[SlimDevices: Plugins] Album flow - picture cache SB Radio
Would it be possible to cache the cover pictures? Right now the usability with the SB Radio is too poor. Each time starting I get placeholders and I need to scroll forth and back until the cover pictures appear. If I scroll forward, the same happens. I have 800+ albums and the music files are FLAC encoded. I save the album pictures in the max. available size. The reason for it, is the usage of iPeng and its capability to show album art in large size. -- doubleugk Synology DS410j CPU 800 MHz Bus: 16...@ddr800 Mem: 128 MB 4 Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 SATA 3Gb/s 1TB FW DSM 2.3-1141 Plattform armv5tel-linux Perl 5.10.0 - armv5tel-linux-thread-multi MySQL 5.1.34 | SSODS 4.9.1 Squeezebox Server 7.5.1-r30836 | 2 SB Radio, FW 7.5.1-r9218 | SB Receiver FW 65 S/PDIF - Proceed CDP | SqueezePlay beta 7.5.1 | iPod touch with iPeng app v1.2.7 to control everything :-) doubleugk's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=36464 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=84116 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Apple's Airplay Streaming.
I think what people are implementing so far is a simpler non-encrypted version of AirPlay, where you just send a URL over to the player. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Album flow - picture cache SB Radio
They are cached in memory, Logitech had some ideas to implement persistent caching earlier but I suspect it hasn't got priority yet. The caching is currently handled in the standard SqueezeOS code, not in the applet. So the current solution probably works pretty good as long as you don't turn off the Radio completely every day. I currently don't have any plans to implement persistent cachning myself, but if someone wants it and is willing to create a patch, I'll consider including it. I'm not completely sure if persistent caching is a good idea since the flash memory have limited number of write cycles. It could possibly be a good idea to pre-fetch more images but I'm a bit worried about using too much CPU and memory if I do this in the background, currently I think it only fetch an image just before it's about to be shown the first time. It will probably work a bit better in 7.6 with the new improved artwork handling in SBS. -- erland Erland Isaksson ('My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info)) (Developer of 'many plugins/applets' (http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/User:Erland).
