[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: Announce: Plugin for easy creation of dynamic playlists

2006-06-21 Thread smc2911

Just upgraded after falling a couple of versions behind. I like the new
layout, but I've found that some playlists fail. For example, if I try
to play (or add) "Songs > Not Rated > Not rated songs not recently
played" a message appears on the SB saying "Failed: Not rated songs not
recently...". Also, the webUI jumps back to the main DynamicPlaylist
page. However, if I just click on the "Not rated songs not recently
played", it takes me to the TrackStat page and from there I can play or
add with no problem. I have not as yet identified a pattern as to which
dynamic playlists lead to this problem and which do not. I turned on
the debug messages but this did not shed any light on the problem.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: XML socket : need advice from good coders

2006-06-21 Thread erland

It should be possible to make a plugin that listen to all events and
make some simple modifications to the events, for example adding \0 and
send them further. The plugin has to open a
server socket in the same way as the CLI interface does which clients
can connect to. By making it as a plugin there is no need for the user
to run a separate application, he can just install the plugin and
everything is running.

I think an interface that its possible to connect to and receive events
as XML could be useful in other situations, so you might want to think
about converting the events to XML instead of just adding \0 if you
choose to implement it as a plugin.

2006-06-21 Thread Lowrent

That was too good to be true
Damn.

Flash is expecting null-byte terminated strings from the socket.
I can send but not receive :(

I would have to :
1 Code a gateway that switch the \n for a \0
or 2 Modify the SlimServer to add \0 to responses.

With the latest SQLPlayList (1.10) together with DynamicPlayList (1.5)
it is now possible to create playlists that requests parameters from
the user. The playlists can be lauched as earlier but also from the
browse menus/pages in player ui and web ui by hitting PL button(web ui)
or holding play down (player ui).

Thanks again for the idea

A new version (1.5) of the DynamicPlayList plugin is now available, the
new functionallity is:
- Added support for requesting parameters from the user in both player

- Added support for hold play action in browse menus on SqueezeBox to
reach related playlists (Playlists which requests parameters and the
first parameter is the same type as the selected item in the browse
page)
- Added support for PL button in web ui on browse pages to reach
related playlists (Playlists which requests parameters and the first

The new version is available at my 'download page'

[SlimDevices: Plugins] trouble with Radio Tune In

2006-06-21 Thread thewiseacre

I'm trying to stream from this site:
http://www.xxsportsradio.com/sc/?option=com_content&task=view&id=367&Itemid=190

The stream link URL (http://stream3.12milesout.net/mty1090) opens up
fine in Windows Media Player (I'm on Mac OSX 10.4.x) just fine, and it
will also stream automatically right in Safari. I think it does this
via Quicktime with that WMV Flip4Mac plugin.

I can't seem to sneak the actual URL needed so that I can play through
my Squeezebox. Any ideas?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: Alien BBC pauses

2006-06-21 Thread bpa

Last yr. when working on a problem with AlienBBC/Mplayer I heard similar
problems - they were usually at peak times Mon-Thurs 7.30am-10.00am and
5.00-7.30pm. At these times the BBC servers dropped data. With live
broadcast, if data cannot be digitised and shipped out in time for
whatever reason(e.g. network congestion, server load), the data seems
to be dropped so that the broadcast remains up to date in real time.
As the data is being dropped at source - no amount of additional
buffering would solve the problem.

Besides extra load on BBC, all networks would be experiencing
additional data traffic as there are many stations broadcasting and so
network congestion may be part of the problem.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: Alien BBC pauses

2006-06-21 Thread mactavish

That's what I though, I see it a lot in the around 1pm UK time.

Is the buffer in Alien BBC flexible or does it use whatever the BBC
stream uses.

I'm hoping that it's related to the volume during the world cup and
once it's over we'll see a return to uninteruppted.

If I get a chance I'll listen to the stream on my PC and see if I get
the same pauses.

Can someone tell me if 6.3 and AlienBCC allows you to see the buffer on
the slimbox? I see that feature noted on the 6.3 release notes.

1. Download the following file of codecs (it is a 10Mbytes file).

http://www1.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/codecs/windows-essential-20060611.zip
2. Create a directory called "codecs" as a subdirectory of the
MSWin32-x86-multi-thread directory (this is probably found in
c:\Program Files\slimserver\server\Bin).
3. Extract the file sipr3260.dll and save it in the newly created
codecs directory.
4. Try RTE1 now - there should be no need to restart slimserver as this
file is used by Mplayer and it will picked up when Mplayer starts.

Ok.. AFAIK, there are 3 situations which give rise to this error:

1. The wrong MySql port.. Make sure this is set to the correct port

something like 3306)

2. MySql isnt actually running on the target machine..

3. Firewall fun and other random network problems..
