Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: ShairTunes Plugin
Done a bit more digging and found 'this post' (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/21094114/how-do-i-detect-the-os-name-in-perl-to-a-particular-version) suggesting that archname is not the way to detect the running system as Config only contains the details from the system where Perl was built, not the one it's running on. In fact I've just noticed that typeing Perl -V at the command prompt on both my Pi1 and Pi2 not only give identical results, that it's armv7l, but also that it's an odroidu2 :confused: So, I've used the suggestion there and now my Utils.pm starts like this: Code: package Plugins::ShairTunes2::Utils; use strict; use warnings; use Config; use Digest::MD5 qw(md5 md5_hex); use POSIX qw(uname); my %dmapData = ( artist => '', title => '', album => '', ); my %dmaptypes= getDmapTypes(); my %dmaptypeToUnpack = ( '1' => 'c', '3' => 'n', '5' => 'N', '7' => 'Q', '9' => 'a*',# utf-8 encoded '10' => 'N', '11' => 'nn', '42' => 'a*',# this is a local invention - 9 is # getting handled as utf-8, but for # dpap.picturedata that would be # bad m'kay ); sub helperBinary { my ( $volume, $directory, $file ) = File::Spec->splitpath( __FILE__ ); my $shairtunes_helper; if ( $Config{'archname'} =~ /solaris/ ) { $shairtunes_helper = $directory . Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: ShairTunes Plugin
ok I dug around and found that Utils.pm seems responsible for determining the helper binary filename, based on the value of $Config{'archname'}, and I see that $Config{'archname'} is dumped to the debug output in sub initPlugin at line 89 of Plugin.pm, so I checked and my string is arm-linux-gnueabihf-thread-multi-64int. I then found a spare RPi V1 laying around (as you do) and booted it up, typed perl -v and got arm-linux-gnueabihf-thread-multi-64int. Hmm, so how do we distinguish between Pi1 and Pi2 in Perl? Anyway, for now I've modified my Utils.pm thus: Code: sub helperBinary { my ( $volume, $directory, $file ) = File::Spec->splitpath( __FILE__ ); my $shairtunes_helper; if ( $Config{'archname'} =~ /solaris/ ) { $shairtunes_helper = $directory . "helperBinaries/shairport_helper-i86pc-solaris"; } elsif ( $Config{'archname'} =~ /linux/ ) { if ( $Config{'archname'} =~ /arm/ ) { # arm-linux-gnueabihf-thread-multi-64int if ( $Config{'archname'} =~ /multi/ ) { $shairtunes_helper = $directory . "helperBinaries/shairport_helper-armv7l-linux"; } # arm-linux-gnueabihf-thread-multi-64int??? else { $shairtunes_helper = $directory . "helperBinaries/shairport_helper-armv6-linux"; } } # x86_64-linux-gnu-thread-multi elsif ( $Config{'archname'} =~ /x86_64/ ) { $shairtunes_helper = $directory . "helperBinaries/shairport_helper-x64-linux"; } else { $shairtunes_helper = $directory . "helperBinaries/shairport_helper-i386-linux"; } } elsif ( $Config{'archname'} =~ /darwin/ ) { $shairtunes_helper = $directory . "helperBinaries/shairport_helper-x64-osx"; } else { die( "No shairport_helper binary for your system available." ); } return $shairtunes_helper; } and copied my previously made /usr/local/bin/shairport_helper to /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/ShairTunes2/helperBinaries/shairport_helper-armv7l-linux And it works! So yeah, there's not a lot of point in me passing on my compiled helper binary unless someone can tell me how to distinguish between a Pi1 and a Pi2 as I suspect my helper won't run on a Pi1 (armv7 vs armv6). rickwookie's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6397 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100379 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

As a curiosity, why adding sample rate in the strms ? Normally, flac is self describing and you find it in the block header (that's what I'm doing on my client). I feel the mod should rather be making sure that soft squeeze correctly reads the header. They are variants in how the rate is coded In flac, but they are not difficult to handle and would give you the result without mods on the server side. Fair enough as I didn't look at the softsqueeze code in question. I should have asked for the patches first before commenting, my bad. However, experience has taught me that with server side changes you must make every effort to isolate changes to the player code. Other non softsqueeze software players are using the softsqueeze player type and this change may impact them, and it may not. But you should consider this when making server side changes. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Airplay on squeezebox (for Windows)
Hi Schmurtz I am trying to set up the plugin on my server, but I am having issues. I think the problem is that Shairport4w cannot receive the stream from my iPhone. Here is what works: * I am runnign Windows Server 2012R2. The Mobo has no audio, but I have installed the Virtual Cable. * Wave Input transmits the Virtual cable driver to LMS, so I can hear the sound on the server through the Squeezebox. * The Shairport4w speaker is visible to the phone and I can select. It. * The music on the phone will go quiet but Shairport4w does not receive the stream ever and does not launch the .bat files. * When I look at the airport menu on the phone again, I will see that the sound source has gone back to iPhone I have tried to get this to work with the SourceForge version of Shairport4w and it does work, apart from the fact it cannot launch the bat files. I.e. with the SourceForge version, the speakers are visible to the iPhone and can receive the stream. Then if I tune into wave:0 in LMS I hear the output of the SF Shairport4w. I have set up the same Firewall exception for your S4W executable (all inbound ports etc) and I fact I just used the firewall rule that was set up by the SF S4W and swapped the executable to which it pointed. But no luck. Airfoil speakers also work but have the same issue: no automatic launching of the bat files. :-( Would you have any other ideas? (Once this is running I would also like to run it as an automatic service without logging in, but that's for later). Thanks!
