Hi there, Instead of starting a new thread, I thought I'd just build on this one, as it's similar to the problem I'm having. Downloaded all three files (slimnas-install.sh, squeezeboxserver-7.5.0.tgz, and slimnas.tgz), and put them all on an existing CIFS share on my freenas system. The installation looked like it went ok as per the instruction... However, SqueezeCenter just won't start. It says that it might take a minute, but several hours later, nothing. Downloaded all three files (slimnas-install.sh, squeezeboxserver-7.5.0.tgz, and slimnas.tgz), and put them all on an existing CIFS share on my freenas system. Do you now see a squeezeboxserver folder in that share? What about the server.log (from the web UI)? What FreeNAS version are you running? Couldn't open the URL as it is looking for the correct image but with '_480x272' at the end, which doesn't exist. That's SBS' way to resize images. What's the full url and original filename? Maybe I'm missing the point, excuse-me if so - but let me ask U something: - If, after selecting, for example, 'TOP rated songs' in trackstat, ipeng indeed loads the 20 top songs to the screen (don't know if internally it receives more than 20 ,maybe the 50 or so, set in web) - wouldn't it be possible for ipeng sending those items already listed to nowplaying playlist? I mean, maybe it´s not supposed to work like this, but it seems you DO have the information in iphone...so when you choose to play 2nd song in the list, it loads 2nd song and all of the list after it. Would probably take a minute or so and no idea what the outcome would be. For TrackStat, it's completely impossible. The way the menus work, iPeng doesn't know what's in there. Take Rhapsody (which is a similar menu), Rhapsody has a dozen menu items or so beyond the simple tracks. Or the Songs menu, that doesn't contain any tracks at all. iPeng depends on the plugin to tell it what to do with the content and what it is (in this case: that it's a playlist). And if the plugin says: This is not a playlist and you can only play single tracks, iPeng can't play the whole list. It's as simple as that. Stupid question, but how do I get you the server.log? Is that the log under Diagnostics? There doesn't seem to be anything SC / Slimnas related. The exact error message is: Squeezebox Server is not available. Please note that it might take a minute or more for the service to be available after a restart. Please refresh this page to check the status again. (Update status) There are also a /usr and a /var and a /etc folder in the same slimnas share. Am I way off? No, there is only a squeezebox folder, and not squeezeboxserver. My bad - that's fine. Stupid question, but how do I get you the server.log? Is that the log under Diagnostics? There doesn't seem to be anything SC / Slimnas related. There's a tab in the SlimNAS web UI. There are also a /usr and a /var and a /etc folder in the same slimnas share. the logs would be in the var folder. Am I way off? Couple of questions before I take the plunge: Background - Latest SB server running on WHS, SB2 and SB Classic players, main control UI is iPeng, occasionally use IR remote and web UI. 1. WHS uses Lightsout to auto S3 at night and wake in the AM. In your instructions, you state that the RS2 app must be up prior to starting SBS. Can this be configured to happen automatically at boot time with no user input? 2. Anyone running on WHS, successfully? 3. My SB2 uses IR blaster to control a Denon DRA-295 stereo receiver which I take full advantage of, i.e. SB volume control is locked and iPeng controls Denon volume; SB2 on/off triggers Denon on/off. Seems to me it would be possible to build a SBS plugin that controls the receiver via IR blasting, rather than leveraging a PC based radio tuner. Have you considered this type of solution? Thanks! How do I get the Random Song menu for Classical Music to show up inside my Classical Menu Group (on the Squeezebox Controller)? In settings/information the plug ins folders are defined as C:\PROGRA~1\SQUEEZ~2\server\Slim\Plugin, C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\Cache\InstalledPlugins\Plugins, C:\PROGRA~1\SQUEEZ~2\server\Plugins ... but non of those actually exist on my PC? OK - let's forget about plug in directories. I think that was all a red herring, i.e. not the cause/solution to my problem. I have removed Squeezebox Server from my system with the standard Control Panel facility, then reinstalled Squeezebox Server Version: 7.5.0 - r30464. I then tried to reapply Custom Browse with the extension downloader. I get to the point where it appears in the section headed Updated plugins available with an empty check box. I keep checking the box and hitting Apply and restarting Squeezebox Server, but it never installs it, I just go round in circles. After trying several times I added the IPlayer extension again and that went in no problem, still leaving Custom Browse in the Updated plugins available with an empty check box. Perhaps I need to do it manually? To do this do I just unzip the download folder and put the files into the Plugins directory? I'm not sure it's possible at the moment but what you can do is to create a new menu in Custom Browse based on the Dynamic Playlists menu template and specify a Playlist group in the menu configuration. In SQL Playlist, you can set your playlist to this group by specifying the Groups parameter. This will make it possible to put the playlist group inside the Classical menu, you will still have an extra menu level to reach the actual playlist but it might be good enough. You could try to enable debug logging on plugin.extensions in SBS Settings/Advanced/Logging and make sure the Save logging settings for use at next application restart checkbox is checked. This should create some debug info in the server.log file when you try to install a plugin. OK - I have unzipped the CustomBrowse download file into the plugins folder and restarted - and woopee I now have Custom Browse. But all of my old menus are still visible so perhaps the problem all along was the previous installation which still existed somewhere - goodness knows where - and was stopping the install via the extension downloader. I completely removed Squeezebox Server, and manually deleted all of the directories I could find but it was still lurking somewhere. Anyone live in Chicago? I created a new plugin that utilizes SuperDateTime's external API to display configurable bus ETAs. By using the external API I was able to create this plugin in a matter of hours, pretty cool. I figured I'd release this on a smaller audience to get any feedback before posting it officially on the website and main repo. Please give it a shot by adding the following repo- http://www.gregbrown.net/squeeze/repo2.xml . When configuring you'll see that it supports custom % display macros. These work the same way as % macros work in SuperDateTime. Basically you'll define a custom macro for a particular route you're receiving and then you can use it in SuperDateTimes player settings like any other macro. I have now set the path and it is working. Although if my path contains a lot of pictures, I get an error and no picture can be displayed. Is this because my NAS is not powerful enough to handle a lot of pictures at the same time? If I'm not wrong your NAS (QNAP TS-119?) should have a rather powerful CPU (Marvell 1.2GHz). But still the plugin will be pretty heavy running on SBS 7.5. I could imagine it to fail. Enable debugging for plugin.gallery and check the server.log file, or your device's CPU load (run top from a shell). I don't know how this CPU compares to my C3/1GHz. How long does it take to display one single image in the browser?
