OK this is really not going to answer your immediate problem but an alternative to taking your full music library out on the road could be Google Music. You get to upload the whole library for free and can access it from your phone. I actually used a chromecast audio in this way connected to my android phone as a hotshot. I used the chromecast audio as I wanted my phone volume/output to be free for calls and waze directions etc. Just a thought anyway. That's strange since control apps to not connect to players directly. They "see" the players that the server tells them about. Are you sure Squeeze Player is connected to the server? If you mean Orange Squeeze "sees" Squeeze Player before it's even connected, that's because the ability to start Squeeze Player was specifically added to Orange Squeeze. As I see it, you have two options: 1) Run a player app on your phone and send the audio through bluetooth. 2) Get a cheap android device and turn it into a dedicated squeezebox player for your car. Since you'll need internet connectivity for traffic alerts, unless your car has an internet connection, the second option probably wouldn't work. Could install, connect to Spotify and stream stuff on my LMS 7.7.2 but there where no sound coming out and I had that looping behaviour in progress bar. But in a fresh 7.9.0 it all works like charm! Given that the patch has been around for a year or so ... is it feasible to include it in a 1.3.1alpha4 (or whatever) so that it gets installed automatically? So, to put it simple. You want your car radio to control LMS. I did try this some time ago and it should work if I remember correctly. I use squeeze CTRL and squeezeplayer. Both are setup to connect to my server through the internet using my 'real' ip address. I could try this again next week, when I use my company car which has Bluetooth. Hi there, I've finally tried to implement LMS in my car. Apart from a technical issue related to the "automatic start-stop" function of my car, it works quite well. I do have some usability issues however and don't know if they need to be addressed on the player level or on the controller level. I use OrangeSqueeze as controller on my Android phone and either squeezelite running on the BananaPi which also runs the LMS, with a USB disk as music source, or Squeezeplayer on my phone, connected through bluetooth. Both alternatives have generally the same issues, being: - Unable to be controlled from the built-in controls of my car (mainly skip & pause are needed) - Not paused/muted for traffic warnings Other music apps I use on my phone work quite well in this regard, but of course they're not LMS, and even with a 64GB SD card in my phone, there's always music I miss from my ±3TB library at home. Ideally I think the bluetooth commands should be used by the controller (OrangeSqueeze) to send to the LMS, which in turn sends them to the player, as that's the logic of the whole LMS system when using an infrared remote control as well. It seems there's no Android controller apps under active development anymore. Does anybody know of another solution to my quandary? I'm not here to debate the merits of bluetooth streaming over the direct connection using the AUX IN; Let's just say that the added usability + safety of controlling everything over bluetooth to me is more important and perceptible in the noisy environment of a European middle class diesel car than any fidelity gains ...
