It does not tell me much, unfortunately. I've run a long lession on my
ATV4 last weekend w/o a problem. Any chance you have a non-Windows
platform to try? It would also help me knowing where the problem
happens. If you do, I'll build a special version with debugging symbol
so that you can run it under gdb

The volume popup shows because iPeng restores the volume your device had
set before you entered iPeng.
There are several ways in which iPeng modifies the volume while you are
in the App. One case, of course, is using the player, , in which case
the server controls the volume.
Another case is using the volume keys although this change is now only
minimal in most cases and only for edge cases.

It indeed looks like iPeng doesn’t restore the 100% volume level but
goes down to 99, in all other cases the volume should now be correct,
though.

I don't have a firewall on the LMS box.

Media Key integration enabled you to use the Prev/Next, Play/Pause, Stop
keys on your computer keyboard. If set to "Browser" the commands will
be sent to the player that is currently selected in the browser, so it
can be another player in your house assuming you have multiple players.
If set to "Local", then the commands will be sent to the local
squeezelite player regardless of what player is currently selected in
the browser. "Off" disables the media keys in case you have issues with
other software that are also trying to use the media keys and you don't
want SL-X to respond to them.

Glad you like Squeezelite-X. I bought my first Squeezebox Receiver in
2008. I, too, am sad that Logitech dropped the product line, but I am
very grateful that Logitech still keeps the servers going and that I can
still use my collection of Squeezebox receivers (I have about 5). I am
also very grateful for the work of those that keep Logitech Media Server
going and those that have developed plugins and software players. I
develop software as a hobby. I developed Squeezelite-X initially
because it is something I wanted for myself - a Windows app that
encapsulated the squeezelite player and provided a built-in browser
interface to LMS and that could sit in the tray. Developing it and
distributing it on the Windows Store has been a rewarding experiment and
experience in its own right. Squeezelite-X has surpassed 1000+
acquisitions on the Store, which is about 10 times more than I expected
and that is cool. I am thinking of at least adding a "Donate" button,
which would at least help pay for the development tools cost I incur,
but I just have not yet checked the Windows Store rules on that.
Otherwise, this project runs solely on encouragement, so thank you for
that.
