Paypal has some funny rules that don't make alot of sense to us on the
outside. I used them to send $2000.00 to Australia, they had the $2000.00 from
my
Bank Account, they would not give the man in Australia more than $500.00 per
month, although he owed them no money, and I told them it's my money and I want
them to give it to him. They refused, they instead returned the money to my
bank account, and I then had to do a bank transfer without paypal. I tried to
understand their explanation, but couldn't. It seems they were trying to
protect
me from myself. In my nearly eighty years I never needed their protection, and
still don't.

Does anyone have an idea on what an average price to sell two machines would
be.
1. Edison Gem model-C/ w lid - nice shape, reproducer in great shape,
runs great.
2. Peter Pan portable - real nice shape, runs great.

I have someone interested in buying them both from me, but don't
know what the average price to sell them to him for.
I was thinking $600 - $650 for the both.
Is that too high?

Although hoping for more responses, I promised to share the results of the
Edison A/B-80 survey within a couple of weeks. For what it's worth, here
they
are:

Edison A-80
Serial numbers believed to start at 0 (late 1912) with wooden grilles.
Documented numbers from #2872 - #4219
(#4219 has metal grille, as shown on page 42 of Frow's Edison Disc
Phonographs. Machine pictured was completed December 19, 1914.)

Edison B-80
Serial numbers began between #4219 and #6175 (late Dec.1914/Jan.1915).
Documented numbers from #6175 - #16824.
(All B-80s documented in this survey have wooden grilles.)

That's it. If you have one of these models that varies from the number
ranges or grille descriptions, please share it and we'll revise this little
chart.
Thanks again to all who contributed information!

Hello all,

I have the opportunity to purchase two Columbia AJ machines. One is the
early top crank and the other is the middle rear crank.

The tonearm AND support arm are reproductions... the aluminum ones, on both
of the machines. And the middle version machine with rear wind has a
reproduction reproducer.

Horns on both are original BB.

Anyone have ideas of a good price for them individually or together.

Thanks,
Vince

Reproduction parts would be just about your only option - the turntable
tonearm are not 'standard.' The lid would be difficult too. I don't
think you could scrounge one off any other model.

I'm thinking in the $6-8k range for a complete unit?

Not warped at all. Any sense of humor is worthwhile. I find it hard to
