Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: Newbie question regarding Biography Plugin

2006-06-15 Thread Michael Herger

The error Information could not be collected. There might be a network
problem. Please try again! immediately shows.

What happens if you play any other artist?

There's probably an invalid HTML file in the cache folder. Purge that
folder using the appropriate button in the plugin's settings page, play
some other artist, try to get a bio. Does it work?

Unfortunately I cannot do this from my IPAQ, since its not been setup
to surf via wifi.

You'll have to if you want to use SlimRemote on it :-)

Butagain, can I SAVE all the information locally (hard drive),
should I get it working.

And again: the server does save the files, I can't do this on the client's
side.

You mentioned caching, which for me implies I'll lose this info, should
I reinstall SlimServer for whatever reason.

If you want to keep it, backup the Cache/.slimserver-biography-cache
folder within slimserver's installation folder.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien BBC on my Mac

2006-06-15 Thread crouchend

Just tried to install Alien BBC using instructions on this website:
http://www.x2systems.com/AlienBBC/installation.html#mac

Installed everything on a titanium Powerbook running 10.4
First problem, 'usr/local/bin' does not exist 'usr/bin' exists so I put
mplayer in there instead.
My squeezebox 3 displays alien BBC but will not play anything.

Next, installed everything on my other mac (imac running OS 10.3)
'usr/local' exists, but there are no files or folders in it.
again I put mplayer in 'usr/bin'
Once again squeezebox plays nothing as before.

Can anybody tell me what I may have done wrong?

Many thanks

Guy

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: Newbie question regarding Biography Plugin

2006-06-15 Thread Fredly

Again, thank you Michael for getting back to me so quickly.

Late yesterday evening, after fiddling around with this Bio plug-in a
bit more, I realized a few things;

1) Absolutely no data was sent out when I played Peter Gabriel, or any
other artists, and click on the Biography plug-in.

I verified this by opening the network status icon that showed packets
sent/received, and clicking on the Bio plug-in at the same time, and
could see nothing being sent.

2) I don’t think this plug-in will work as I expected it to.

Like the thumbnails located within each Album folder, I thought I could
gather all the information from my slow dial-up Internet access, and
store this info within a particular folder, for later recollection. In
other words, I do this action once for each Artists and never again,
and Internet access is not a requirement for me to access Bio
information from my wifi IPAQ.

Anyways, if you have any other suggestions on how to get this working
AND if the Bio plug-in can work as detailed above (perhaps by backing
up the cache bio folder as suggested), it would be very much
appreciated.

Cheers, Fred in Canada.

First needs to test that mplayer works OK on your systems. Open a
Terminal windows and try the following command on your systems and see
if you hear radio 4.

Code:

  /usr/bin/mplayer -v -playlist
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/realplayer/media/fmg2.rpm

I've got 2 Macs running OS 10.4 (PowerBook and Mac Mini) and
/usr/local/bin exists on both of them and Alien BBC runs without a
problem on the Mac Mini.

In the Finder, from menu Go then Go to folder... what happens when
you enter /usr/local/bin and select Go ?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Trackstat / MIP problem

2006-06-15 Thread GregD

I've started this in a new thread as the existing TrackStat thread is
very long.

I think I've isolated a problem where I have some problems with
TrackStat talking to the MIP api.

Basically the MIP isn't understanding the filename being sent by
trackstat.

Trackstat is sending a string starting:-
setPlayCount?song=file%3A%2F%2F%2FC%3A%2FHome%2FMusic

if I change this to read
setPlayCount?song=C:\Home%2FMusic

Than I can get it to work via the browser.

Not technical enough to understand what the underlying cause is here.

Any thoughts?

What kind of exception do you get ? Does it mention timer3 ?

Be good to get this sorted..

You have an old version of mplayer which required a separate codec file
but you didn't install the codec.

My advice is to install the later version of mplayer although I am not
sure if it will run on the 10.3 system. So you should get the 10.4
working first.

Use this version of mplayer and try again.
http://www.x2systems.com/AlienBBC/mplayer-03-15-06.tar.gz

In order to improve the AlienBBC instructions - where did you get the
version of mplayer you have installed - off an AlienBBC page or
another link ?
