmd.exe that was designed for use on 98 and that is the one I have there. It used to be available from M$, but I think they may have dropped it (not sure). -- ,-/- __ _ _ $Bill LuebkertMailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] (_/ / )// // DBE CollectiblesMailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] / ) /--< o // // Castle of Medieval Myth & Magic http://www.todbe.com/ -/-' /___/_<_http://dbecoll.tripod.com/ (My Perl/Lakers stuff) ___ Perl-Win32-Users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe: http://listserv.ActiveState.com/mailman/mysubs

You can get it on by Tripod site by getting the link for cmd.exe and modifying cmd to tcsh (since I don't have an HTML link in there yet). -- ,-/- __ _ _ $Bill LuebkertMailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] (_/ / )// // DBE CollectiblesMailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] / ) /--< o // // Castle of Medieval Myth & Magic http://www.todbe.com/ -/-' /___/_<_http://dbecoll.tripod.com/ (My Perl/Lakers stuff) ___ Perl-Win32-Users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe: http://listserv.ActiveState.com/mailman/mysubs

Re: command prompt problems.
Hi, Another user on this mailinglist ($Bill Luebkert) has the Windows 98 compatible cmd.exe on his webpage: http://dbecoll.tripod.com/ Last item in the first table: cmd.exe for Windows 9x (from Microsoft site originally - not findable there any more). I've used it in the past and as I recall it's just what you want. Don't thank me, thank $Bill for keeping this on his site ;-) Regards, Huub. - Original Message - From: "Beckett Richard-qswi266" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Thursday, October 30, 2003 3:19 PM Subject: command prompt problems. > Guys, > > I've installed perl at home on my W98 system. > > There are many reasons why I want to stick with w98, so changing OS is not > an option. > > The problem is, that I use the command prompt a lot when writing/debugging > scripts, but the w98 prompt is really crap. Re: command prompt problems.
Hi Richard, if you are familiar with Linux/Unix there are ports avalible from different shells like bash and zsh. If you'd like to have a complete environment of Linux/Unix stuff I can recommend using cygwin from http://www.cygwin.com Regards Alex Beckett Richard-qswi266 wrote: Guys, I've installed perl at home on my W98 system. There are many reasons why I want to stick with w98, so changing OS is not an option. The problem is, that I use the command prompt a lot when writing/debugging scripts, but the w98 prompt is really crap. It won't let you specify the size of the window and buffer, etc. So, has anyone found a way around this, or found a suitable alternative? I tried copying cmd.exe from a w2k system onto it, but it wouldn't run. Thanks.
