[SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP Headless - strange problem

2009-05-08 Thread neilcoburn

I have used MusicIP headless without problems for several years now, but
I'm now trying to install it on a new server running Windows XP. I've
followed Spicefly's instructions and the advice on this thread:

http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=61583

I think I have a new problem however! The GUI works fine and my
8,000-odd tracks are fully analysed. I then closed the GUI, edited
mmm.ini to point to the default.m3lib in the application data folder,
set the port to 10002, and installed and started musicmagicserver.
http://localhost:10002 initialy showed 0 tracks. I then pointed it to
my music folder (on the same machine but separate drive) and it found
around 4,500 tracks, but not the full 8,000.

The headless version does not seem to be picking up any of my AAC
files, which seems to account for the difference. Does anyone know how I
can fix this? I'm not even sure whether I can 'reset' the headless
library and start again)

(Incidentally, I had previously set a filter in the GUI to filter out
non AAC files. I did this when I transferred my library to archive the
analysis, but ran into problems with AAC files due to a known MusicIP
issue with archiving analysis of AAC files. I've since deleted this
filter. Could this help with diagnosis?)

Any thoughts welcome!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] no musicip mix via lazy search

2009-05-08 Thread Stuart Hickinbottom
OK, I think I've fixed that in LazySearch 3.5.2 which I've just released
to my plugin repository:
http://www.hickinbottom.com/sc-plugins/repo.xml

Updates are usually picked up to the official Logitech repository within
a short while.

Thanks for finding the bug - I think this one will solve the problem for
you.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC 2.4a5 for 7.3.x beta available for testing

2009-05-08 Thread BodgeIT

OK, having searched through all the AlienBBC posts and tried various
things, I need to ask for some support:
I am unable to play any BBC streams through AlienBBC, all I get is
silence.

I am using: AlienBBC 2.4a5test7.3, Lame 3.98.2, Mplayer 1.0rc2.

The following files are located in c:\program
files\squeezece...\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread\ folder:
lame.exe, lame_enc.dll, mplayer.exe, medcoder.exe, mplayer_test.bat
There is also an mplayer folder with a file named 'config' in it.

I have disabled Wav Flac in File Types\RTSP and have the following
line in my custom-convert.xml:
[mplayer] -really-quiet -vc null -vo null -bandwidth 1000 -cache
128 -af volume=0,resample=44100:0:1,channels=2 -ao
pcm:nowaveheader:file=#PIPE# $FILE$ | [lame] --silent -r -q $QUALITY$ -b
$BITRATE$ - -

AlienBBC is available in the Internet Radio menu.
When I try any of the links, the link starts and then stops after about
5 or 10 secs. When I then play again, the play timer shows that stream
seems to have continued playing i.e. suddenly jumps upto 20 or 30 secs
continues for a few more then stops and goes back to 0.

When I try the mplayer test in the AlienBBC settings page, nothing
happens other than a page refresh.
When I try the maplyer_test.bat, The stream appears to play(got no
sound card on the WHS server so cannot verify) in that it doesn't stop
after a few seconds.

I get the following in my log file(after turning AlienBBC logging to
Debug):
http://pastebin.com/f29146057

When I try in Squeezeplay, i get Can't Open file for...rtsp://blah
blah

Interestingly when I select Staff Picks\By City\London\Radio 5 Live
News Sport, the stream does play(In all players inc Slimp3). Most of
the other BBC streams there however don't.

Thanks in advance.

Have you edited custom-convert.conf (no such file with xml) ?

Does it work if all the filetype settings are reset back to as

Irrelevant as that is a WMA stream and does not use any AlienBBC

I have been considering open sourcing it, but for now, it will stay
closed source. I'll put some more work into it at the end of May, so
stay tuned. :)

If I do open source, it will be under GPL, by the way.

AlienBBC wil not work with SliMP3 as insrtalled so do not use a SlimMP3
for testing.

What changes did you make to custom-convert.conf - please attach the
file ? Hidden chars or space in the wrong place can break it.

Do a log with player.source set to DEBUG as well as AlienBBC DEBUG.

See attached.

It seems this is partly a case of having tried too many things and
inconsistent and indiscriminate testing.

Although I had started to test from my SR I had moved and was testing
from Squuezeplay, I had also done some tests from Slimp3 and all with
various different streams. Daft I know but there you go.

Just retested on SR and it does play AlienBBC streams both live and
from 'archive'. Five Live doesn't play but I think I've read something
about that somewhere else?

Also tried again on Squeezeplay and it still won't play any streams.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC vs BBCiPlayer

Sorry if this has already been asked, but what is the difference between

Is it just a you pays your money you takes your choice? Unless I'm

duplication of effort here?

I'm not complaining as it means we have two great plugins.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC vs BBCiPlayer

2009-05-08 Thread bpa

iPlayer plugin only works in the UK and has better quality audio and no
transcoding so no server load and works on all servers (e.g. ReadyNAS)
because no mplayer dependency.

So it is a no-brainer

1. If you are UK based - use iPlayer.
2. If you are not in the UK - no choice only AlienBBC works.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SqueezeControl for Android announcement and support thread

2009-05-08 Thread jay_cee_in_da_house

Thanks for making this great app!

Here is a little feedback from my experience using it:

1) If squeezecontrol is looking for a client player that is no longer
there, it crashes. (I have squeezeslave on one of my PCs that tends to
come and go).
2) How about the Genres category? You have just about everything else.
3) Its hard to navigate through long lists of artists/albums - I get
tired of flicking the screen. The android contacts application has a
little tab that appears on the right hand side of the screen that allows
you to grab it and quickly scroll through the index alphabetically. If
that is a standard tool in the API, it would be a great addition to
squeezecontrol.

looking forward to future update...

-J

Judging from the custom-convert.conf file you have been trying out
fixes which are not appropriate. It's possible you still have not
undone all your mods.

FiveLive on AlienBBC will not work for UK user as there a problem in
the UK RealAudio URL but it makes no sense to use the Five Live
RealAudio URL.

a player.source set to DEBUG log may provide info about SqueezePlay but
since AlienBBC works OK on an SBR I suspect the problem is elsewhere.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] 7.3 and XM radio

2009-05-08 Thread raglencross

I have had the opportunity to play around with the revised XM plugin
over the last few days. Other than the lack of a XM button on the SB3
as previously noted, I see there is a problem with displaying correct
track information in the web UI and on the SB3. The display of this
info is slow to start and when it does, it alternates between the
correct track particulars and apparently those from other channels. FYI,
I am also having problems with track info on the latest versions of
Squeezeplay and bpa's beta update to Softsqueeze, but that is a matter
for another time.

Some other points:
As for Now Playing on the right side of the web UI,track info is slow
to display or doesn't show up at all for the categories on the left side
of the web UI, such as Presets and Browse Stations.

Track info on the left side of the web UI does not update. If I
remember correctly, this was also the case with earlier versions of the
plugin. It would be a nice touch to have the tracks constantly
refreshed, if that is possible.

I of course don't know if these glitches are particular to me, so would
be interested to hear your observations.
