[SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC and rebuffering

2008-07-31 Thread Coppernob

Hardware: QNAP 109
Software: Squeeze Center Version: 7.1-22170
AlienBBC: 2.01b with iPlayer Adon v3

In another thread you helped me solve the issue of AlienBBC not even
beginning a stream:
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49363highlight=dlink

However I am now having another problem. Streams start but they are in
constant need of rebuffering on all BBC channels (ok I tried bbc 1, 4
and 7)

I have increased the buffer to 30secs in Settings-Advanced-Network with
no luck

Any suggestions on where to look? I do not think it is a firewall
issue, because the stream does start.

I have enclosed my server log

TIA

Not like SqueezeScrobbler (which is it's own plugin) but through the
internet radios. So it works like pandora or so. It has a bit different
functionality from SqueezeScrobbler and is a bit more integrated into
the SC architecture, for example you can only love/ban using the
NowPlaying screen (but that one has some nice icons for that now).
SqueezeScrobbler's main page should refresh automatically but for some
reason often misses the first refresh and so will not start that
automatically. As soon as you reload once and see the current track
info it should start refreshing on it's own.

On the other issues I have to investigate further. This is really
weird.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Last.Fm connection problem

2008-07-31 Thread Craig, James (IT)
The integrated LastFM support is the option in the 'Music Services' menu.

If you want to use SqueezeScrobbler (in the 'Internet Radio' menu) on 7.1 you
need to upgrade to the latest version of SqueezeScrobbler as there was a change
in 7.1 which broke the plugin.

However, there's no reason to continue using SqueezeScrobbler unless you live
outside the UK/US/Germany and are prevented from using the official plugin.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SqueezeScrobbler 1.0 forSqueezeCenter 7.0

2008-07-31 Thread Craig, James (IT)
In SqueezeCentre 7.1, the official LastFM plugin can replace all
SqueezeScrobbler functionality.
(The official plugin is the one in the Music Services menus)

There was a change made in the server which broke the plugin, hence the 1.1.12
release.

However, the only real reason to use SqueezeScrobbler is if you're in a country
not supported by the official plugin.

In AlienBBC 2.x - AlienBBC uses the common SC code for handling menus -
so it is not more robust.

In AlienBBC 1.x (for Slimserver 6.x and earlier) there was a Playlist
functionality but this has been removed as that functionality can be
done by Favorites (and also My Radio Stations in 7.1) - you will need
to import each playlist to use them in Favorites/My Radio Stations.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC and rebuffering

2008-07-31 Thread Coppernob

bpa;324481 Wrote:

 1. What are you playing and when ? Live streams have a different set
of buffering problems than Listen Again. Live streams also have their
own station profile (e.g Radio 4 is very busy Mon-Thurs 5.00pm-7.30pm
 and about midday on Sunday).

Generally Listen Again streams cannot suffer from lack of data from
BBC because all the program is available but Live streams can only
deliver data at a specificed rate and if you have network errors and
have data loss - the link will eventually need to be reset as all the
 internal buffer will become depleted.

 2. What is the problem ? How do you decide you need to rebuffer. What
do you do when you have decided it needs to rebuffer ? If you get a
rebuffering message on the display then the problem is between server
 and SB.

 3. Are you syncing players ?

 4. Are your streams transcoding Real|Audio into WAV, Flac or MP3 to the
 player ?
If you are sending Flac/MP3 to player what is your server CPU
 utilisation ?

If you are sending Flac to player - do you get the same symptoms if you
 using MP3 instead ?

If you are sending WAV to player - using Network test what is the max
net speed @ 100% between server and SB player.

Answers:

1) A variety of listen again programs primarily n 7 and 4 but I also
tried some bbc1. If i listen using xplayer then no rebuffering.

2) Here you have immediately isolated the probable cause - the
rebuffering message is on the display. Therefore you say the problem is
between the SBs (because they all have the same broblem (I have 3 SB3
and one Duet reciever) and the QNAP. All four are Cat5e hardwired - so
the issue is not wireless. I have a DLINK DIR 655, and last time, to
get BBC to work at all i turned off the rtsp setting on the appligation
level gateway. I saw other suggestions and turned off QoS with no luck.
If you have a suspicioon of what areas might be the problem I can
google some solutions.

3. No problem occurs even without synching

4. Current settings:
I followed flipflip's FAQ suggestions:

RTSP
Flac Disabled
MP3 Disabled
WAV mplayer-stdout

I need to find how to perform the Network Test and I will give you the
results later.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] iPeng 0.5 for iPhone / 3G / iPod Touch 2.0

2008-07-31 Thread pippin

That's what I was about to post: once you put a password in SC, QT
returns that error, whether you are accessing locally or not (through
 the internet) :(

The other annoying thing is that it will prompt you a pass even when
accessing locally - so it brings a little lack of responsiveness to the
solution. Accessing SC without the password is considered a big lack of
 security?

Not locally. But if you open your network port to the BBI, everybody
can step into your SC and change the configuration - to start with.

Regarding the playback: the only idea I have how to come by that is
this:

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Totally confused by SoftSqueeze versions!

2008-07-31 Thread mr-b

I reported this a while back on SC7
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42784.

Unfortunately though it looks like the bug that then got filed has been
marked WONTFIX. :-(

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Last.Fm connection problem

2008-07-31 Thread Nonreality

Got rid of the addon and just ran the integrated lastfm and it fixed
everything. Works very nice. Thanks James.

Just wondering, why doesn't it show your posts in the top corner, first
time I've ever seen that.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

Have you tried deleting the SrvrPowerCtrl folder and the
prefs/plugin/srvrpowerctrl.prefs file and then reinstalling from
scratch from the zip? I'm wondering if something got tweaked when you
 updated from 7.1 to 7.2.

Ok, is working again. I downloaded a fresh copy of the plugin, removed
the plugin folder and .perfs file then reinstalled it using the fresh
copy. That did it... I'm back in business.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] iPeng 0.5 for iPhone / 3G / iPod Touch 2.0

2008-07-31 Thread Lesu

pippin;324408 Wrote:
Hm, I have to take a closer look since I cannot reproduce this. On my
system it works fine with 7.1 and 7.2
My 7.1 installation has some newer iPeng code though, and my main
server runs 7.2 which behaves a bit differently. Will have to check
with my Windows machine over the weekend.
 Which player are you using?
Oh, and you are not talking about the local playback feature,
correct? That one may not display this correctly, but then it's of
 little use there anyway...

I have just been playing some random tracks and the bug is
reproducible. The Touch powers off, several tracks later I switch it
back on and in the album art screen ,after about 10s, the album art and
the artist's name is updated to the current song playing. Sideswipe to
the random play list and the old song, which was playing when the Touch
switched off, is still highlighted.
It never changes after that, even when a new song starts playing.
This is ordinary playback, not 'local'. The player is an SB3, updated
to the latest firmware after the 7.1 upgrade.
This is a new bug, the old software did not do this.

2008-07-31 Thread Chippy

Thanks Fredrik! Your 'adjustment' works fine for me whilst we're waiting
for the new version.

Completely agree about this plugin. Got to the stage where I can't
imagine my Squeezeboxen without it...

cheers
