Thanks Greg - for several reasons I prefer your plugin - including that
your version works w/ Softsqueeze and I really like the presets
auto-refresh view

FYI - I also tried siriusradio://# and that pulls up the icon in the
now playing window of the web ui but no stream :(

Just to get some clarification,
I have XM working with 7.2.1 but the only way to control XM from the

XM doesnt show up in the internet radio group still right?

Yep, I just add up the length of the things I'm displaying and if it is
over 23 I use the long text. Twenty-three is probably not perfect in
all cases but seems to work well for my stuff. My code is borrowed

[SlimDevices: Plugins] aac streams on SC 7.2: where does mplayer go on a mac?

2008-12-06 Thread whitman

Just updated Slimserver 6.5.1 to Squeezecenter 7.2 on my Mac. I want to
play AAC streams, so will still need mplayer. It used to live in
[home]/Library/Application Support/SlimDevices/bin. Can I just copy
that old bin folder, which I put aside during my clean installation of

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] wanted: new plugin for kids playing with other IR remotes

2008-12-06 Thread Goodsounds

You don't say how old your kid is, but a couple of things strike me.
First, I personally don't allow my kids to touch my stereo equipment
until they reach teenage years. Then, the instructions for use are
accompanied with "you're old enough to earn money to replace anything
here you break. Please use it carefully". That works. Get them their
own stuff, cheap stuff at first. Tell them if they break their stuff,
it won't be replaced. That works too.

Secondly, figuring that the world has too many unsocial couch potatos,
I tried not to add to that population. I never looked at using a remote
as a skill I wanted to encourage. Get him/her a ball instead, teach them
how to use it. Best would be a ball for a game you need someone else to
play with.

If you want to expose them to music, do so but you or your fellow
parent should turn it on and off. I'd make the technology NOT a part of
the experience. That way, you'll know whether they like to listen or
not.

The good thing about parenting - you can do it how you like, but the
problem is that the consequences of screwing it up are pretty serious.

Good luck.

-Updated WeatherUnderground parsing to handle stations that include
Solar Radiation in their reading data

** Please support the plugin by starting all your Amazon.com shopping

For those of you running newer 7.3 builds, I now have a SuperDateTime
repository available to make downloading/updating easy.

Please give it a shot by adding:

Adding a currently playing stream won't work for ya as the URLs only
are valid for around a minute.

Adding sirius://# used to work... doesn't seem to work anymore :(

Now that there's an official Sirius plugin I haven't been spending as
much attention on the plugin... although there are pros/cons of both
versions.

If I have a chance I'll see if I can quickly determine why sirius://#
doesnt work anymore.

Some time ago I suggested in this forum that the SB should have a way
to either password protect access to the remote settings menu or have a
way to set the remote to "Guest" mode. Under "Guest" the user would not
be able to make setting changes or modify "existing" playlist or
favorites. I still think that the folks at SD should consider adding
something similar. I have a nephew that's always playing pranks on me.
He used to get a hold of my SB3 remote, change settings and start
library scans. Now, before he arrives, I go to the settings of the SB3
Player and hide the settings menu. Given that your daughter has her own
SB, you can select that specific SB under player settings and be able to
hide "some" of the menu items you don't want her to access.

It worked initially when I installed it a few days ago. Then it was
not working, and then for a short while a couple of days ago, it worked
again. Since then it has not worked. I've not installed anything or
run Windows Update in all this time.

Attached is a listing of all processes running right now. Perhaps you
can stop something that might be causing problems?

I tried wavin2cmd again, and it still only gives me 1.48 secs of sound,
even though the WAV file grows and grows as time goes on. Incidentally,
I stop wavin2cmd using Ctrl+C. Presumably this is the right thing to
do?

Windows 'Sound Recorder' records fine and plays back fine.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Squeezeplay - missing menu items

2008-12-06 Thread markcaines

Not sure this is the right place to post this...

I'm running SC7.3 on OSX 10.5.5. I downloaded the Squeezeplay DMG file
this morning and it worked beautifully. However, once I copied the file
into Applications from the disk image, I lost most of the menu items and
the ability to add them back from Settings. If I restore defaults from
Settings > Home menu, then my home screen is left with Settings, Choose
Player, Test, and Quit. There does not appear to be any way from
Settings to add back any of the menu items related to playing music
(Now playing, Artists, etc.), although I can add a whole host of less
useful menu items. Keystrokes are also limited so + and - no longer
control volume. However, audio playback is enabled and I can control
Squeezeplay from the SC web interface.

Any thoughts? I delved around in the Squeezeplay package, but didn't
get far.

Thanks to anyone who can assist.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] wanted: new plugin for kids playing with other IR remotes

You're a good dad to support your kid's whacky obsessions.

I'd just buy a wii and plonk him in front of it.

Good luck.

I'm having the same issue. I get the 'please sign in', which I've done
- the sign in does not register with the SB3 and I get no last.fm.
However, it's still scrobbling my SC-played tracks to my last.fm
profile.

I am sorry if this is not the same issue you're having, in which case
I've hijacked your thread. If it is, help US. If it isn't, can anyone
help me.

(I am not in a bonafide last.fm country but I thought this new
builtin-ness was supposed to forego all those issues??)
