Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: 7.3 Plugin Installer
I think there's a bug in the Extension Downloader page. I haven't played with this much, because I have many plugins already installed manually, and I'm not going to uninstall them just to install them again in the wrong place. However, I thought this was worth reporting: I added Erlands repositry: http://erlandplugins.googlecode.com/svn/repository/trunk/latest.xml and pressed return - it said it had saved changes. I didn't get anything listed on the Extension Downloader page. I pressed the Apply button and refreshed the page, just to make sure. Still nothing. I added another repositry: http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/slim7/repodata.xml. Finally I got a list of plugins that I could choose to install, plus those that were already installed. I believe I have all of Erlands plugins installed, so it looks like if there are no plugins that can be installed, then installed plugins are not listed either? Some more comments: 1. Author - for Erland's installed plugins, the author is not listed. It knows there are plugins available, and I assume he has put his name in the repositry xml file, so why not display it? 2. The version isn't displayed for manually installed plugins. It would be useful to show the currently installed version, and the version available from the repositry. 3. Why can't manually installed plugins be uninstalled/updated through the Extension Downloader? Surely all it needs to do is delete a plugin folder, and unzip the new content to a folder? If the original plugin folder can't be deleted, then report that it can't be uninstalled/updated automatically. 4. Is there any recommended standardisation for the Author name? eg. Firstname Lastname, Lastname, Firstname, forum user name? 5. Do plugins only get listed as available if they are appropriate? eg. if the SC version is outside of defined min/max plugin version limits, is a plugin listed? What if there are multiple versions of a plugin for different versions of SC? Is each one listed, or only the most appropriate version? 6. Can a plugin have dependencies? eg. Only allow TitleSwitcher plugin to be installed if MusicInfoSCR is installed? I'm going to have a go at creating a repositry for my plugins later. What's the latest status of this? Do I need to host it on my website and add the repositry link to the wiki page? Will the page automatically be parsed to pre-load the repositries into SC? Hi, I have a Boom, v. 7.2.1 installed and 5.7.0 (5.8.0 gives the dreaded 404 error on settings). I've tried all possible solutions, I think, but the display on my Boom is messy with SuperDateTime. 1. I don't understand the settings. First two pull-down boxes, either yes or no, I don't know what the second one does. 2. 3-line display and 2-line display. Does a Boom have a 2 or 3 line display? 3. The normal Date plugin is able to show the time when off, however SuperDateTime does not. If I power on the Boom, the time is shown again. 4. I can see the weather image (clouds, f.e.) and some text. I sometimes (mostly when off) see a sun with horizontal lines through it. Not sure how to get one or the other. 5. The display shows 2 layers on top, I think because 3-line and 2-line displays are shown together. Current settings: yes, yes, 3-line:empty, 2-line: %1 (line 1), %T (line 2). I think this plugin is capable of doing what I want (show time, weathericon, current temp and maybe another number, no scolling text), but I seem to be unable to make it do so! Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: 7.3 Plugin Installer
Thanks. I haven't tried installing/uninstalling plugins through this new approach, but I have every expectation that it will work well, according to other peoples experiences. The selection grid works well, and it will help inexperienced users to easily install plugins that are hosted in the SC repositry (when there is one). However, for developers, beta testers or people that have a lot of plugins from a lot of authors, it seems that it may not be all that useful at the moment, or will at least exhibit pain moving from old to new mechanism for each plugin in turn. What happens if SC is upgraded and an installed plugin version is no longer considered suitable for SC? Does it automatically uninstall, or just highlight it as incompatible? With the download extension, it won't list the plugin if the plugin version isn't compatible with SC? So I assume it could uninstall a plugin, and not list it following an upgrade of SC. I'd get no indication that it had done it? At least if it was listed but as incompatible, I could download manually and tweak the maxVersion element. Perform a TrackStat backup (make sure the backup succeeds so you get a backup file filled with information) 2. Change the files and perform a full rescan 3. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Changing mp3 files for flac but without losing trackstat data
I submitted the change for Trackstat backup restoration, which Erland has applied to his code. I'm not sure what version it went into - it's probably a good idea to get the latest versions installed to be sure you have the change. For each statistic in the backup file being restored, it first looks for an exact path/filename match in the SC database. If it isn't found, it tries to re-associate the statistic with a song having the same artist/album/song name path on the end of the URL. I also stripped the file extension off in this check. So, as Erland says, if you make a full trackstat backup (not a bad thing to do anyway), and then a full rescan, and restore the trackstat backup, it should marry the stats back to the new files. It works for me, but it is a bit specific still at the moment, in that my music storage path structure is M:\Music\Phil's Music\genre\artist\album\filename. As long as the last part \...\...\filename part doesn't change, you will be okay. A further enhancement could be made to the restore functionality to recursively look back through shorter end-parts of the URLs until a match is found, but there would be a concern that a song may be found on another album by another artist. My current change was kept simple and is therefore still fairly quick. I think I also added additional logging, so if it doesn't work, you could turn the logging up to info or debug level, and look in the log file. ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

Is anyone else out there running 5.8.0 with no issues? Is everyone certain they installed the plugin into the correct directory as in: C:\Programs\SqueezeCenter\server\Plugins\SuperDateTime NOT: C:\Programs\SqueezeCenter\server\Slim\Plugin\SuperDateTime Please confirm. If you place the plugin into the incorrect plugin directory you'll receive that file not found error. -Greg I've had no problems with 5.8 and the 7.3 svn updates. -- MrC MrC's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=468 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=14327 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

Your plugin stopped working after I attempted to install Michael Herger's MHCPAN through the new extension downloader in SC 7.3 betas. I don't see any reference to it in 5.7's Plugin.pm. Yes it is. It's in the code, trust me :) Please download 5.8.1... You may have to hit refresh on your web browser to see the update on the website. In 5.8.1 I've switched to .par packaging which 'should' resolve the issues some people are having. Please let me know if they continue. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SuperDateTime - Current Date/Temperature and/or Baseball Screensaver
I've gone ahead and posted 5.8.1 to www.gregbrown.net. I've switched to .par packaging which 'should' resolve the library/missing file issues some of you are having. Please let me know if the issues continue. You may have to hit refresh on your web browser to see the update on the website. Also new in this version are updated Duet weather icons, courtesy of Sue C. These new icons are much cleaner looking. That did the trick! All seems OK now with 5.8.1. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Title Switcher for switching texts on player display
Same problem with LastFM. It shows MIS_REMOTE_TITLESWITCHER_MIS_REMOTE_ARTISTCOMPOSER in the display (I have defined ARTISTCOMPOSER to switch between ARTIST and COMPOSER which is usfull for classical music). Are you using the very latest and greatest MIS version? Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
