Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Squeezelite-X
Version 2.4.5 submitted to MS Store. Changes: - When picking a default player, the player list is sorted. - Maybe a solution for dolodobendan's problem with SLX browser failure to load the web page. - The experimental Material Skin filter will work with minified version of the Material Skin plugin, whereas before it would only work with non-minified version. The minified version is what you get when you use the official plugin installed via LMS settings. The un-minified version is what you get when you install manually from the GitHub source. dolodobendan wrote: > Yes. Call me lazy. > > > > Different paths I could understand. > > > > Wouldn't it be easier not to use different resource names instead? > Sounds like problems in the making. It is common to apply Minification to production JavaScript and CSS code. Minification removes unnecessary or redundant data without affecting how the resource is processed by the browser - e.g. code comments and formatting, removing unused code, using shorter variable and function names, and so on. The server has to send all this code in text form to the browser, so minification improves performance. On the other hand the resulting code after minification is not what you want to work with when you are reading/modifying the code. So I think the way Craig does it with Material Skin is perfectly correct. He runs his code through the minfy process and the result are the same files with .min included in the name. The Material Skin filter in SLX is just watching for when the browser requests specific .js and .css files. When it does, SLX just provides modified versions instead. So this is an easy fix in SLX to handle either naming convention, minified or not. Alright, I have an explanation for this. I am betting that you are using the MaterialSkin plugin, rather than manually copying the Material Skin files off of GitHub and manually copying them on the server. I do the latter because I am always getting the latest so I can test it. What I didn't realize until now is that the official plugin, installed through LMS, uses a compressed format, so the filter is not getting set because it was assuming uncompressed resources. So for 2.4.4, the filter only works if you have installed Material Skin manually. I have a fix, now that I know, so the filter will work in either case in next version. That's very interesting. I didn't know there were other tweaks you could make to firewalls in the manner suggested, granting temporary access after an initial request. Let us know how you get on. I'm none too clever at much of this stuff, so I may not try myself for a while. The 2nd article seems to suggest that without doing anything else one may be able to get better protection for unpredictable UPnP ports. The third proposes yet more software, that I guess one has to trust, to protect against abuse of these (and other) open ports (however temporarily). Stuff to ponder. Hi PasTim, Assuming that one's server is running LMS on a Linux-based server, and using netfilter/iptables for the firewall, then I found a couple of things that might be useful... By default Stateful Packet Inspection is not enabled; however it can be using conntrack, which enables netfilter connection tracking. Secondly, this article, specifically discussing UPnP SSDP, is more accessible with my limited understanding of netfilter: https://serverfault.com/questions/250797/stateful-matching-of-multicast-responses-in-iptables Thirdly, it is possible to track port scanning attempts using PSAD, and it can generate new firewall rules to block access from outside machines that might be attempting an intrusion, see: https://blog.rapid7.com/2017/06/24/how-to-install-and-use-psad-ids-on-ubuntu-linux/ In retrospect, my earlier request I made to Philippe was not reasonable, and I simply did not know enough to know it, so I apologize for that. It should show up in your LMS soon. -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
