Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Needing basic help on SBC plugins
iisfaq;457456 Wrote: Hi all I need some real basic help. How do I start creating a plugin for the SqueezeBox Duet controller? I have read the WIKI and followed the details at: wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/SqueezePlay_Applet_Guide At the end it says to follow the link to this page: wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/SqueezePlay_Applets This page states Please note this page is out of date and will be updated for 7.3 which uses an alternative mechanism to download applets to the Squeezebox Controller. I am running 7.3.3 - so what gives - how do I do this? My recommendation would be to download Squeezeplay Desktop and look at some existing applets. The information on the wiki with sample applets tend to be out of date since no one takes the time to update it. iisfaq;457456 Wrote: And how to I publish to the SqueesePlay? With Squeezeplay Desktop it's possible to select between several skins, so you can use it to simulate the screen size of a Controller or if you use Squeezeplay Desktop 7.4 you can also simulate a Touch or Radio. During development it's easiest to use SqueezePlay desktop because then you can put your applet files directly in the correct place in the Squeezeplay Desktop installation and edit them in place and just restart Squeezeplay Desktop to look at the changes. I'm not sure how they are installed on Windows, but in my Linux installation of Squeezeplay Desktop I have a share/jive/applets directory that contains all applets. During development I just add my own sub directory here with my own applet. When you are releasing something which you want other people to use you will need a repository XML file with and applets element with your applet. The download address to this repository XML file is configured in the Extension Downloader tab (or Plugins tab in 7.4) in SqueezeCenter. You can look at my testing repository XML file for a sample which contains the Information Screen applet: http://erlandplugins.googlecode.com/svn/repository/trunk/testing.xml iisfaq;457456 Wrote: Also is there an IDE that people use to develop plugins? I can't think you write this stuff in notepad.exe and then install into squeezeplay and find it does not work and then go back to notepad and edit it manually! I see that there are IDE's for LUA - should I be using one of these? I'm using Linux so I use gedit which basically is notepad.exe with syntax highlighting. For someone like me who normally works with modern Java IDE's it feels very basic, so if there is something better I also like to know. You at least want something that's able to show the code with syntax highlighting coloring. Everything is better is better than notepad.exe so at least use a editor made for programmers, Notepad++ is one step in the right direction. I've tried some IDE's for perl development but I always got stuck setting up all dependencies in the IDE project so I reverted back to a simple editor. If there is something that works for lua development I also like to know. iisfaq;457456 Wrote: I really just want to take an existing plugin and modify it - like a hello world. But I find that the WIKI is lacking and needs updating by someone who actually knows this stuff. As I said above, it's best to look at one of the bundled applets. Find one that's somewhat similar to what you like to do. There are some sample applets bundled which even have a license that allows direct copying, these are stored in the Test and Bounce directories. All the other other applets currently have the Logitech Public Source licensing that doesn't allow you to re-distribute your changes but Logitech has said that they are going to make most of them free to change and redistribute. I've personally decided that I'm probably fine as long as I don't do anything that will decrease Logitech's earnings on the Squeezebox hardware. If you have questions, I think it's better to post in the Developers sections since most developers read that section. Also, unless you are already aware of it, many things that are shown on the Controller is actually implemented in perl in SqueezeCenter. So if you just want to add a menu with some functionality behind it you might want to write a perl plugin instead of a lua applet. However, it's hard to say since we don't know what type of applet you like to do. iisfaq;457456 Wrote: Is there a basic tutorial that explains what tools I need to use and the process to install and debug my scripts? I would have thought that the WIKI would have all of this. I've no idea if it's possible to debug, I've so far just used the logging mechanism. If you use Squeezeplay Desktop you can enable logging on various levels. -- erland Erland Isaksson 'My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info) (Install my plugins through Extension Downloader) (Developer of 'TrackStat, SQLPlayList, DynamicPlayList, Custom Browse, Custom Scan, Custom Skip, Multi Library, Title Switcher and Database

Sorry if I'm sounding stupid (put it down to my age)., but i've lost the iPlayer and I cannot find how to get it back. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Softsqueeze / Snow Leopard
With my limited knowledge of the inner workings of OSx it seems that both have the same permissions. My problem is that the WebUI of SC7.3.4 offers a category called Extras; clicking the Install button on SS3.7 results in a download of a .app whereas the same action for SS3.9b1 fails. The last time I installed 3.9b1 on SC7.2 it worked fine. Seems strange and rather perplexing. I am loath to remove all aspects of SqueezeCentre and start again since the basic program is working well. However, could do this if it clears a logjam. Bit of a pain redoing all the configuration settings again though - is there a setting file or two that I should copy and reinstall? Or would all that be a waste of time anyway? None of this is, of course, vital in the great scheme of things but it would be really good to get everything working smoothly again. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Softsqueeze / Snow Leopard
The basic problem is that the webstart application cannot download the jnlp file when it is presented as an URL. This URL is found in another html page which presents the checkboxes on the Squeezecenter Softsqueeze page. So the problem is odd that two files in the same directory, served by the same http server - one file is served and other isn't. Furthermore, this setup works for most users on most OSs but doesn't on Snow Leopard. That seems to point to a SNow Leopard setup issue. The main difference between the two files is the jnlp file is served with MIME type of application/x-java-jnlp-file - does your security block this MIME type ? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Softsqueeze / Snow Leopard
No, the previous installation of 3.9b1 was on Leopard not Snow Leopard so probably irrelevant here. I'm sure that you are right about the security problem but all I'm using is inbuilt rather than specified by a firewall. I agree that it is very strange that two near identical downloads work differently. Your efforts are greatly appreciated and maybe someone else will chime in with a lightbulb moment that explains how to overcome the issue. To summarise the two quirks we've been discussing here: 1. A new install of the SoftSqueeze .app 3.9b1 won't download (listing in past message) when activated from the web UI of SqueezeCenter 7.3.4 although SS 3.7 will do so without problem. 2. My old download of 3.9b1 is still on the Mac - it worked fine under SC 7.2 but now won't run under SC 7.3.4 (listing in past message above). So, even if 1. worked, 2. probably wouldn't. I'm now on Snow Leopard 10.6.1 which is the update recently issued by Apple but still hasn't fixed my issues. The Java version is SE6 as supplied with Snow Leopard. I guess by using the API I'm putting less load on their server compared to screenscraping the whole website ? But you are right - I'll put some sort of image-caching on the todo-list - together with reducing the update-frequency to say 1-2 hours. Really appreciate your comments ! I installed WeatherTime yesterday, and I'm very happy with it. However, I noticed that the current temperature is nowhere near correct for my area (I entered by UK city in the Wunderground city field). Having called the Wunderground API URL that is being used by WeatherTime to get the current temperature (in my browser), I found that Wunderground is returning a seemingly random temperature - not from a weather station near me at all. I had a look at the Wunderground API, and it would appear that I can use a different API call to get the data for a specific PWS (personal weather station). When I do this, the XML data returned contains a much more realistic current temperature. I have therefore performed the following modifications to my install of WeatherTime, and wondered if the community was interested in my changes being added to the standard release. - Added a field in settings to allow a PWS to be specified - Changed $CURRENT_QUERY_URI to use http://api.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXCurrentObXML.asp - Changed format for current temp to display to 1 decimal place -- attenuator attenuator's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14233 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=21989 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I have made a custom tag named OWNER in MP3tag and look what Custom Scan would do. 1) OWNER Tag in ID3v2.3 format is scanned well and selected. 2) OWNER Tag in ID3v2.4 format is scanned well and selected. The conclusion is Custom does read ID3v2.4 format *but!*: An ORIGYEAR tag in ID3v2.3 format is scanned well and selected but an ORIGYEAR tag in ID3v2.4 format is *not selected*. I have tried different tagsnames to scan: ORIGINALYEAR, TDOR, %TDOR%, %ID3:TDOR%, ID3:TDOR, but nothing happened. I thought that the ORIGYEAR tag in ID3v2.3 format is the TORY frame and the ORIGYEAR tag in ID3v2.4 format is the TDOR frame. Erland, if you have time, can you please look why the ORIGYEAR tag in ID3v2.4 format is not selected? I realy do not want to downgrade all my files to ID3v2.3, just because the ORIGYEAR tag cannot be selected by if I use the ID3v2.4 format. -- wowo wowo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=18033 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=67526 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I find, though, that the schedule lists from iPlayer and AlienBBC are not identical. Can you give some specific examples. Is it a case of AlienBBC * showing more days * fewer or more programs on a specific days * different programs for the same time slot compared to BBCiPlayer -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=67455 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Inguz processing sweeps
Hey I'm trying to set up Inguz room correction using DRC to process the sweeps. So far I've managed to go around ImpulsePrep utility expiration date (06/01/09) by setting the system's time before. Unfortunately i'm still unable to obtain room correction filters out of this... Here what's DRC's log indicating before failing Final allpass convolution... Ringing truncation final windowing. Counting target response definition file points: flat.txt Target response definition file points: 0 Allocating target response arrays. Reading target response definition file: flat.txt Target response point file input failed. Can anyone explain what i'm doing wrong? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SqueezeIR - A Generic Infra-Red Remote Control Applet for the Duet's SBC
Awesome, now I don't have to reach for another remote to turn on/off my receiver. I was also able to customize the main menu description for this applet. Open strings.txt and rename Squeeze IR text to whatever you want displayed in the squeezebox controller main menu. -- Keagy Keagy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=23301 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=66795 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: FindArt plugin beta
yeah i think being multi-platform is great, I was just thinking maybe there is some other way to access the amazon db without requiring users to get an aws ID. MAybe it is only for windows (I haven't looked into this at all, tagscanner was just an example). Anyway, looking forward to see what you come up with... g -- sublemon sublemon's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32789 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49245 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
