It is not enabled, but user_allow_other should not be needed, as fstab
runs as root and is therefore allowed to specify the allow_other option.

mount command using the allow_other option, but that shouldn't come into
play w/ fstab.

I do use the merged filesystem for a lot of other automation and having
MergerFS handle all free space allocation, etc... is definitely
desirable.

I run MIP w/ my main user/admin account, so no need for sudo there, but
that account has no problems reading and writing from and to the pool,
so I don't think it's a permissions issue (at least as far as I can
tell).

I'm confused - doesn't take much :-) ... You navigate into 'New Music'
(server provided categories?), select an album, its tracks are shown. if
you press the |> icon in the toolbar that has the album name (and track
count), you get a network error. If you select the *first* menu entry
from the *first* tracks "..." menu (which should be 'Play now'), it adds
all tracks? That's not right, and does not happen for me. If you select
'Play album starting at track' from the track's menu, then yes it will
add all tracks and start playing from that track.

When I click on the |> icon in the toolbar, Material sends the
following:

Code:

  id1
  methodslim.request
  params[…]
  0 b8:27:eb:99:a7:dd
  1 […]
  0 playlistcontrol
  1 cmd:load
  2 album_id:7625

When I select 'Play now' from the first track:

Code:

  id1
  methodslim.request
  params[…]
  0 b8:27:eb:99:a7:dd
  1 […]
  0 playlistcontrol
  1 cmd:load
  2 track_id:115390

I assume the setting you are referring to is the "Play Other Songs In
Album" setting from the LMS settings. Material does not use this.

Anyhow, I need the above examples from your system to try and understand
what's going on. When trying to get these from the network tab, ensure
nothing is playing (that way Material polls less frequently, so less
noise in the list of network messages).

Not aware of a direct way to do what you're asking. You could perhaps
create a script (shell using a daemon or something like that) that runs
on the tablet in question and checks to see if the kitchen player is
playing in LMS (a curl statement could pull that) and if so launch the
web skin once or as often as you like. A similar approach could work
with windows as well.

Good luck. Ynot

What I meant is if you can't get MergerFS to work, you can always just
mount the drives (eg. as /mnt/disk1, /mnt/disk2, ..., create
/mnt/storage, and ln -s /mnt/disk? into it). Not elegant, but workable

Check which user MIP runs as, and try accessing the file as that user.
e.g. as root, run: sudo -g mipuser -u mipuser /bin/cp
/storage/path/to/file.flac /tmp

Thanks. I like to know which service is providing the music. If you
use multiple apps it would be nice to know which one is the active one.

Android provides font sizing preferences under Settings/Display/Font
Size which resolves this in other controller apps like SqueezeCtl and
OrangeSqueeze. Why not Material?

Hi - as you note, I've had this issue pretty much since the beginning of
RP on Flac and never been able to solve it. I have LMS on a WHS-2011
server along with all my music and videos. It's always fully up to
date. It's always been pretty much unusable, I get the skipping thing
every few songs, it's such a shame as the Flac stream is noticeable
better than the the 320mb/s stream (I have a Chord Mojo dac on the
kitchen system and a Teddy Pardo dac on the main rig).

About a year ago I got so fed up with it that I bought a R-Pi3 and
installed LMS on it. It was a bit of a fiddle to point it towards all
my music on the server. I uninstalled LMS from the server. It was
definitely a bit better, but still did the skipping thing. Maybe it
skipped every 5 or songs rather than every 2 or 3. This would imply
that it's something odd about my network, but if that's the case it is
ONLY Radio Paridse on the LMS that has an issue, everything else, BBC
iPlayer etc works fine.

I guess I should have done some more exhausive testing, e.g. turn off
the server and anything else on the network and use the R-Pi server in
stand alone mode. But ... I just gave up, went back to LMS on the
server and stick to 320mb/s.

If I use the Radio Paradise webplayer on either a phone or PC plugged
straight into a dac it works perfectly. Doing that right now and it's
been going for approx 2 hours perfectly.

Just weird.
Hope this helps track it down. Michael I can't believe you do all this
hard stuff for moaning minnies like us!!

cheers
Phil

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP Headless w/ MergerFS (FUSE)

2019-01-26 Thread BreakTheStatic

Hey, thanks for the response! I do have the allow_other mont option
enabled, and have no other permissions issues with other software. Just
for reference, here is my fstab entry:

/mnt/data/* /storage fuse.mergerfs
defaults,allow_other,direct_io,use_ino,category.create=lfs,moveonenospc=true,minfreespace=20G,fsname=mergerfsPool
0 0

I also tried symlinking to the mergerfs pool but it still does not work;
is that what you were advising to do? It seems that as soon as MIP hits
the pool through the symlink it fails. I don't see any errors in either
the log.txt in MIP or the syslog either, so I'm not really sure how to
debug further.

I have a weblink in HA that goes to the LMS materrial skin. I also have
an ipad mounted to the wall. Is there a way to have google assistant
open the weblink if I ask it to play music in the kitchen or do I have
to run a script or automation? I only want it to happen on this ipad on
the wall.

This (material skin, which I didnt have had a look into so far at all)
is a step forward for my usage scenario I think - I will definitely
check it out, thank you!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: UPnPBridge = integrate UPnP/DLNA players with LMS (squeeze2upnp)

2019-01-26 Thread Toothless

Hi LMS wizards,

Having trouble lately wth the denon heos link H2. Whenever trying to
play a file (99% flac), I see it tries to play for about 4-5 seconds (no
sound) and it fails.
On server logs, I see for each file i'm trying to play the following:

[19-01-26 11:03:45.4662] Slim::Player::Song::open (409) Error: Couldn't
create command line for flc playback for [wimp://89059523.flac]

(this is for Tidal, but local files it would generate the same "coulnd't
create command line" error...)

Streaming via LMS used to work on this device. (I've some other players,
set up a test squizelite...i don't have any issue there.)
Could Denon have changed something on the player. Of course, the denon
app works flawlessly, however... I hate it :-)

Thanks for your thoughts!
