Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2009-05-09 Thread Dingostrategy

Dear friends,

Props on such a fine product. It exceeds my expectations in terms of
the GUI and the performance. Lovely. It took some getting used to, but I
have never used iPods or phones before, so it is probably highly
intuitive for users of these machines. I bought the touch over the
controller - also to have a handheld internet reader, but thats for a
different thread.

My issues is as follows:

When iPeng starts, and the SB3 or SB3s are connected directly to SN,
the players are not recognised by iPeng. I have to either use the
remotes to come back into SC or else SC via browser.

It works ok the other way, iPeng obviosuly recognises players that are
connected to SC, and they can be connected to SN via iPeng.

Am I doing something wrong?

Many thanks!

Dingo (India via Australia)

I'd like to ask this question too. My nearest airports are a long way

(WG codes: IENGLAND188  IENGLAND65).

Is it possible to get Weathertime to use these stations directly (I
have tried using the codes but the plugin can't get data)?

I find Wunderground.com is terribly confusing. Although both stations
above are in Chailey (South and North respectively) Wunderground seems
to aggregate their data as Ringmer or Newhaven (depending on how you try
to get to it on the site).

Ringmer is the nearest of the two towns and when I enter Ringmer as
the City in Weathertime the display works but the data is different from
that on the web site
(http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=ringmerwuSelect=WEATHER).
I can't work out why.

I'm using version 2.2.1

It'd be very useful if Weathertime could display correctly on the Boom
(font: standard narrow). My display looks like this (note that the
screensaver has caused the alarm icon (bell) to increase in size).

Erland

I have installed the DynamicPlaylist and SQLPLaylist plugins within the
/var/lib/squeezecenter/Plugins directory of my Ubuntu 8.10 installation.
I have made the folders owner of the squeezecenter user. When I try to

Ehen I hit save. The squeezecenter owner has write access within the
/var/lib/squeezecenter/Plugins folder, and I recurrsively added write
acces for the user to the subdirectories. Why can't I save the
playlist?

Thanks in advance,

iPeng currently works a bit different from the controller in that it
always shows only the players that are connected to the server you are
currently connected to, so if iPeng is connected to your SC and the
players are on SN, you can't see them.
You can switch to SN by selecting SqueezeNetwork from the Music

I managed to resolve the problem - the squeezecenter user wasn't part of
the group that I had allowed access to the folder where my Playlists are

I have a question on your plugins though. I have added a Random
genre to the tracks that I have deemed suitable to be part of a random
mix, so a track say Let It Be by The Beatles as its GENRE tag set as
Rock;Random so that it is part of both the Rock and Random genres.

I want to play Random songs from all of my tracks that have the Random
genre. However I would like to avoid having tracks by the same artist
added to the playlist if there has been one in the last 30 say. Is this
possible?

Hello

I'm having trouble starting iPeng 1.1. When I tap the application icon
from the main iPod menu I see the iPeng by PenguinLovesMusic.com
screen but then nothing happens. After about 10 seconds, the iPod
returns to the main menu. While the iPeng screen is displaying I cannot
tap anything or scroll or access any settings etc.

I'm using Squeezecentre 7.3.2 on Windows XP which is wired to a Belkin
N1 wireless modem router. I have a single Squeezebox which is connected
wirelessly to the modem/router. Music plays fine using the standard
remote. The modem/router is not connected to the internet. The wireless
network is encrypted and the iPod is connected to it.

Sorry if I've missed something but I've read the installation
instructions and this thread and can't find anything helpful!

Did it never work?
Please try to start it with all communication (Wifi, network) disabled
and restart. If that helps you might want to set settings-iPeng
settings-forget last server to on.

Did you upgrade from an earlier version? In this case uninstalling and
reinstalling iPeng could help.

Also, please try the upgrade to 1.1.1

Oh, and please make sure your player has a name. This issue should be
fixed in 1.1.1 but it's in any way not a legal state for a player to
not have a name (legal as of SqueezeCenter)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Wave Input plugin v1.00

2009-05-09 Thread dazbarber

Hi,

I tried to use waveinput a while back but had to give in as I could
only get the input from my webcam's microphone through squeezebox.
However, now that I have started to use Spotify, waveinput is a
must-have plugin!

I have just installed the lastest version for Squeezecenter 7.3.2 and
once again, I am hearing my webcam's microphone through squeezebox.
I have been into XP's audio setup from control panel and everything
appears to be correct. I have no problem recording on the PC in
general.
I have searched and found the instructions for determining the order of
audio devices and am given this:

C:\PROGRA~1\SlimServer\server\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-threadwavin2cmd.exe
-l
SB Audigy 2 Audio [FF40]
Modem #1 Line Record
Modem #3 Line Record
VideoMate BDA Audio Capture
Logitech Mic (Communicate STX)

I believe that this is how it should be, so why am I hearing the
Webcam's microphone? I have no other microphones plugged in and I have
What u Hear selected as my recording input (from the soundcard
mixer).

Any ideas as to what could be going wrong?

Thanks,

Daz

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Moose installation problems

2009-05-09 Thread ckllrvlk

Ok, I got it working and just in case it might help somebody else I will
post what I had to do:

First I followed all of the Moose instructions. The problem I was
having was caused by the fact that there are two configuration files for
MySql on the ReadyNas.

My setup:
ReadyNas NV+
Squeezecenter 7.2
PC client XP SP2

When I sshd into the nas I navigated to the directory
/usr/share/squeezecenter/MySQL
this is the directory that contains the my.tt file which looks like the
following:

Code:

  datadir   = [% datadir %]
  language  = [% language %]
  port  = [% port || 9092 %]
  socket= [% socket %]
  pid-file  = [% pidFile %]
  log-error = [% errorLog %]
  innodb_fast_shutdown  = 1
  max_connections   = 4
  thread_concurrency= 4
  log-warnings  = 0
  # bind-address  = [% bindAddress %]
  default-character-set = utf8
  default-collation = utf8_general_ci
  key_buffer= 2M
  max_allowed_packet= 1M
  table_cache   = 64
  sort_buffer_size  = 512K
  net_buffer_length = 8K
  read_buffer_size  = 256K
  read_rnd_buffer_size  = 512K

  [client]
  socket= [% socket %]

The only change I made to this file was to comment out the bind-address
option. I'm not sure this is even necessary but Ididn't bother to change
it back to test.

Now the part that had me stumped:
On the ReadyNas navigate to /etc/mysql
in this directory you will find my.cnf this file looks like:

Code:

  [client]
  port= 3306
  socket  = /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock

  [isamchk]
  key_buffer  = 16M

  - my.cnf 74/74 100%

The line to find here is the skip-networking line. This line needs to
be commented out.

Once I commented the line I had to go back and set the port to 3306 and
the user to slimserver with no password.

Now it works like a charm. I hope this helps.

Nope. Multiple players makes no difference.

The explanation from Pippin is also redundant in your case - i.e. my
problem was that if, say, reconnected the player to SN (using remote or
browser), but iPeng was asleep, iPeng does not recognise the players
until it is also connected to that server..

Buuut, that's not your case, since you don't use SN. I shuttup now

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Wave Input plugin v1.00

2009-05-09 Thread Mick Seymour

More info gives me a 404 error to.

You need to create a Favourite called whatever you like. Mine is called
'Line In'. In the URL you enter wavin: followed by the hardware id of
the capture channel on your sound card. To play whatever is coming into
your PC via the line-in of the sound card, you play that favourite.

Mine is set to wavin:hw:0,0,0. The alluded to standard of wavin:default
didn't work with my card so I had to learn more about my UNIX ALSA sound
drivers than I ever wanted to :-0

I'm sorry but I can't help with what it might be under Windows for your
sound card. As I said, I set mine up by trial and error whilst reading
the posts in the forum.

Mick Seymour is on the right lines but he has give device info for Linux
devices which are not relevant to Windows.

First make sure you record (using recorder accessory) the audio output.
Do not use Spotify as the test source as it does special things with
audio output and is not good for testing, so use a simple stream such as
Groovesalad.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Softsqueeze problem...

2009-05-09 Thread Hildebrandt

Running SC 7.3.2 - 24695

Setup with reciever+controller and then added softsqueeze - everything
worked fine. I then purchased a second controller and added this to the
setup with no problem - everything worked fine...
A few days after that i had network problem - had to shut off the
router/DHCP and then on again. Approx. 30 secs after this the computer
running SC restarted... When it came online i had to do factory resets
on both controllers to get them to connect to SC - the reciever + 2
controllers now work as they should...
Softsqueeze now doesn't work - when i try to play music the display of
the controllers say music is playing: the first 30 secs of the selected
song plays and then it starts over again... but i hear no music...
When i use the softsqueeze directly on the server there still is no
audio - but at least the song doesn't restart after 30 secs...
The computer running softsqueeze works as it should - using wmp i can
play (and hear) music without any problems...

Somebody help me - whats happening

2009-05-09 Thread paqi

Hi Pippin,

I have upgraded to 1.1 and I have some issues to report.

I am running 7.3.2 on XP

1. It takes longer to connect to the squeezebox when starting up than i
did in 1.05. I ave the same settings as in 1.05 and only 1 server.
2. When I pause a radio program it stops the music but it does not stop
in Squeezecenter so the pc keeps running but without any music from the
speakers.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Jeppe.

Ah, I see what you were alluding too. I'd done that already. This is
what plays my webcam output. I've just tried changing the text to

Yes, I can can record with Audigy and the like with no problems at all.
Is there anything else I can type in the favourites link to enable
capture from my soundcard?

Thanks,

Ugh. You'll see that sort of behavior when a plugin has code that
crashes when attempting to handle a web request. Normally SqueezeCenter
will log a helpful error message in the server log when that happens.
Would you mind trying again and letting me know what turns up in the

Do you have a folder in your playlists folder named PlayLogSongLogs?
Does it contain files with names like 200905.xml?

In the audio devices list I have:
SB Audigy 2 Audio [FF40]
Modem #1 Line Record
Modem #3 Line Record
VideoMate BDA Audio Capture
Logitech Mic (Communicate STX)

The What u Hear seems to be associated with the Audigy. I select it
from the XP mixer when the Audigy is selected as the mixer device. If I
select the webcam as the mixer device, I only get the option of
'Capture'. The Videomate TV card gives me the option of 'Audio' when
selected as the mixer device. But the Audigy is selected as the default
device in the CP sound setup (from Control Panel).

Edit: There is also a SoundMax soundcard integrated on my motherboard,
but this is disabled

The list is not a list of audio devices but a list of audio sources. For
example the list does not include audio output which is the important
aspect for what u hear.

I'll ask the same question differently - is the Audigy an addin card
and has the motherboard of your PC got a sound output socket (usually
light green).

When you go to Sound control panel/audio tab when you select Audigy
as the default device. Click Volume and then detail all the
settings.

1. What inputs are available.
2. Which inputs are selected
3. What are the volume settings.

Sorry...

Yes, the audigy is an add-on card (which was added in-factory). The
Motherboard does have an on-board sound card (it has never been used and
it doesn't show up anywhere as I believe it is disabled in BIOS).

When visiting the panel you describe and clicking volume, I am sent to
the XP sound mixer which shows the 'play control' levels. These are:
Wave, MIDI Synth, CD Digital, Auxiliary, CD Audio, Line-in and
Microphone. None are muted and all but the microphone have their levels
between 30 and 100%.

If I change the mixer to show 'Recording Control', I am shown sliders
for:
MIDI synth, What-U-Hear, S/PDIF-In, CD Digital, Analog Mix,
Microphone and Wave. Once again, all faders are between 30 and 100% and
What-U-Hear is selected (and at about 70%).

The odd thing is that the Wave Input plugin is definitely capturing
from my webcam as I have no other microphones connected to the computer
(the microphone socket on my Audigy soundcard is not connected to
anything).

Everything else seems to be working fine (including MIDI etc - I'm a
music teacher and composer/arranger by trade and have never encountered
any problems either with MIDI, wave files or CD). Fingers crossed that
I can get this sorted.

Thanks for your help.

 Forgive me but how I do uninstall and reinstall?

Touch and hold the program icon on the iPhone's start screen, when it
starts to wobble, press the x to uninstall.
You reinstall it through the AppStore. Don't worry if it says you have
to buy it again, you won't.
Another alternative is to use iTunes, there's an Applications tab in
the device pane (NOT the section on the left below your library). Here
you can deselect iPeng, sync, select it again and sync again.

There are some reports that iPeng is having trouble to start up when
there is no connection to the internet (that is, the router's internet
connection is off). Could it be that?

iPeng does not automatically move the player to SqueezeNetwork when you
change the Music Source. The reason for this is that a lot of users have
more than one player and do not necessarily want to switch all their
players to SN at the same time.
So you have to switch the player to SN before you change the source or
the player will still be connected to SC and so you can see it only when
iPeng is also connected to SC.

See more:

This will get more convenient in iPeng 1.2

I think the wavin2cmd only supports PCM stream with 16bit/44.1kHz

Typically if microphone is configured as a playback device you will get
feedback. So just because the device is on the list doesn't mean it is
not causing any problem.

The issue is not quality but that wavin2cmd may not be able to take
an audio feed from an incompatible source whereas if SoundForge has
conversion routine - it may be able to use the source. For this reason
the Recorder accessory can be a better test app as it has minimal
functionality and no conversion so you can do limited checking of the
audio source settings by examining the format of the recording.

Ok, I've just performed a test recording using the basic XP 'Sound

SqueezeNetwork can't show your local library since it doesn't have

You should try the wavin2cmd command directly with different input
devices and play the wav file after each run. Try 0 to 6

wavin2cmd.exe -w -o wavin:0  audiocapture.wav

I have a vague feeling that there may have been a problem using device
number after wavin: and so perhaps you could also try with the -i or
or -d option with device number and name respectively.
