Holy crap! It was not supposed to be in *that* file which is a common
repo for my stable plugins. That's why I was so confused, because I only
checked in the dedicated dev repo and there was no zip file in the
stable repo, so I missed this xml file.

Thanks for finding out, Michael!

I guess you are. Seriously, though, as this is a community supported
ecosystem and everyone that supports it is putting their own time into
it on a voluntary basis and for free, I think a better attitude would be
to help characterize and identify the problem so that it can be solved.

I didn't download it, LMS did. I clicked on "Enable" in "3rd party
plugins" and then "Apply".

I then replaced that bogus file with the one I manually downloaded (and
renamed) at https://sourceforge.net/projects/lms-reliable/files/dev/.

After that, I restarted the server and it's installed now. Is it
possible that the "native repo" has the wrong path? It's a fairly new
entry, maybe some copy and paste gone rogue?

I tried it again, this time replacing the downloaded file with the real

update. I'm pretty sure that's Pluzz again. Disabling plugin updater for

A poll associated with this post was created, to vote and see the

Question: Would you be willing and able to extract a cookie from your
browser?

- Sure! If you can tell me how to do it.
- Sure! I feel right at home in my browser's dev tools.
- No. I use Spotify Connect.
- No need for more options. I'm overwhelmed already.
- I eat cookies for breakfast. But what's a browser got to do with it?

Interesting question.
I would be quite happy to extract a cookie but I’m not sure about
Spotify as a long term service. Although they lead the way so far as
library size is concerned there seems to be very little interest (if
any) in upping their beyond the current 320 Kbps offering.
I’m not one that thinks my ears are capable of discerning 24/192 but I
can easily tell the difference between Spotify and say Qobuz 16/44.1
FLAC.
I currently subscribe to both Spotify and Qobuz. If one is going it’s
Spotify not Qobuz.
To me LMS and the ecosystem has always been a hifi product and not just
a multi room general sound system.

The "-l" option will list applicable devices but it may not be possible
to do so while run as a service. As I said pulseaudio is per user
unless you have set pulseaudio up explicitly to be system wide (which is
not advised).

Are confusing sharing devices with combining audio from various sources
on same device ?
ALSA will share device but not combine audio from different
sources/processes.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] squeezelite not working on RPI4 if started as service

2020-08-12 Thread bjmed

Thanks!

I am real impressed by the instant and fantastic support you have
provided.
Things are now working properly.

Things I had to do:
* Swap debian package from squeezelite-pa to squeezelite
* Manually set the output device to sysdefault:CARD=Headphones

At the moment I use the -a 80:::0 setting. Not sure if that is the best
but with limited testing
it sounds like my previous 80:4.

When I have set this up on previous RPI (and with older versions of
everything) I only needed to install the package.

I previously used the squeezelite-pa to allow for co-existance with
other sources.
Perhaps it is possible to make specify the correct output device when
using the squeezelite-pa version.

/Björn

For Genre based “radio” search for “Random Seeds” on I think General

There are problems with years as well. As there is no accepted standard
naming / tagging convention there will be scenarios that a text only
based lookup will never be able to handle. My &/and issue was a rare
case that you could successfully program for but multiple eponymous
album names is I think impossible. Even Michael’s Peter Gabriel
workaround probably doesn’t meet with the approval of UK fans where the
4 eponymous PG albums are generally referred to as Car, Scratch, Melt
and Security,

I have same issue. I have tried to install on 3 different servers. One
7.9.1 (vortexbox, Linux), one 7.9.2 (vortexbox, Linux), and one 7.9.3
(PiCorePlayer). Same outcome, allows me to select then asks to restart
to install. Then comes back after restart with a message to install
Pluzz (which I had never ticked to install). Restarting removes message,
but neither reliable nor Pluzz is installed.

It's available on the dev repository:

So I just updated LMS to 8.0.0 - 1597033155. But my MC is still version
3.0. How do I upgrade the plug in to 3.2?

For me it does actually work, current with LMS 8.0.0 - 1597033155 and
Mixcloud dev version 0.3.2.

It's difficult to find out why it works for some, but not for others.
Might be that dlmixcloud.com has implemented some Recaptcha tests that
block automated retrieval?

There are others ways to do it, such as using a local binary op
youtube-dl for retrieving the url, but that would be a massive rewrite
of the plugin. Not something I want to do now. However, if others are
willing to participate, it could be done. It's just not a job that I
could do all by myself.

Fair enough it just seemed odd. I am messing around with "Mix Style" and
Mix Variety" settings to see what effect they have and this was "Mix
Variety" of 0.

Sorry for not replying to your other posts, I was busy - still am. But
for this playlist, this is because they are different artists. To cater
for (e.g.) "Greatest Hits" both artist name and album name have to be
the same. Not using album artist, because having multiple tracks from
"Various artists" albums is fine by me. Actually thinking about that
now, I'm pretty sure I can get the string for "Various Artists" from LMS
- so could use that. Still, if artist is different it is still a

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Artist or genre based radio?

2020-08-12 Thread Christian Schoepplein

Hi,

would it be possible to develope a artist or genre based radio for the
currently played track e.g. with LastMix and /or the DSTM plugin?

I know that there is such a feature for Spotty, but its based only on
the mixes Spotify is creating.

It would be cool to have a more generic aproach that is also available
for Qobuz or tidal and where the mixes are created by LastMix.

Can this be build with LastMix and / or DSTM? If yes, I'd take a look
and try to improve my little Perl knowletge to implement such a
feature..., or is this feature already available and I have not
understood how to activate or use it?

Cheers,

  Schoepp

OK there was a trailing comma. Removed that and now I see this which

Well you can see why a track is excluded because of genre, if is not

I've updated Plugin.pm to output the LMS genre IDs from configured and
Christmas genres when LMS is started. This will allow you to see the set
of genre IDs - as all future debug refers to the IDs, not the textual
name. If genre filtering is in place, the plugin will also log the
candidate track's genres to the log. If the one or more of the seed
tracks are in one of these groups, I create a set of genres from the
seed track genre groups. If a track matches one of thee genres you
should see "matched on configured genre".

I came here since my Soundcloud had 'stopped working', via the iPeng app
and also Material skin. It does indeed work perfectly with the default

No genre filtering (if enabled) happens in the LMS plugin. The plugin
asks MIP for a mix of 50 tracks based upon (up to) 5 seed tracks. This
plugin then iterates that list to filter out tracks by genre, duration,
etc.

The logging should help you know why a track was filtered. The plugin
should use all genres of a track - I'm guessing "Live" is not the only
genre of the track?

It's bit of hit and miss.. sometimes it does work, sometimes it doesn't.
(I mean your .exe helper app on Windows) Last time it took me 3-4
attempts , previously it went all good straight away. I did think for a
while its down to Spotify app "timing".. Maybe it uses some of required
files and "lock" them temporarily. I couldn't replicate any persistent
behavior though so its probably smth else.

Hope WebAPI workourand would also work on devices without browser or app

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Music & Artist Information plugin

2020-08-12 Thread Michael Herger

I was thinking of albums with the same name and artist like the first
few Peter Gabriel albums.

I admittedly have added an exception in code for PG... I called the
albums "Peter Gabriel [1]" and do not remove the brackets in this case.
Maybe I need to think of a more generic way to handle this.

No, this has always been the case for Mixcloud. The plugin uses the
website dlmixcloud.com to get the actual URL of the track.

Good that it is working but by "stream details" I meant the exact
program - some of these problems can be program /episode specific.
BBC also offer multiple DASH rates so it is possible 320kbs wasn't
available at original time of test. LMS Caching could make this persist

Could anything else be using the same audio device ? (e.g. desktop
audio)
Enable logging for squeezelite (may have to redirect message into a file

message ?

Just to clarify point in post #1 about "-pa" and pulsemixer. Normally,
pulseaudio is setup for sharing audio amongst processes under the same
parent process (i.e. per user basis) or share audio over network
connections and not systemwide. Service will run under a different
parent than desktop or login - was pulse audio setup system wide ?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] squeezelite not working on RPI4 if started as service

2020-08-12 Thread Man in a van

Hi Bjorn

I installed Raspberry PI OS Desktop (32bit) on a rpi4 b (4GB) using the
RPI Imager tool

https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/raspberry-pi-imager-imaging-utility/

Updated the OS, plugged a lead into the headphone jack, and selected
Analog as output

Used Chromium to check that it worked, went to the fip radio main page
and got no music, rebooted and tried again, it worked with volume set at
100%, I used Alsamixer to set the volume at 0db.

Installed Squeezelite from the Apt repository
>
> Menu > Preferences > Add / Remove Software > Squeezelite in the search
> box, selected Alsa version

Checked that it worked from my LMS install, went to Settings > Player >
Audio > set output volume to 100%. No sound.

On the pi I opened a terminal

Code:

aplay -L

and choose

> sysdefault:CARD=Headphones

which I added to

Code:

sudo nano /etc/default/squeezelite

31256

"-C 5" stops Squeezelite hogging the output if not selected as a player

Rebooted and tested it played OK

I enabled SSH and VNC server and followed the insructions here to
install Open CPN

http://https://opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=opencpn:opencpn_user_manual:getting_started:opencpn_installation:raspberrypi_rpi2

I got this

Code:

pi@raspberrypi:~ $ sudo apt-get install opencpn
  Reading package lists... Done
  Building dependency tree
  Reading state information... Done
Package opencpn is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Package 'opencpn' has no installation candidate

So I left it there, as I have no boat, not even a rubber duck :)

Good luck

ronnie

As stated, I do not want Pop tracks when listening to Rock. Hence I want
to restrict the group of genres. If you do no want this, disable the
restriction. I dont want a checklist, as I dont want to reconfigure each
time I create a mix. To me, the beauty of DSTM is that after I have
selected a mixer, it just kicks in when required - no further
tinkering.

p.s. Did you try the Musly mixer? Just interested to see what you
thought. Its not as developed as this, as I didn't think the mixes were
as good.

I've changed this non-genre group into a 'soft filter'. The tracks are

I'd like to chime in here with an observation regarding this filtering.
To me what makes MusicIP so much better than just about any other way of
auto-generating mixes is what you seem to want to circumvent: the genre
independence. Fingerprinting and mixing is based on acoustical
characteristics of a song, not on its genre. To me this makes perfect
sense: a singer with an acoustical guitar is a singer with an acoustical
guitar regardless of whether he's a folk singer, a metal singer doing an
unplugged session, ... If it sounds similar (and you can tweak the
desired degree of similarity) it belongs together, otherwise you could
just use the default random mix plugin and do the genre filtering there
as randomly selected songs restricted to e.g. "Power Metal" will usually
give a balanced mix.
If you really don't want certain genres to be returned, why not just
implement a checklist with the genres, check any you don't want, thus
limiting what gets returned. No need for convoluted logic constructions
;)

As stated, if this were the case then you could go from an ungrouped
genre into a group genre - then the next time seeds are chosen you could
have a track in the grouped genres, so now you are fixed into that
group. This, to me, makes no sense.
