[Phono-L] Over a thousand cylinders for sale...

2011-04-27 Thread D P Ingram
Hi there...

Music Library Finland (www.MusicLibrary.fi) has a lot of surplus items - over
33,000 (!) that it is looking to sell (or trade for items more suitable to its
core collections). Of these, over 1000 cylinders (and there are many more
trays to sort through when we have some space).

The cylinders may be found here:

http://www.musiclibrary.fi/items-for-sale-ex-libris/cyls.html

Prices are "suggested donations" as we are not a "record dealer". Of course you
are welcome to pay more as all funds will help sustain operations/further
acquisitions and if you really do think we are "having a laugh" with a price
suggestion, tell us. As long as you don't offer a penny your suggestion might
be considered… especially with a larger order. We'd rather fill the storage
space with items core to the collection anyway.

All prices are in Euros (approx 1 EUR is 1.45 USD, 0.85 GBP). Payment may be by
Paypal, cash in whole bills, bank transfer and of course suitable trades).

Items are located in Finland (surface mail shipping is an option to help save
costs).

Please use the "contact us" form on www.musiclibrary.fi or send me an email. It
is important to cite both the reference number and the title of the object(s)
of interest, i.e. 33123456 Andrew Smith/A Wonderful Day.

Postage costs can, of course, vary and you can have input on how items are
packaged (more packaging = more weight = more costs). We can pack a cylinder in
a one metre cube of packaging material if you wish to pay :) But we won't stick
it in a regular envelope without a signed disclaimer !

The master link to all items (on our web site) is here
http://www.musiclibrary.fi/items-for-sale-ex-libris/ These files will be
updated (with new material, also) on an ongoing basis and the "updated" date is
always shown on the preceding index page.

Each section has a PDF file that can be be downloaded (Internet technology and
fat fingers at this end permitting)

Items include:

[Phono-L] A couple of cylinder questions

2011-02-08 Thread D P Ingram
Hi...

Does anyone have any information to confirm whether the following Edison Blue
Amberols have been released ? I've checked several of our reference books and
UCSB to no avail, but from /somewhere/ we had got a claim the following /were
released/ (to put them on our "needed list" but now we cannot substantiate they
were existing (a couple of other reference works are en route by sea with a lot
of other parcels).

ED4BA 28028
Only one google entry found, so could be a typing error ?
http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/edison-amberol-records-set-1

ED4BA 29104

Any clues ? Thank you !

[Phono-L] Wanted, these cylinders....

2010-10-16 Thread D P Ingram
Does anyone have the following Edison Blue Amberol cylinders for sale (or
trade, should we have anything for trade that is of interest). Items may be
shipped to our U.S. freight forwarder rather than direct to Finland (makes it
easier). Payment, of course, can be arranged in most useable forms.

Re: [Phono-L] Columbia Grafonola Shipping Crate

2010-09-27 Thread D P Ingram
Hi. Thanks. The Lewiston connection is a freight forwarder who is
gathering a lot of stuff for us so I doubt they'd want to drive out
there. Is there anythng like a "bus freight" in that region where you
drop it off at a bus station's freight depot and they affordably
switch it between bus terminals until it comes out the other end,
eventually ? We have such a thing here anyway. Oh well should anyone
on the list happen to be in those areas... Many thanks, Darren

Glenn

Shame. I don't suppose there's a relatively cheap means to get it to Lewiston
NY ? Please forgive my lack of "U.S. geography" here!

Best wishes, Darren

Shame you are not near NY State (Lewiston) as shipping some stuff to Finland
from there and that'd look good in our reception (could put outgoing post in
it!) :)

Re: [Phono-L] Edison Document for sale - stolen??

2010-07-29 Thread D P Ingram
It does sound bizarre but stranger things can happen. Of course, if a buyer was
serious and would authenticate, the seller could always agree to meet at a
public place or even a lawyer's office if they were scared of being shot :)
Maybe ask and see if they decline -.--

Re: [Phono-L] re mirek and his prices

2010-04-28 Thread D P Ingram
As an outsider here, when I read the original message thread I wondered, not
knowing Mirek, whether English was his first language as I can understand the
lack of "finesse" that might otherwise appear. I make no comment on his
shipping and product prices as they are outwith my knowledge.

Re: [Phono-L] The Cylinders Have Been Sold!

This reminds me, for the benefit of the list's European members (might be
easier for postage) a list of a few items surplus to Music Library Finland can
be found here (of course, will ship worldwide on request).

Select phonograph cylinders from list.
