Oh ok, so the playlist button is basically just a shortcut to the LMS

Ok so now onto something far more important:

Muso doesn't catalog all the track artists, it just catalogs the
ALBUMARTIST. I have quite a few albums that have more than 1 artist.
As a matter of fact, every single track may have a different artist as
in compilation albums (Best of the 80s etc). LMS, however, handles it
properly. I can even search for guest artists (Apocalyptica featuring
Sandra Nasic etc.). Just to give you an idea, LMS reports 1114 artists,
whereas muso reports 441 album artists. The main reason I bring this up
is because when I have muso export a website, it does not list all those
 missing artists.

I must stress that muso is not an LMS web skin, it wasn't my intention
that it mirrors the LMS database exactly, the design of the database and
the way it collates tracks into albums is specific to muso, and is not
intended to mirror the LMS database precisely - I simply offer an import
facility from LMS into that database. What I call an Album Artist is
also sometimes termed a Titled artist, and are those artists to which
the whole of an album can be attributed - the catalog only lists by this
titled artist, not guest artists. For example compilations appear under
Various Artists rather than repeating for every single contributing
artist.

I still do not want to listen to an entire album.
How can I listen to one track without this option?

I certainly understand and respect your design philosophy. It just
makes baby Jesus cry when I look at my collection and see 700 artists

This is especially true when I send a link to friends to my muso-created

artist X in your collection and it pisses me off because I do have
artist X but muso just didn't create and entry for it. :(

Hehe - I did list the full number of distinct artists on the left panel
but stripped it out to make better use of the space - I might put it
back in.

I suppose I could add the option to create catalog entries for even
supporting/contributing artists - then it's up to you if you want to
bloat the catalog! Leave it with me.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2012-11-08 Thread pippin

The option is no longer needed.
In the past, iPeng always played a full album if you tapped a track in
play mode (note: this only applies to play, not to adding tracks to
a playlist!), no matter hoe Squeezebox Server/Logitech Media Server was
set up.
The reason for this was that the expected behavior for most people
when you tap a track in an album is to play the whole album. That's what
all other software I know does, but the Squeezebox - in the past -
defaulted to playing only a single track.

Now this has been years ago. Since version 7.4 of the server (so
since 3 years or so), the default now is to play whole albums on the
Squeezebox, too, so iPeng now simply uses the behavior as configured in
the server and doesn't default to playing the whole album (by itself)
anymore, so the option to turn that behavior off was no longer needed.

If you want to play single tracks now, you have several options:
1. You ALWAYS only want to play single tracks? Change the default
behavior in your server settings (In the web interface:
Settings-Player-Play other tracks in album)
2. If you want to do this once: hold the track to bring up the context
menu and select play
3. If you want to add a single tracks to a playlist, use add to end or
add next mode (See Help-Quick Tutorials-Albums or playlists in
iPeng). Note that the Add modes usually don't add full albums, the
only exception being some online services where Logitech hard-coded the
behavior of the server to always add the full album, here iPeng has no
other option than to use the command the server provides.

I didn't updated correctly until now. You should retry to ... reboot the

If you updated correctly, you should see cover, artist name, and album

Thanks for the answer.

I have tried to browse to the track as you mentioned, it plays the song
fine, and I have looked in the log file and at least the spotify track
ID is the same as the one it stop in. So it seem to be the same file it
plays.

Relogin is something my plugin does to try to find a more stable server.
If the plugin experiences repeat problems streaming or browsing then it
will relogin to try to find a server which is more stable. Nothing to
worry about unless you see it all the time, in which case there is
likely to be a problem at the spotify end or with the internet
 connection.

Try the self test from the setting page. What you see here is just lack
of space in the connection from the helper app to the player - which
could be due to congestion on your local network. It means that the
helper app has audio data from spotify (which is good), but it can't
send it to the player. The self test should help as the first test does
not have a player attached and so will help identify if the problem is
in the connection to spotify or to the local player.

I can see that the number of writing errors increase much when I connect
more and more players. I have 4 in total.

The self test did run fine, but also have the writing issue to the
players.

I think I have to look closer to my network.

Thanks for the help.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] CustomBrowse itemformatdata question

2012-11-08 Thread TRSPR128

Could anyone please point me in the right direction? I am playing around
with my first custom browse menu, just taking baby steps displaying
albums in alphabetic order. Here's the code, stripped down from Erland's
built-in plugin:

?xml version=1.0 encoding=utf-8?
custombrowse
menu

menunameAlbums by title/menuname
menuorder17/menuorder
menu
idalbum/id
menunameSongs/menuname
itemtypealbum/itemtype
itemformatalbum/itemformat
menutypesql/menutype
menulinksalpha/menulinks

jivepattern^(.*)\s\((.*)\)$/jivepattern
menudata
select
albums.id,albums.title,substr(albums.titlesort,1,1) from
albums
order by albums.titlesort asc,albums.disc asc
/menudata
menu
idtrack/id
itemtypetrack/itemtype
itemformattitleformat/itemformat
itemformatdataTRACKNUM. TITLE (ARTIST -
DURATION)/itemformatdata
jivepattern^(.*)\s\((.*)\)$/jivepattern
playtypeall/playtype
menutypesql/menutype
menudata
select tracks.id,tracks.title from
tracks
where
tracks.audio=1 and
tracks.album={album}
order by
tracks.disc,tracks.tracknum,tracks.titlesort asc
/menudata
menu
idtrackdetails/id
menutypetrackdetails/menutype
menudatatrack|0/menudata
/menu
/menu
/menu
/menu
/custombrowse

Now my question: Why does this work:
itemformatdataTRACKNUM. TITLE (ARTIST, COMPOSER -
DURATION)/itemformatdata

but not this:
itemformatdataTRACKNUM. TITLE (ARTIST, PERFORMER -
DURATION)/itemformatdata

PERFORMER is a custom tag scanned into the database by CustomScan. What
gets displayed is PERFORMER as a string but not its value, e.g.:
1. Diamonds on My Windshield
Tom Waits, PERFORMER - 3:08

Am I missing something here? Thanks...
Thomas

I think I understood. repo.xml had version=1.3, zip file was named
qobuz_1.3, but install.xml contained version1.1/version
He was downloading the correct file, but thought he was still in 1.1
I moved everything to 1.4.
Could you switch back auto update to on, and tell me if you have one
update to 1.4, and no more after? Thx,

I will give a local emulator a go tomorrow, thanks for your time.

Just a short update. I tried the emulator, and that worked, so it was
possibly a networking issue, but it is not a bandwidth issue. Long story
short I abandoned Ubuntu for openSUSE, unfortunately openSUSE 12.2's
perl is too recent for LMS so I run LMS on Ubuntu 10.04 in VirtualBox
atm, which seems to work just fine. Not ideal, but a working solution.

I use something like unlockus to get other devices to connect to Uk.

Tunein seems a very strange beast. The free version on Android plays
BBC aac streams fine after a brief delay, however the paid-for Pro
version gets stuck on the playlist until I force the aac stream.
Bizarre very frustrating!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] A BBC enigma

2012-11-08 Thread bpa

For a few months earlier this year, for non UK users, the BBC had two
verssions of live AAC streams (a 48k and 52k) with different AAC
options. I think BBC now only has one AAC stream but I have seen Tunein
produce playlists which includes both. If that is still the case and
the first stream is now dead, the user will have to skip and/or press
play twice to get to the working stream. Not sure what Tunein will do
if it is made to think it is in the UK.
