[SlimDevices: Plugins] Softsqueeze 3.7 running but not actually visible

2009-04-03 Thread Kanger

Being new to the software and having done a prelim. search of the
FAQ/database, I still can't get softsqueeze 3.7 to actually appear on
my screen not to mention change anything via the remote.

I presume that it is running since, at last, I have sound have an
entry under 'player' in SqueezeCenter ver: 7.3.2.

Anybody got any ideas.

Thanks so much.
cheers
Kanger

Only the Windows MusicIP Mixer GUI can do this, and unfortunately it

Thanks EFP and gsamsa for sorting this out.

1. Dropped the SlimFX skin into the Squeezeceter HTML directory
2. Dropped the SocketPolicy plugin into the Squeezecenter Plugin

3. Modified the SocketPolicy plugin:

line 15 in the install.xml file:

maxVersion7*/maxVersion

line 141 in the Plugin.pm file:

my $newport = 1843;

4. Then as root ran the following command:

iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -p tcp --dport 843 -j REDIRECT --to-port
1843

...and it works great

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Consolidating albums with tracks in multiple directories?

2009-04-03 Thread Moonbase

Hm, so it apparently has not enough data to be able to keep the disc
together. As SC works now, there#8217;s still some last hope:

- You could try using a disc number and total # of discs, even if a
release only has 1 disc (for disc #1 of a 2-disc release, in MP3, use
  -TPOS-=1/2, in FLAC use -DISC-=1 and -DISCC-=2, or -DISCNUMBER-=1/2
- If tagging with -MusicBrainz Picard-, a tag -MUSICBRAINZ ALBUM ID-
(for MP3) or -MUSICBRAINZ_ALBUMID- (for FLAC) will be added and used
by SC internally to keep an album together. [You#8217;d also help
other classical music lovers more easily tagging their albums if you
  enter yours into -MusicBrainz- ;-)]

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Spicefly sugarcube might prevent disk hibernation

2009-04-03 Thread mr_hyde

Hello,

i have made some strange observations regarding the disk hibernation on
my QNAP 439 and the SugarCube Plugin.

Usually the NAS goes into standby, when i've heard music via dynamic
playlist or MusicIP, internet radio,

When i enable the Sugarcube plugin, the hibernation does not work after
stopíng the music.

When i disable the plugin and hear just music as described above, the
NAS still does not go into standby.

When i switch to an internet radiostation after hearing music with
sugarcube and stop the radiostream, the NAS goes into standby as
expected.

This means, that i can 'repair' the standby behavior by switching to an
internet radio stream after the use of Sugarcube (strange).

I have used the QNAP tool to identify the processes that keeps on the
HDD's after the usage of SugarCube

Code:

  ...
  mysqld(13907): dirtied inode 6212065 (#sql_50f_0.MYI) on md0
  mysqld(13907): dirtied inode 6212090 (#sql_50f_0.MYD) on md0
  mysqld(13907): dirtied inode 6212065 (#sql_50f_0.MYI) on md0
  mysqld(13907): dirtied inode 6212090 (#sql_50f_0.MYD) on md0

  perl(1291): dirtied inode 6212065 (audioscrobbler.prefs.tmp) on md0
  ...

When i switch to an internet radio stream after Sugarcube (even just
for a few seconds), the disks go into standby and there are no messages
from the QNAQP tool.

I can see, that there is also a message regarding audiscrobbler, which
is not there, when i hear music from HDD without SugarCube (even
MusicIP works)

It seems to me that SugarCube performs some actions, even when the
music is stopped.

Are there any ideas??

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Sending music from Musicip

2009-04-03 Thread mikerob

With MusicIP on a Mac, if you hold down the alt key when selecting the
Send to Player icon, you can play the song or mix directly on the
Squeezebox.

When pressing the alt key on Send to Player, you get a menu with
Play All and a list of all your Squeezeboxes identified by their MAC
address (so it isn't the most user friendly option)

I've come across a number of undocumented features on the Mac version
of MusicIP that are revealed by pressing the various modifier keys on a
Mac.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien BBC - fails on Slimp3

2009-04-03 Thread bpa

It wasn't clear whether you edited the Alien custom-convert.conf file or
created your own and since you didn't say what was heard silence and
static are symptoms for two different problems. The advice below is
based on the fact you are on Windows and doing bit rate limiting.

First the flc mp3 will do nothing for AlienBBC which uses RTSP.

Second, bit rate limiting on transcoded streams does not work on
Windows. It works on Linux and OSX systems.

So you cannot use bit rate limiting to change the mp3 so you will need
to modify the RTSP behaviour when transcoding to MP3 which is the RTSP
MP3 * * entry in Alien custom-convert.conf.

This will affect all players using RTSP-MP3. I think you can use the
* * to limit to say SlimP3 players.

Can you check the following;

Since case 2 Softsqueeze works OK then mplayer, socketwrapper and flac
are working. NO need to worry about security s/w

To test 3.
* Open WebUI Settings/Advanced/Filetypes.
* There are 3 RTSP entries with dropdown boxes. Set the Flac and WAV
entries to disabled and you should be left with just MP3 enabled (with
mplayer/lame).

This will force AlienBBC to play using MP3 on all players - including
Softsqueeze.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien BBC - fails on Slimp3

2009-04-03 Thread bpa

The log shows that there is something about the settings SC has used
when streaming to SlimMP3. The SoftSuqeeze test shopws the basic
command settings are correct.

At the moment I can only suggest two things to try.

1. Edit the custom-convert.conf file in Plugins/Alien and change the
RTSP-MP3 entry to reduce speed of audio stream.
by changing $BITRATE$ to 64 for 64kbps.

[mplayer.sh] -really-quiet -vc null -vo null -bandwidth 1000 -cache
128 -af volume=0,resample=44100:0:1,channels=2 -ao
pcm:nowaveheader:file=/dev/fd/3 $FILE$ | [lame] --silent -r -x -q
$QUALITY$ -b 64 - -

2. Try increasing the Radio Station Timeout to 20 in
Settings/Advanced/Network

After changing the custom-convert.conf you will need to restart SC.

Changing the station timeout made no difference.

Changing the bitrate to 64K however did work. The Slimp3 now shows
'buffering xx%' and when it fills plays the station.

What does this tell us? Does this point us towards a better solution?

Thanks

C:\ProgramData\SqueezeCenter\Cache\Artwork.
Next I cleared the Browser Cache.
I then restarted SqzCtr and opened up the browser SqzCtr Web Interface.

The old artwork still shows for the tracks for which I just used the
plug-in to find artwork.

Let me tell you about my setup. The tracks that I am trying to find
artwork are single tracks located in a Genre Folder with a generic
Folder.jpg within that given folder.

For example, I have a folders named: Pop, RB, Hip-Hop, and so on.
Everything within these folders are single tracks and not full albums.
In most of these folders there is a generic jpg file named folder.jpg.
This folder.jpg is what shows up as artwork for these tracks. Even
after I use the plug-in to find artwork and cleared both the sqzctr
artwork cache and the browser cache.

I also noticed there is the following folder with the actual artwork dl
by the plug-in: C:\ProgramData\SqueezeCenter\Cache\FindArt

Also, initially the files were being named coverart--Simple
Minds-cover-0, coverart--Moby-cover-0, etc.

But now the cover art files are named some generic name that means
nothing (?) llIJ2pCaNL, DJYZmY7hoe, etc. etc.

Not sure if this helps or means anything.

Here are some of my settings for the plug-in:

Do a database scan after save: Yes

Save cover in special folder: Yes

Directory name for cover art:
C:\ProgramData\SqueezeCenter\Cache\FindArt

Cover art filename: cover.jpg

Ok. Hopefully this helps.

Thanks!
