Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Album Flow applet/screensaver for Radio/Touch/Controller
I've been looking at the album art applet for a while now as a way of getting a cover flow type interface onto music streamer. I've just spent 3 hours trying to get it to work, and in desperation thought that there might be a simple solution on this forum. I want to get the app running on SqueezePlay. From the screenshots it appears that this will work (http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Album_Flow_applet) I followed the instructions on the applet page here (http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Album_Flow_applet) but could not get the applet to show on the list. Next I tried a manual install of the applet by dropping it into the Plugins directory as mentioned on the wiki. Each time I check the list on the server and the applet does not appear. In addition I cannot seem to get Applet installation working from Squeezeplay 7.5 or 7.4. Does anyone have Album Flow working on Squeezeplay? I love the idea of this app and any/all help VERY much appreciated! Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Whitebear updated version
Hello, I am trying to use JRiver Media Center to control my Squeezebox Touch (I want to use the JRMC GUI to play music files on the Touch). I installed Whitebear, SqueezeCenter and JRMC on the same computer (running Windows 7). I started SBS, then Whitebear (which sees that SBS is running), and I configured JRMC with the "DLNA Controller" choice in the Media Network options, so that it can control other devices declared as "DLNA Renderers". Then I see 2 zones in JRMC under Playing Now : the first zone corresponding to my computer, and the second zone called "Squeezebox Touch (by Whitebear)". When I select this zone and start to play a file in JRMC, nothing happens on the Touch, and I see on JRMC that the first seconds of the track is being played, and then it starts again at the beginning of the track, and then stops again, and restarts, etc. I tried to de-activate the Windows firewall, but that did not make any change. I also noticed that if I had some track A in my Playing Now list on the Touch (from a previous listening session, for example), then when I play a track B in JRMC, the track A begins to play on the Touch (while JRMC tries to play track B, restarts after a couple of seconds, etc.). So it seems that when I play a file on JRMC, something happens on the Touch, but obviously not what I expected ! What can I do to investigate this problem? I saw that there are lots of log files that I can select in Whitebear, but I don't know what logs are concerned in my case (and I also don't know where to find them !). Or perhaps I must look at the logs on the SBS side ? Any help would be much appreciated... -- rotho rotho's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33493 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82399 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I thought about lirc or winlirc, because SqueezeIR already uses lirc-files. Lirc/WinLirc also supports a lot of emitters. This system should be left to the user. Assuming a working lirc/winlirc installation with fully functional emitter, there should be a tag for marking the pc-emitter (squeezeplay or sbs). Well, SqueezeIR can work on desktop squeezeplay which can run on the SBS machine so in theory the only extra thing required would be the ir emitter hardware (the easy bit) and a program that can take the IR commands in the SqueezeIR/Controller format and convert them to the ir emitter's format. Problem is though that each brand of emitter is probably going to expect the commands formatted differently so unless there is some ubiquitous ir emitter it would need recoding on a per-user basis. -- indifference_engine indifference_engine's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20698 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79524 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

So now you are touching the second benefit, the first being the ability to tie the functions of the player with the funtions of the AVR. The secondary benefit is to use a common UI to control all aspects of playing music (music selection, player control and sound reproduction). For that I feel the best solution is a combination of using an iOS device (iPod Touch, iPhone or iPad) and the iPeng application along with this plugin. With this solution you only see one interface (iPeng) and everything in the solution responds to the user from that single interface. You can get more info about iPeng from the Apple App Store or this url: http://penguinlovesmusic.de/ See how the plugin uses iPeng here: http://code.google.com/p/denonavpcontrol/wiki/HowToUse No remote solution can accomplish what this solution does. I am not aware of any equivelant solution from any vendor (ie SONOS) that is as complete. Note you might want to consider adding another player to your system that is hooked up to your AVR. The SB Receiver was the best choice if you were going to use an iOS device but they seem to be in limited supply. The SB Touch is probably the best device with todays availability although you may really never use the UI. We still like to use the Touch because with this solution you can glace at the Touch display to see song/status and don't have to pick up the iOS device and probably enter pw to get access to the screen etc. The SB Touch also has the highest bandwidth of the current SB Players for higher bitrate content you may aquire. -- Aesculus Chris Aesculus's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14876 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=60114 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I'd prefer the second option of a separate .xml-file. The reason is just the simplicity in configuring the whole show. But I'd suggest to implement somekind of general "use another file tag", making it possible to write big parts in different files, e.g.: -> SqueezeIR.xml: main data and config are in this more or less general file -> MenuA.xml: Includes all necessary information for the submenus working remote A. -> MenuB.xml: Includes all information for submenus working with remote B. -> Web.xml: purpose should be obvious. Another idea: Would it be very hard to include the box running squeezebox server as an IR-emitter (using lirc etc.)? This would make it possible to use not only the SBC as IR-transmitter, but also the SBS. This is just an idea for later versions of SqueezeIR. I think the stuff to be coded right now is work enough. -- chincheta0815 chincheta0815's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=42904 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79524 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
