Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC 7.3 Linux no longer transcoding WMA (other work though)

2009-03-03 Thread brdrew

SB1 - (When I use SoftSqueeze I do not get the problem).

I tried the config changes in the post, and this changed the behaviour
when connecting to a stream, causing the server processor to max at
100% and the whole system to lock-up requiring a reboot.

At which point I regressed the change.

Playing the stream directly through MPlayer works.

AFAIK this is a RadioTime-SC special and yes it tells SC what formats
are available and can be played on the SC/SB. For example, the
RealAudio is only available when a user has AlienBBC installed. This is
NOT a general URL feature.

SC will try each format and associated URL in turn. This can have
strange results such as playing BBC - if outside the UK and using
RadioTime to play Radio 4 - SC will try WMA first and then RealAudio
which will start playing but SB display will shows a WMA url.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Title Switcher for switching texts on player display

2009-03-03 Thread jwedwards

Music Info Screen and Titleswitcher are great plugins. However,
depending on your music source, the information displayed isn't always
available / relevant.

I think it would be brilliant if you could define a different
screensaver for each music source e.g Music Library / Internet Radio /
Music Services / Podcasts which you would configure using Squeeze
Center.

Is this do-able?

They're stored in the Cache folder, as the Plugins folder isn't writable by SC.

AH! finally found the thread for this plugin. I've been using it both on
my SB3 and my Boom for several weeks now and it works great, so thanx a
lot for your work :-)

I have two small questions though :
-Do you have any plans to add the alternate volume display to the Boom
too ? it looks so much better than the default one !
-Is there a way to replicate the "Jump to Now playing" behaviour while
using MusicInfoSCR ? It can be confusing when the current track is
being displayed, and you press down or right (to see the next track or
the details of the current one) and you end up in the middle of the
settings or favourites menu ^^;

On your system the "Wave" control is the same as "Stereo Mix".

I don't think this kind of functionality fits in Title Switcher, it's
probably better to enhance the Music Information Screen plugin to
support this kind of configuration. The advantage of having the
configuration in Music Information Screen is that you would even be
able to have different layouts for the different music sources. You
will have to ask Michael (the developer of Music Information Screen)
regarding the possibilities to enhance it with this kind of
functionality.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: BBCiPlayer Plugin (UK only)

2009-03-03 Thread mobileadam

Hi Chris,

My problem has now gone away after so much testing, re-installing,
configuring etc. I found a very interesting thread which had a similiar
problem which was resolved by sorting everything out in SN. So I renamed
the one receiver that was giving me trouble, connected to SN (this then
downloaded some firware) and I checked everything appeared on SN as
expected (new receiver name etc) and voila! my problem has never
reoccurred.

The original thread mentioned something about SN losing pin numbers or
something - seems to have worked for me (nearly a week now).

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

2009-03-03 Thread gharris999

OK, a new version of SrvrPowerCtrl has been posted at the head of this
thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=48521.

What's new:

NEW 'END OF SLEEP TIMER' ACTION:

SrvrPowerCtrl can now monitor players and watch for "sleep-playing"..
at the conclusion of which, SrvrPowerCtrl can automatically take
action, i.e. shutdown/suspend/etc.

NEW HELP PAGE LINKED FROM SETTINGS PAGE.

Hopefully, this will inspire less head-scratching rather than more.

NEW DEBIAN - UBUNTU SETUP SCRIPT.

Now, finishing SrvrPowerCtrl setup on Debian or Ubuntu servers
should be as easy as on Redhat, Fedora, etc.

REFINEMENTS TO PUSH 'N PULL FROM SQUEEZENETWORK.

There is now a 'Swtich ALL players to SqueezeNetwork' option to switch

ALL players over to SqueezeNetwork when initiating a 'Suspend to
SqueezeNetwork' from a player menu. If you have 'Suspend to
SqueezeNetwork'
selected as the idle player or EOD action, the behavior hasn't
changed:
ALL players always get switched over in this case.

Also, there is now a "Specific players to switch to SqueezeNetwork"
setting.
This setting takes a list of player mac addresses. Only players in
the list
get switched to SN.

'Restore SqueezeNetwork connected players on wakeup' now behaves a
little
differently. If you are using the 'Specific players to restore'
feature,
it still will only drag back those specific players.

Also, SrvrPowerCtrl now 'remembers' which players it pushed onto SN
before
shutting down/suspending/etc. Upon resume, it only drags back the
players
it had previously 'pushed'.

Example:

Player A is connected to SqueezeNetwork, playing music.
Player B is connected to the local server and someone initiates a
"Suspend to SqueezeNetwork" from Player B. The next time the server
resumes, only Player B will get dragged back from SqueezeNetwork.

Exception: if Player A has the next scheduled alarm, it will get
dragged back too.

REFINEMENTS TO RESTART SQUEEZECENTER:

This feature now works on windows. It requires the
StartHidden.exe utility which is now included in the
SCPowerTool zip distribution.

There has been a lot of code changes in this version. Some whole-scale
rewrites of existing functions along with new code for new features. I
won't be surprised if you folks uncover some bugs. Please let me know.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] MusicInfoSCR 4.3 - now with theOriginal Boom Booklet Layout

2009-03-03 Thread jwedwards

Michael

Thanks for your great work on Music Info Scr. Do you have any plans to
implement multiple MIS screensavers? I can see several needs for this.

Firstly, for the various music sources not all the information is
relevant or necessary so you may want to have one screensaver for your
Music Library, another for Internet Radio, another for Podcasts etc. so
these would need to be linked to the music source somehow.

Another reason for multiple screensavers would be: when I have my SB
Boom on my desk, I am close enough to it to read the 3-line display and
have some detailed information but in another room, it's too small to
read from a distance so I would like to switch to a larger, less
detailed display.

Cheers,

John
