Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Last.fm/Scrobbler suggestion

2007-03-29 Thread Paul Webster

SlimServer leaves it as it was.

I could change my tags - but they really do match the "requirements"
set by Freedb
http://ftp.freedb.org/pub/freedb/latest/DBFORMAT

I know that I should really move to use MusicBrainz - but I haven't got
around to that process yet.
I did download an updated CDEx that claims to support MusicBrainz but
so far not a single CD that I have bought has been found by it in
MusicBrainz (I haven't researched hard to see where that problem lies -
but I do get a lot of unusual CDs so I wasn't too surprised).

Erm, maybe. What does SlimServer do with tracks like this?
You could just change your tags though!

Thanks for the info, considering the amount of money Sirius is paying
for Stern I highly doubt they'd allow him to be broadcast for free. My
guess is Crystal.net will ultimately receive a cease and desist notice,
especially since I know Sirius monitors this thread...

BTW- The plugin doesn't really have any "ongoing" issues, and it's
especially easier to configure now that the built-in wma decoding
supports playing the streams direct. Of course, you'll still need a
server running to at least connect you to the stream initially.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Are you willing to pay for a Sirius Radio plug-in?

2007-03-29 Thread NauticusLX

If all you want to really do is just listen to Stern, it's on the
Crystal.net internet radio channel. Get the url at Shoutcast.com and
create a favorite for it at SqueezeNetwork.com. All Stern all the
time. Certainly this is easier than using a plug-in with SlimServer,
with all it's attendant and ongoing issues, and which requires that the
PC be turned on. Plug in your fm transmitter and your livin like it's
1999 again (finally).

I've discovered that the show simply repeats nonstop through the day,
which is the ideal that Sirius has yet to realize. They repeat the
same show through the day, not that days' show but a very recent one,
without commercials. I wouldn't be surprised if Crystal.net has
approval, otherwise how could such a prominent re-broadcast continue to
be undiscovered?

This produces a blank white page, with the following Page Info:

Code:

  slimfx.swf (application/x-shockwave-flash Object):
  Address: http://localhost:9000/slimfx/html/slimfx.swf
  Type: application/x-shockwave-flash
  Render Mode: Quirks mode
  Cache Source: Not cached
  Encoding: ISO-8859-1
  Size: Unknown
  [...]

Further more, if I look under the Media tab (still in the Page Info
panel), I see:

Code:

  Address: http://localhost:9000/slimfx/html/slimfx.swf
  [...]
  Type: application/x-shockwave-flash
  Cache Source: Not cached
  [...]
  *Specified Dimentions: 0px × 0px*

Notice the last line - could that be the problem? BTW, I also restarted
the browser and cleared the cache - no difference.

OK. I didn't mention it, but I can "telnet localhost 9090" without any
problem (though I don't know how to issue CLI commands). I don't think
the CLI is the culprit here. More likely some Flash/Firefox/Linux
quirk... I wonder if anyone else has used this skin with a Linux
browser and the latest Flash? Might be possible to try using a
Live-CD. Knoppix and 'these instructions'
would seem like a good option... Might try it myself if I find a little
time.

Thanks for your help, BTW!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Last.fm/Scrobbler suggestion

2007-03-29 Thread Paul Webster

Given that last.fm doesn't like tracks by an artist called "Various" ...
and that some people (ok ... me) have CDs ripped that way with ID3 tags
becuase that is how Freedb wanted them ...
could Slimscrobbler take special action if the artist is "Various" or
"Various Artists" and the track name has an occurrance of " / " and
submit the calculated artist and title.

e.g.
Artist: Various
Title: Uschi Bauer / Kuckucks Jodler
gets submitted as
Artist: Uschi Bauer
Title: Kuckucks Jodler

Hi Matthew

Quick one, I removed the destination station to activate the above and
it tells me its an invalid entry.

New value for destStation rejected:
Invalid value specified:

Am I doing something wrong??

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: slimfx - Flash-based Skin / Control App

2007-03-29 Thread dbls

As mentioned elsewhere, the current track doesn't seem to be updated
automatically. I haven't seen this glitch mentioned: if the page is
refreshed, the compact track display is always presented, even if the
expanded display was in use.

I'd like to encourage the rapid inclusion of random mix support (a
third page, in addition to "Library" and "Playlists", perhaps?). In
addition, I think the option of toggling between the existing layout
and one in which the Now Playing list is expanded (i.e. as multiple
columns) would be a useful enhancement, especially when used with
Random Mix and the expanded track display.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Recording AlienBBC streams

2007-03-29 Thread MrStan

I find that with MPlayer all you need is a command line like

MPLAYER bbcurl -CACHE 128 -AO PCM:WAVEHEADER:FILE=filename.wav

The capitals are fixed entries and can be typed in lower case.
The bbcurl and output filename you supply yourself.

You can then edit any rubbish from the WAV file and save in your
favourite format.

Note that this will only output to the file, you will not hear any
audio on the PC.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Recording AlienBBC streams

2007-03-29 Thread hellesangel

Hi all,

Following this thread I'd also like to be able to record whatever the
squeezebox is currently playing, for example by hitting a magic button
on the remote. The main reason is, of course, for recording live
internet radio streams. A search hasn't provided the answer, does it
exist? A link would be great.

Thanks in advance.
