[SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 2.5.x - Spotify Connect for your Squeezebox

2018-10-13 Thread mherger

Here's a small update. Not really new features, but mostly reliability
improvements (hopefully :-)), and a lot of work in the background. In
particular in environments where local discovery does not work, the
daemon should now behave more reliably. I've seen situations where the
daemon would continue to work but no longer be seen by Spotify. This
situation should be handled better in this release. Please let me know
about your experience.

Enjoy the music!

Michael

[SlimDevices: Plugins] How to install latest BBC iPlayer - presumably v1.6.0

2018-10-13 Thread rbl

I have a new Windows 10 Pr installation, and just reinstalled the
iPlayer plugin via Settings->Plugin page, but it is saying it is version
v1.3.1alpha3. I have found a 1.6.0 but how do I install it? I want to
get it "right" first time as have had problems in the past. Is there a
link anywhere explaining it?

In WebUI Setting/Plugins at the bottom where it says "Additional
Repositories" - paste the following
HTTP://DOWNLOADS.SOURCEFORGE.NET/PROJECT/BPAPLUGINS/BETARELEASE-REPO.XML

After pasting click Apply and possible restart LMS.

Rather than be immediately activated (i.e. Appear in Active Plugins
list), it is likely that plugins will appear at top of Plugins tab
above "active Plugins" - check the boxes opposite BBCiPlayer V1.6 and
BBCiPlayerExtra 2.00, click Apply and then plugins should then be moved
into the Active plugin list.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Run Squeezelite hidden on Windows 10

2018-10-13 Thread th00ht

Thought of an edit but due to the many responses felt like a response is
better.

After many weeks of listening to music with this setup I realized that
there are some flaws in squeezelite. Compressed tracks, be it mp3 or
m4u, VBR or CBR tend to be truncated during playback. Switched back to
SqueezePlay and the tracks are played formidably complete.

Maybe I missed something (a proper codec?) but I cannot be bothered at
the moment experimenting

Try this one. The main changes I made are:
- replace long day with shortday under the icon for periods D3-D5
- replace hard coding of "Today" & "Tom'w" with shortday for periods
D1 & D2

It isn't going to be exactly what you had with the WU version as
weather.com 10day data starts with tomorrow.

Huh. I have used squeezelite on Windows 10 for quite some time without

Thanks for letting me know, bwaldron.
So this might indeed be a mere codec thing. Not sure how the programmers
in Redmond envisioned setting up a proper decoder for an mp3 stream. Is
this something you set at the squeezelite folder/ command line?

Sorry about that. So you can see the differences I tweaked the name.
Look for Phred-BMX2 in the beginning of the name when selecting it in
the custom clock app.

Or you can delete "- BMX2" from the name in the text file and it will
overwrite yours on your server.

Squeezelite and Squeezeplay both decode all formats into PCM which is
then sent to the appropriate API of the operating system. AFAIK they
both use the same MP3 decode library. IIRC Windows has a few Audio
subsystems - you are probably a default choice.

If you run squeezelite at a command prompt with the option "-d
decode-info" it will say which codec libraries have been installed and
are loaded ("mad" is the MP3 decoder)

I just deleted all other copies, downloaded what I submitted in post
#614 above, and imported it again. It worked.

So I'm not sure what the issue is on your system. It might be cached
somewhere in your LMS system or Touch. Try deleting it and making sure
it doesn't show up on the touch and then import it again.

On the Touch there's a menu item to clear custom clock images etc. Try
that?

Well, I figured it out. Apparently there is an idiot sitting at my
keyboard.

Thanks to PasTim I went looking through the settings on the Touch and
noticed that the screensaver for Custom Clock was still set to the
original template. Once I changed it to the new Phred-BMX2 template all
is well.

Sorry for dragging you around the block, BoomX2. And thanks very much to
PasTim.

Now to change the Radio settings to match the Touch and then I can go
take a very long walk.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 2.5.x - Spotify Connect for your Squeezebox

2018-10-13 Thread eater

Spotty playback on my SB3 keeps going silent for a few seconds, then
resuming for a few minutes, then another moment of silence. There's no
Rebuffering message or anything. Is there a good way to troubleshoot?

Playing Spotify on my laptop on the same network is flawless, and so is
playing MP3s over the SB3.

(This isn't a brand new problem with 2.5.0, just to be clear: it's been
going on for a while.)

Hmmm ... I just clicked on the 'donate' button on your SDT plugin and it
looks like it would go to Greg Brown and I'd like it to go to you. Any
way to make a small donation in appreciation of your help here and for
SDT?

I don't take donations. I happy to be part of the Squeezebox community
and feel rewarded when there is something I can help with.

You're either bound to the wrong ethernet card (if you have more than
one) or the players are separated from LMS by some sort of
bridge/router/firewall which prevents any detection to happen

Give a little more information about your setup: server hardware, OS,
CPU. Then check the server.log file for any hint (or better: upload to
