I was able to test with WOL set to manual. Server goes to sleep as
expected and wakes with a press to its power icon. This is fine.

You can try to enable debug logging on "plugin.songinfo" and
"plugin.songlyrics" in SBS Settings/Advanced/Logging and see if the
server.log file contains some useful information after you have tried
it with debug logging enabled.

I'm guessing you get this with all tracks ?
And you have the problem also with tracks, artists, albums which have
names with only us ascii characters ?

The plug led stays blue, indicating that it is initializing.

Don't know where to go from here.

No - I'm sorry, SqueezePad is taking all my time now.
I'm happy to get contributions, which I'd integrate into the official

Cool - that it was so easy for you to change stuff.
Feel free to change the pictures for yourself.

I won't be able to use them in the official version though. My biggest
problem with DeviantArt is, that almost no user there publishes a
license under which the work can be used.
And having no license text for me is a no go to use it.

Its a test release which I have put back in my test repo. I am hopeful
that this works now (let me know if not), but I am testing some specific
changes for new platforms before I release it.

If it works then don't do anything. However I would remove my test

I wonder if it could be a caching issue, could you try to:
1. Shutdown SBS
2. Delete the "FileCache" directory which is a sub directory inside the
"Cache" directory
3. Startup SBS and try again.
4. If it doesn't work, look in the server.log again and see if it
differs.

Only delete the "FileCache" directory, not the complete "Cache"
directory. You will find the location of the "Cache" directory in SBS
Settings/Information.

I have been using iPeng on ipod touch for a while and more recently on

I am using the same version of ipeng software (v1.2.10) om each

I am using OS 3.1.3 on the touch and OS 4.2.1 on the iphone.

I was comparing the ipeng menu items and I noticed that the Digitally
Imported icon does appear on the touch but does not appear on the
iPhone.

** I have not yet allowed the iphone to fully sync with Squeeze Server,
not have I reloaded the cache. There is still some work to do with the

I have not looked at every post in the 200 odd pages, but I did do a
search on Digitally and Imported to no avail.

You may have a point there.

One thing I didn't mention is that I've also migrated squeeze server
from an old pc to a new one. So maybe the menu item was generated on
the ipod touch from the old SB server on the old pc.

That said, I don't specifically remember adding in the Digitally
Imported menu item / icon into the old SB server.

If that is the case, do you know how can I get the DI icon onto the new
SB system so that it may appear on the iPhone?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Plugin development for iPeng

2010-12-30 Thread azaz44

Hello pippin. More questions about iPeng:

Question 1:
---
I would love to group some items in the browse menus in my plugin. For
example there would be 20 items with a title "Piano Trio" and another
20 with a title "String Quartet", all in the same menu. I think
SqueezePlay doesn't support such thing. iPeng has a great UI to do this
already, and it actually uses it to display first title letter
sometimes. Not sure what it depends on. I get it in one particular
menu, but on one of my servers. On the other one I don't get it
somehow. Both are SBS 7.5.1. See Screenshot.

So, what I want is I want to control these things and put my strings
there.
Is it supported or any chance to have it?

Question 2:
---
I can use '\n' in menu item->{title}. Then iPeng will show two lines,
one black, one gray. This looks great and allows me to put more
information. But SqueezePlay will display two normal lines and it looks
shit.

Any way to have a separate title for iPeng, so I leave SqueezePlay with
one line and add extra support for iPeng?
(Or mayby it is better to go with menu style 'album'?).

I don't fully remember how this is being handled by MySB, but here's the

it's probably a change in menu structure and you might have to enable
it under "App Gallery" or you might already find it under "My Apps"
instead of "Radios"

The URL in your log works perfectly in my environment.

You can try accessing it with the demo API key using a web browser like
this:
http://api.lyricsfly.com/api/api.php?i=7ddda39d79667c12f-temporary.API.access&a=ABBA&t=Take
A Chance On Me

They generate a new demo API key every week so the above link might not
work tomorrow, the current key can be found here:
http://lyricsfly.com/api/
(Behind the "click to get key" link)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Plugin development for iPeng

2010-12-30 Thread azaz44

Hmm, I'm afraid I have more questions. All of them to make iPeng even
better :)

Question 5
--
Any way to get the functionality, which is marked at the screenshot, in
iPeng? This comes from "window -> help". I consider using it to display
information / help about the menu which is just displayed, but it
doesn't make sense if iPeng will not display it.

Question 6 / bug
-
I'm not sure if this was ever reported.

Sometimes, especially when using context menus, strange situation
happens. Typically when you enter context menu on some item, then close
it.

Then you click on another item, but iPeng makes action (ie. goes to
submenu) on the item which was previously selected (the one used to
open a context menu).

Additionally trying to show a context menu by holding a finger will do
this it on this wrong item, or (mostly) do nothing at all.

I have a feeling it is related to the context menus, but I'm not 100%
sure. It happens a lot in my plugin (extensively uses context menus),
but I also get this in standard "Music Folder" from time to time.

Just wondering if you know about the problem. If it's new, I can look
for ways to reproduce and fill some report..

Question 7
--
Ok, this one's really crazy. But who knows, maybe iPeng has something
:) Any possibility to display some entirely custom content, like a web
page, or at least at image, somehow from the menus?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Erland: Lyrics plugin

2010-12-30 Thread skycam

Ok,

Pinging api.lyricsfly.com from qnap is fine, but when trying the urls
that you gave me i get "Forbidden: You don't have permission to access
/api/api.php on this server."

So i tried editing the Plugging.pm file and put lyricsfly on the bottom
of the MyHandlers list and that helped.

Now i get lyrics in the ipeng App, altough i have to get gp to the
lyrics page where it says "searching for lyrics" and exit it again and
then when i go back after trying some times i get the lyrics. In the
Squeezebox server web page i get the lyrics right away.

here is logg for how it looks now.

Have you made sure the helper app spotifyd.exe is able to accept

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Erland's Custom Scan - multiple tag separat hardcoded?

2010-12-30 Thread pputzer

Hi,

I think I just stumbled over a small bug in Custom Scan. I use "/" to
separate multiple values in sort tags (ARTISTSORT, COMPOSERSORT etc.).
This works fine with the standard menus in Squeezeserver, but Custom
Scan seems not to honor the setting for the separator character.

I've got a track with the following tags

COMPOSER=Johann Sebastian Bach
COMPOSER=Lorenzo Ghielmi
COMPOSERSORT=Bach, Johann Sebastian/Ghielmi, Lorenzo

I would expect Lorenzo Ghielmi to appear at the letter G in a list of
composers. However, with a Custom Browse menu based on composers,
Ghielmi follows immediately after Bach, before Orazio Benevolo. I think
this is because Custom Scan only splits tag values at a fixed character.
The included help string for the "Single value tags" setting on the
"Module Settings Custom Tag" pane suggests it uses the character ";".

Is my reasoning correct? If yes, could you implement a fix for this?

Greetings,
Peter

Nothing obviously wrong here - but it does not show any navigation or
playback activity - have you tried to navigate or play anything? Could
you set the helper app log setting to Debug and try to capture more
debug?

There is no way to change the size, you could see whether it helps to
use the menuIcon tag, maybe it takes precedence and maybe it's shown
smaller(don't know right now).

It needs to load it from the server first and since iPeng is usually
loading some other images, too, after startup it can take a bit until
it's your icon's turn.
I have seen, too, that it sometimes doesn't show up but I have not
found out why that is, then.

I don't think it was reported but I know about it.
Actually I thought I had fixed it, but it was maybe only on iPad. It
has to do with the way the "hold" gesture is detected, iPeng is still
backward compatible with iOS 3 which doesn't have gesture recognizers
so I have to use my own mechanism which has some drawbacks :D

Will come in one of the next two releases. Next one is probably
playback only but the one after that will bring a lot of integration
stuff so this will be doable, then.

You can even now integrate content that will then open up in Safari by
adding "weblink => " tags to your menu and not defining any other
default actions (do or go).

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Plugin development for iPeng

2010-12-30 Thread azaz44

Most of these things don't have to be iPeng specific. I raise them with
the understanding, that any other controller can use them as well.
iPeng was the first, so it has some rights now to specify new
protocols.

Will do tomorrow.

This is just great to hear. I will test tomorrow.

Actually I cannot get two lines on SqueezePlay at the moment. It always
shows just \n in the middle of the string. I'm sure I got two lines in
SP one day, but it looked ugly - it was same font, same size, and two
lines of the same colour and style which barely fitted to the space
they had.

Will test menuIcon...

see here:
http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/SBS_SqueezePlay_interface
search for "window_fields".

However the page says it should be:

Code:

help = {
  text = "..."
  }

And this didn't work for me (but showed question mark). This worked:

Code:

help = 'text'

All under the 'window' entry.

Not sure how it's going to work, but weblink looks not bad. Will test
:)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Plugin development for iPeng

2010-12-30 Thread pippin

On the "help" thing:
What exactly is it you are trying to accomplish?
iPeng currently ignores help strings because originally they were
tailored for the controller and were just plain wrong in iPeng.
Not sure whether this is still true, after all the Touch has a touch
screen, too.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Erland's Custom Scan - multiple tag separat hardcoded?

2010-12-30 Thread erland

How does your Custom Scan (Mixed Tag/Custom Tag modules) configuration
look like ?
How does your Custom Browse menu configuration look like ?

I think this should work, I suspect there is something with your
configuration that causes the problem.

Theoretically, I think you should be able to only configure the "Mixed
Tag" module in Custom Scan and not configure them in the "Custom Tag"
module since the COMPOSER/COMPOSERSORT tags are already scanned by SBS
standard scanner.

How did you access it ?
I got forbidden when I tried to use wget, so they have probably some
protection which only makes it work with certain clients.

I'm guessing you are using SBS on the QNAP ?
I wonder if it behaves as a different client on the QNAP compared to a
normal Linux machine since it works on my Linux machine. You could try
to enable more debug logging related to HTTP in Squeezebox Server and
see if it shows anything more in the log.

Try to remove it completely from the "lyricsHandlers" list and see if
it makes it works better.

Sounds like a problem in iPeng, try if it works better if you remove
lyricsfly from the "lyricsHandlers" and if it doesn't work better post
in the iPeng thread to ask pippin to help you investigate the iPeng
side.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Napster working?

2010-12-30 Thread pippin

I just got an email from Napster with the comment that Napster is aware
of issues with their service with Squeezebox and Sonos devices and that
they are giving me a free month as an excuse.

And no, I did not contact them myself, looks like they are sending this
to all Squeezebox and Sonos users.

Understandable. I'll send a PM with a patch to enable retrieval from a
