Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] rtsp error Ubuntu/Debian AlienBBC v2.02 Beta1

2008-11-09 Thread Ur[s]uS

> Slim::Player::TranscodingHelper::getConvertCommand (300) Error: Didn't
> find any command matches for type: rtsppl format: mp3

I have just spent about 6 hours finding, then troubleshooting this
error. I've Kubuntu 8.04, Slimserver 7.2.1 stable main, AlienBBC
2.2b1.

I have become familiar with chown and chmod, making sure squeezecenter
owns (it had been owned by root) and could execute mplayer.sh and other
Alien directory files etc. I also changed the radio station network
timeout setting in squeezecenter to 30, rather than 5.

One thing that puzzled me was whether it was necessary to download
tarball for mplayer and confiugre/make/make install that programme or
whether install from synaptic using the medibuntu repository was
enough. I've changed so much, I'm no longer sure, but I think I
settled on the medibuntu download and that works perfectly. There is
no need for ws32codecs. I installed lame too, but not entirely sure
that was necessary.

Turns out, the main problem appears to have been my router. D-Link
DIR-655. It has firewall that appears to reject RTSP streams. You
have to turn off application level gateway (ALG) for RTSP in the
firewall settings. However, this was not enough for me. I also had to
enable multicast. After all of this, I now have alienbbc running on my
linux box again.

Thanks to all on this thread and the following threads:

I thought I'd mark the issue and apparent resolution here, in ease of

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: LiveDepartures screensaver plugin

2008-11-09 Thread mflint

Hey all... Sorry for being so quiet lately. Haven't had any time to
devote to this :(

Version changes: yes, i'll get that fixed and tested against 7.1.

Duet support: I did make a start on this... It's functional but not
polished. Perhaps I should make available what I've done and hope
someone submits patches?

Boom support: shouldn't be too hard. Three lines is a great idea - I'll
have a go and report back. Is there Boom emulation in SoftSqueeze?

Apologies again for being so slack!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: 7.3 Plugin Installer

2008-11-09 Thread tamanaco

I'm sure there is a perfectly good reason... but why are Plugins
installed using this method in a separated folder in the Cache folder
instead of the Plugin folder? Now, we have three folders with Plugins.
Is this a temporary measure? Some times when I install an unstable
release I clear the cache folder before replacing it.

Because on many platforms the server does not run with enough
priveliges to save files to the Plugin folder. Putting the plugins in
the Cache folder means we know we can always write to it (as we create
it somewhere where we know we can). There is no issue wiping the Cache
folder when you upgrade as plugins can be reinstalled. The preferences
stored by plugin are stored elsewhere so you should not loose anything.
[Plugins should not write to their own folder for the reason above]

Install "SQL Playlist" and create a new playlist, for example based on
the "Advanced with rating" playlist type. It will be shown among the
playlists in Dynamic Playlist plugin and can be setup as a favorite
which can be reached with a shortcut button.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Problem with real stream - with AlienBBC

2008-11-09 Thread castle_tunes

Hi there,
AlienBBC works really well but I am having a problem with some streams
from Lyric FM. For example there is a weekly Jazz show that I am like
but it restarts itself after 5 or 10mins and I can never listen to it
fully. Anyone with any suggestions or tweaks to try for real streams
would be great
The url of jazz show (which works fine in browser) is
http://dynamic.rte.ie/quickaxs/209-rte-lyr-jazzalley.smil

I have Squeezecentre 7.2 on Windows (home server), AlienBBC v2.02beta1,
Squeezebox 3

BTW just got a second squeezebox last week, this time a boom and it is
beautifully built device, works like a dream.

Cheers

Can this item change to a other location please?

(After every track you can go to the "Last.fm: Love this track" item
with the right pushbutton. If you push by accident again on the right
pushbutton Squeezebox sends it to Last.fm.)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] No sound from AlienBBC and run out of things to try

2008-11-09 Thread dsmith1974

OK thanks, I'll look into it, reading around a bit more it seems I need
to compile a specific code-base for mplayer on an ARM chip and the
'cook' mods for fixed point math since the RISC chip has no FPU and the
software simulation is too slow to stream real audio at the speed the
LinkStation runs at. It's more of a tight squeeze than I'd originally
appreciated - will give it a go though.

Thanks,

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] No sound from AlienBBC and run out of things to try

2008-11-09 Thread bpa

Looks like mplayer has been built with the wrong rtsp library - it
should be using the RealAudio RTSP and not the librtsp library.

Code:

  Filename for url is now
rtsp://rmv8.bbc.net.uk/radio4/0543_sat.ra?BBC-UID=14a9314796b80eadfd1b91ef60e01c631da55a0a4060115f9a2fdf62c0a9_n&SSO2-UID=
  Resolving rmv8.bbc.net.uk for AF_INET6...
  Couldn't resolve name for AF_INET6: rmv8.bbc.net.uk
  Resolving rmv8.bbc.net.uk for AF_INET...
  Connecting to server rmv8.bbc.net.uk[212.58.251.74]: 554...
Cache size set to 128 KBytes
  STREAM: [rtsp]
rtsp://rmv8.bbc.net.uk/radio4/0543_sat.ra?BBC-UID=14a9314796b80eadfd1b91ef60e01c631da55a0a4060115f9a2fdf62c0a9_n&SSO2-UID=
  STREAM: Description: RTSP streaming

Compare the above "connecting to server" to your log.

Also do not setup your own default - I found it is best to let mplayer
work without any other files. mplayer will cache any info if it wants
- this may be part of your problem.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Trouble with MusicIP and SugarCube

2008-11-09 Thread ob_kook

Another 12 hours, another full scan and still no joy (actually the
complete opposite of joy)...

I've been through SlimChances thread as it seemed we had similar
issues, Spicefly's guide, the wiki and whatever. I've done the
following:
- installed the 7.3 nightly
- configured MIP to run headless and confirmed I can do a test mix

SugarCube is still not working (just ends after one song), and I get no
"M" in the library indicating a mixable status. I assume this means SC
is not properly configured with MIP headless and is the basic problem,
but I have no idea what to try next.

Any help appreciated.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] DVB Radio Add-on for Linux

2008-11-09 Thread florca

Because it works very reliably on a low-power (733MHz PIII) system - I'm
a great believer in "If It Ain't Broke Don't Fix It".

I also much prefer the good, large VFD + dumb remote mode of use, so
I'm very happy with my four SB3s, with no serious reason to buy a Duet
or Boom.

Having said all that, I'm thinking about a complete hardware / software
server upgrade but trying to hold out for the "perfect" low energy,
fanless i386 solution.

DVBServer is still working well by the way, but I'm not yet fully
decided whether to use this or the DVBShout / Icecast2 solution long
term.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Problem with real stream - with AlienBBC

2008-11-09 Thread bpa

There is a file in the Plugins/Alien directory call custom-convert.conf
- save this file and then rename the custom-convert.conf.alt to
custom-convert.conf. Tnhen reboot SC.

This will remove the "--bandwidth 1000" option on mplayer which
means programs will take about 10-12 secs to start playing after
presing play or ffw/rew but it should remove the problem.

The problem arises because of large buffering by mplayer especially
with the "bandwidth" option and the very slowness of the audio stream
(it is a 16kbps mono recording - it seems RTE are still catering for
the dialup modem user). Packets are not acknowledged until they are
played but large buffer means packets timeout and so link is reset by
RTE server. For some reason, this problem happens with Windows more
than Linux

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] No sound from AlienBBC and run out of things to try

2008-11-09 Thread dsmith1974

I tried getting mplayer to save a stream to a file like this:

mplayer -v -vc null -vo null -bandwidth 1000 -cache 128 -af
volume=0,resample=44100:0:1,channels=2 -ao
pcm:waveheader:file=saved.wav -playlist
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/shows/rpms/radio4/prayerfortheday.rpm

Initially, mplayer couldn't find any config files and reverted to
defaults, so I created some symbolic links in /root/.mplayer to
/usr/local/src/mplayer/etc/*

Now there are less issues reported from mplayer, but it still doesn't
save any file.

Any ideas?

Many thanks,

Duncan
