If you have setup scheduled backups the primary use case of a manual backup would be to do one just before a reinstall if you want to be sure to not loose data since last scheduled backup. Also please note that there are no automatic deletion of old backup files, so you may want to delete older backups to avoid that they eventually take up a lot of disc space. That message triggers SLX to query for the now playing info and update the hint. LMS does not always send that message if it thinks the track is not new. Not sure precisely what is causing this, but I remember thinking, I hope LMS reliably sends this message. Either that or I have some other bug in my code. A more reliable approach might be to Query the server for NowPlaying when the trayicon needs to show a hint, but Windows does not send my application a message when this happens, so I can't. I'll try and see if I can reproduce it. Thanks for letting me know. The SB3 can only play 48/24 so the stream would by transcoded to that format by the server. To play in sync, the stream on both devices needs to be the same. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] How to make a fresh start with Trackstat?
Roland0 and Erland, Many thanks to you both for your helpful replies. Although I may later find out that my current optimism isn't warranted, I seem to have achieved what I wanted, which was a "fresh start." I believe that things were just as you, Erland, suggested. After I did both a "Delete unused statistics" and "Remove all data" one right after the other, I then immediately did a manual backup, and the backup file was just an "empty" .xml file ready to receive data. Then I immediately did a "clear library and rescan everything" as a test. I followed this by doing another manual backup, and the .xml file was full of data rather than the empty shell the previous backup produced. I believe this was a demonstration of what you predicted in that what I'd done was to "get rid of the data related to files that no longer exist, but the old data will still be there for files that exist." In any event, I've begun happily listening to music and making my ratings anew. A quick creation and test of an SQL Playlist showed that I can (for example) play a random set of tunes I have rated 5* since my fresh start. I was content to start from scratch again, and it looks like that's what I've accomplished. Salvaging the old data would have been good (and the ratings in the small number of files that didn't get moved during my restructuring HAVE been preserved), but I'm OK with the way things are. I've done both scheduled backups and a manual backup, and they seemed to go ok. The relationship between the two still seems a little confusing to me, but I intend to continue with scheduled backups so if I ever have to "restore" from file" I can just point to the most recent scheduled backup file as the one from which the restoring will be done. Thanks again to you both. Doing the ratings again means I'm listening to more music lately...that's the whole point, isn't it? :) Steve radish112's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11591 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113844 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

In theory it might be enough to delete persist.db but Im not sure all LMS and plugin tables are recreated properly if only persist.db is deleted so Id suggest deleting all db files. You can try only deleting persist.db but be prepared to potentially get strange issues. The issue you are seeing is because standard LMS tables also contain the data so TrackStat will recreate its data based on standard LMS tables on next startup or rescan. I have to admit that the clear functions in TrackStat should really clear LMS data also but unfortunately I didnt think about that when implementing these functions. If you perform a full rescan in LMS after clearing the data with TrackStat I think you should get rid of the data related to files that no longer exist, but the old data will still be there for files that exist. This is probably me remembering wrongly, but I thought the BBC Sounds App provided best quality streams (320kbps?). I'm using the plug-in on LMS feeding a RPi 3B (running Picoreplayer) into a Caiman SEG via Optical and the Radio 2 live stream shows at 96kbps on my Squeezer App. Is there a setting I've not got right, or am I just deluded about BBC Sounds stream quality? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Help with Spotify/Spotty on LMS 7.8.0
Thanks Michael I feared as much. What's the minimum version of LMS I'd need to upgrade to? (though your first sentence suggests that's not going to work either) I believe Spotty should work even with 7.7. But TBH I wouldn't know of anyone using it with anything older than 7.9. The problem with Vortexbox though is different: it's glibc is older than what the spotty helper expects. Sure, it could probably be compiled against your version. But then you'd hit the next road-block: https support. You'd have to update SSL libraries. Unless you're looking for the challenge I'd stop here and re-consider alternatives. -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Help with Spotify/Spotty on LMS 7.8.0
I run a VortexBox which says it doesn't have any upgrade available yet my LMS is still on 7.8: Logitech Media Server Version: 7.8.0 - 1392818344 @ Sat Mar 15 00:32:46 EDT 2014 I've just got Spotify Premium Family - could anyone help me get set up with playing through LMS? I looked into it a year ago and understand that Spotty is the way to go now rather than the official Spotify plugin from Logitech - is that still accurate? Or will Spotty only run now on LMS 8+ ? I've looked at the plugins available and Spotty wasn't listed there anywhere, only 3 helper plugins for Spotty were listed, I turned those on and rebooted and now even those don't show up. Any guidance greatly appreciated. muso developer 3 x SB3, 3 x SBBoom, 1 x SBTouch, Liv Juke VortexBox LMS Marantz, Denyo, & Bantam amps, Harbeth, Mordaunt Short & Monitor Audio speakers Heed Canamp + Beyerdynamic headphones jezbo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9888 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113860 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Hi, it is possible that SLX could send WOL to the server when it is not available? When I start SLX it sends the packet and wakes the server - perfect! But if the server shut down (by plugin Server Power Control) after a while because not playing any music SLX looses the connection to the server which is okay. But there is no chance to wake up the server again except I close SLX and start it again - then it sends WOL to the server as always at programm start. It would be perfect if SLX could send WOL to the server automatically but any other manual way would also be an improvemt in my opinion. What do you think about it?
