If I navigate to a genre in iPeng, hold down the Various Artists item
and then select play from the resulting popup menu the wrong album
plays. In fact whatever genre I choose the *same* single album always
plays. I've checked my tags on the album and they all seem correct. All
the tracks are tagged with same, single genre too (Ambient).

These are my relevant SqueezeboxServer settings:

* Composer, Band and Orchestra in Artists (all choices checked)
* Group compilation albums together (checked)
* Treat TPE2 MP3 tag as Album Artist (checked)
* List albums by all artists for that album (checked)
* Only show tracks or albums matching the selected genre for an artist

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] XM radio plugin with 7.4?

2009-10-12 Thread NJRonbo

Hello everyone!

After a year or two of putting my Squeezebox aside I decided
to hook it up again with the new software.

I am an XM radio subscriber paying for additional online streaming.

Was a bit disturbed to find the SIRIUS plug-in does not work if you
have an XM account. Thought they were SIRIUS/XM now.

Anyhow, thanks to a search, I found this thread. I look forward to
an XM plug-in being made available.

Question while I am here

Will Squeezebox work on its own to stream online content without
a computer?

For example, if I take my squeezebox to work and connect it to their
WiFi, can I still get XM RADIO (when available) without the need of a
computer to stream it?

Thanks in advance and I am subscribing to this thread in hopes of
a plug-in announcement.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Moose 0.72

2009-10-12 Thread Dr Lovegrove
Ok, new build of Moose up in the usual places.

The radios should work once more with the newer servers - seems the
CLI command 'music_services' was been renamed to 'apps'

There's a few new bits and pieces too..
* New 'Info' tab in library system for showing extra info about the
currently playing music. Currently supports biography and album review
plugins (so make sure you install them), and requires manual
refreshes.
* The Shuffle and Repeat buttons in the now playing view have dropdown menus
* New bubbles background mode (dont get too excited !)

Enjoy,

NJ:

No, you need a server to use the XMRadio plugin.

For the time being, you'll need to install one of the previous versions
of squeezecenter, e.g., 7.3.3. There's a new feature in the 7.4
squeezeboxserver that refuses to perform background I/O during an idle,
so I'll have to prepare a new version.

Is it slow while typing or the final search after you press Search or

searches for more items and more track details, too.

Can you tell me what OS you use for SC?
And you Region and Language Settings on the iPhone.
This works for me to the extend that SBS/SC works: holländ should
 find holland AND Holländer.

Well, the search is slow both before I hit the Search button and after,
i.e. if I type some letters, it's ~10 seconds before anything shows up,
and when I hit Search, it's again ~10 seconds before the track details
aare shown.

The lack of feedback while the application is searching makes it a bit
hard to figure out what is going on. I realize that if search is very
quick on your machine, this hasn't seemed necessary, but when the search
takes 10 seconds, the lack of some feedback saying Searching or
similar makes the interface confusing.

As for the diacritic signs, things started working once I turned on
Swedish as my iPod language. When I go back to English for language (but
still with Swedish keyboard), the search for holländ fails again. I
can live with Swedish as my language, but I prefer that this would work
even when my iPod is set to English.

I spoke too soon: the language setting of the iPod has nothing to do
with it.

Here's what happens: I have an album called Flygande holländaren and
on this album there are several tracks, also called Flygande
holländaren.

When I type hollä, after a while, the track Lowlands of Holland
shows up as the only result. This is the automatic search, without
hitting the Search button.

However, once I hit the Search button, the tracks called Flygande
holländaren show up (but no longer Lowlands of Holland), but the
album Flygande holländaren doesn't show up.

So in sum, the automatic search seems to search for holland rather
than holländ, while the search after hitting the Search button
searches for holländ, but still only matches on track titles, not
albums.

Bth, I run the server on Ubuntu Linux.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Plugin for Universal Remote Control

2009-10-12 Thread satmarshall

Does a plugin exist for the SB3 to make it function as a universal
remote control, preferably with an ipod Touch applet like Ipeng, acting

I found an ipod applet called Bobby which uses Global Cache's GC100
network gateway as the IR repeater. The GC100 is a network enabled
device that issues the IR commands that it receives on the network. The
SB3 has all of the essential hardware already in it so something similar
could be created out of squeezeboxes too.

If I navigate to a genre in iPeng, hold down the Various Artists item
and then select play from the resulting popup menu the wrong album
plays. In fact whatever genre I choose the *same* single album always
plays. I've checked my tags on the album and they all seem correct. All
the album's tracks are tagged with same, single genre too (Ambient).

Could you try whether flushing the cache solves it?

On the players screen, press the Edit-Mode button on the top right.
You can then either drag'n'drop players onto each other or select
players and select the sync button on the toolbar on the bottom of the
screen.

So in sum, the automatic search seems to search for holland rather
than holländ, while the search after hitting the Search button
searches for holländ, but still only matches on track titles, not
 albums.

Bth, I run the server on Ubuntu Linux.

iPeng sends whatever you enter to the server. How it's interpreted
there is a different story.
Could you find out the language settings of your server (ubuntu
language settings) and whether the server is set to use UTF8, the latter
will definitely be required (there's language settings with or without
utf8).

If it's a menu that's based on Mixed Tag scanning module data it
might be caused by data being scanned by both standard Squeezebox Server
scanner and Custom Tag scanning module in Custom Scan. If this is the
case, you either need to remove the tag in question from the Custom Tag
scanning module configuration, or remove it from the Mixed Tag scanning
module configuration.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Import iTunes data from a network computer

2009-10-12 Thread erland

If you install Custom Scan plugin, you should be able to use the iTunes
Statistics Import scanning module provided by TrackStat through the
Custom Scan settings page.

I think this currently is the only solution if the paths used in iTunes
differs from the paths used in Squeezebox Server.

However, please note that at the moment some users have reported
problems with the iTunes Statistics Import module when used together
with iTunes 9.0 or later.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Inguz and 7.4

My install of 7.4 was a clean one.

I'm hoping that Hugh hasn't set Inguz DRC aside permanently. I have
some monitors confined to bookcases for safety reasons, and Inguz makes
the best of the less than ideal placement.

It might be time to start looking into other options.

Specifically, what's the Music path in Squeezebox Server parameter

Does that solve your problems ?
