Your system is too old. You'd need SSL support.

I'm mildly surprised that somebody would still use a 1st gen. ReadyNAS!
It was slow to run LMS back in the days. We added custom tweaks for it
in the code to make it bearable! Do yourself a favor and get a Raspberry
Pi to run LMS on instead. LMS' snappiness will blow you away :-).

Unfortunately it might not solve the problem. I played more tracks today
and even when duration is known playback might still stop because
duration is reported incorrectly (not blaming your plugin, probably
something with the BBC site) and tracks happen to be shorter than
expected so the bridge is still taken by surprise... I don't have a good
solution but I'm tempted to try again to not use that duration-base
system that I've always disliked. Maybe Deezer have corrected their
problem. I'll do that and see feedback.

I have uploaded what I hope will be the final updates for v3.0. The
changes from the previous version are minor:

1. Incorporate updates to the copyright info and change log

2. Remove the enforcement of a minimum 1 sec delay before power on
unless the power on sequence is triggered by a command other than an
explicit "power on" client command such as "play" or "next song", in
which case a minimum 3-sec delay will be enforced in order to minimize
callback conflicts.

3. Change the minimum delay before quick select from 1 sec to 2 secs in
order to add a margin of safety to Denon's recommendation of waiting at
least 1 sec after power on before the next command.

Still looking for feedback from beta testers, especially those with
Marantz or recent (newer than 2010) Denon AVR models.

Cheers!

I just updated LMS on my Ubuntu NUC to 8.2 and also added your plugin.
The UI feels much snappier, especially in iPeng with loading thumbnails
for cover art in the New Music view. Nice work !

A new and changed rescan of a DB with 70K tracks took 42 seconds. The
system has an SSD but the music files are on an 8TB HDD.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] 'MediaServer' *certified* Alexa skill for LMS

2021-03-03 Thread philchillbill

@staresy noticed a while ago that FollowMe/Transfer didn't work properly
on Windows 10 and I noticed myself that it needed a tweak for pCP or it
failed totally. Apparently, the method of saving a temporary playlist to
the filesystem and resuming it is not foolproof on every OS. Looking in
the source of Material, I noticed @cpd73 took a different (clever!)
approach for his TransferQueue function - namely briefly sync the
source/target players and then unsync them and kill off the source.

I've now implemented this for MediaServer and it seems to work much more
fluidly, while also not leaving temporary files in the playlists folder.
Another advantage is that if the target player was in a sync group, the
playlist is now transferred to all of the players in that group, which
was not the case before.

I'm afraid not. To change the ids you have to change data in the
database, not in the prefs. If you are not familiar with SQL that might
take a bit of learning to do. I shut LMS down and use an SQLite tool to
change the values in table multilibrary_libraries, but there are several

Still the same. I noticed that
C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\Cache\InstalledPlugins\Plugins\LMSdbopt/install.xml
contains 0.0.1

Could that be the problem? Could the cache at your end contain the wrong
version?

Ok I tested 2 apps:

1. Very old (sadly obsolete) Squeeze Commander : "Add Track
to Playlist" works fine . There is also no confirmation that song been
added.

2. Orange Squeeze (not sure if its old version, found it on other phone)
: "Add Track to Playlist" works fine . There is also no confirmation
that song been added and weirdly play queue jumps to different place
after adding (perhaps to top)

btw On both apps there is no folder structure of Spotify playlists when
using "Add Track to Playlist" (same as on web interfaces)

ps there is also another possibly confusing aspect:

"Add Track to Playlist" seems to relate to playlists on Spotify but in
Material skin there is also
"Add to Playlist" which adds to LMS playlists: Even when you select
Spotify: Playlist 1 playlists you will end up with 2 playlists named
exactly same but one will be local (with 1 added file) and one Spotify
(with all others)
And there is also:
"Add to..." (thats additional plugin related so no everyone will get
that) which also links to LMS Playlists and behaves same as "Add to
Playlist"

On a bright side "Add Track to Playlist" is only present with Spotify
tracks.. (not local library) so perhaps it could be renamed to "Add
Track to Spotify Playlist" ?? Unless this is just how it comes from
API..

On Jivelite (Touch) "Add Track to Playlist" doesn't work. All you get
its spinning circle.

In terms on app. I only really use Material APK which behaves same as

Verifying that caching artworkdb works is fairly simple:
- LMS process size grows larger the more covers have been displayed
- my artworkdb is on a HDD, so I can literally hear that it's accessed
the first time a specific cover is displayed, and not on subsequent
renderings

Pretty confident that'll overwhelmingly be the new indices.
However, this may actually be a scenario where multi-threading could be
used, so mamema could check if more than one core is utilized the next
time a trackstat refresh runs.

I've also released a new version which adds a dropExtraTrackStatIndices
API command, which could be helpful if anyone really wants to perform a
detailed analysis.

Hi Philippe,

I sense your exasperation. Trust me, mine is near breaking point!

I have read and copied your posts to use as an aide memoire. I have
followed those instructions.

I have set the bridge up, according to your instructions. In it's basic
form, it works on my WiFi system and plays to my HiFi via the Cambridge
Audio CXNv2. It also plays to my Roberts Radios (internet radios) and
wireless speakers.

However, if I use the Apply button for the settings, it plays to none of
my equipment. In saying that, the system actively tries to play and it
goes into Pause. But something makes the setup unstable and it comes
back each time to when I press the

Apply button, be it on the settings or on the LMS Control Panel. I have
tried the Apply button, prior to playing music and against your advice,
whilst it was playing. I get the same result, either silence or
stuttering sound for a few seconds and then

Pause and no sound.

I will continue to use the system without using the Apply button. At
least then I get music, in flac mode, with artwork, that plays track on
track with minimal silence between each track.

I thank you for your patience, but the system I have just will not
operate other than in it's basic form, without flow or crossfade etc. I
don't know why. I have tried over and over again.

Well, yes. I get your sarcasm*, but the point was that 3>2, which can't
be "quicker" or "more convenient" — just that, and nothing more than
that.

* that isn't sarcasm. I realise 1 extra click is essentially trivial,
but it's mildly irksome at times when you need to repeatedly access the
Server settings for some reason or other.

Indeed, and I owe you an apology — I obviously didn't read/interpret
what you originally wrote and have only just noticed that the Server and
Player Settings entries are on the dialog menu of the Interface page.

Again, thanks for all the work you've done on Material Skin. It's a
great achievement.

I have, on very rare occasions (I think only when completely resetting
LMS), seen the id numbers increase, and rather than rescanning I have
changed the ids back to where they were (1 and 2 on my system).

Many thanks for the explanation.
As this is live radio with each programme as a track, when the stream is
started on the first track, its would be very tricky to set the duration
before the track started, as it is starting at the current live point,
so it does that once the stream is up and going and it has all the
information about what point it is in the current live programme.
However, it's much easier for the subsequent follow on tracks. Which I
think is what you need :) . I'll make that change and sent out a
release.

I wasn't aware of that until I read your post. Cool feature!

I think the answer may be "No". I see the following entry in the
changelog
(https://ralph_irving.gitlab.io/lms-community-firmware/changelog.html)

Unless @ralphy has plans to reactivate that feature, I think that you
are out of luck with this approach.

I have no experience of using Tidal. But there may be other sufficiently
attractive possibilities. A lot of users seem to install LMS on a cheap,
small, single board computer, for example a Raspberry Pi Zero. That
might be the way to go.

You will have to go back to the official firmware.
One of the changes in the community version is the removal of "TinySC" -
the built in server that you were using.

>From the changelog
Version 8.0.1 r16817
Removed Features:
Touch TinySC (SqueezeCenter) server and applet.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Community Firmware for Squeezebox Radio/Touch/Controller and LMS 8

2021-03-03 Thread Thomas_S

I updated my SB Touch yesterday to firmware 8.
But I have the following problem:

I use the Touch without any other computer or NAS.
The Touch ist only connected to an usb memory stick (256gb), where all
my music is saved.
Under Firmware 7.8 (and all before) I was able to start the lms with the
usb. This worked very well.

The reason that i wanted to update to firmware 8 is that I also use
tidal. It is not longer possible to use the tidal app with the local
lms. Since some weeks I had to change to mysqueezebox.com to use tidal.

Bevor that I was able to change between my own music and streaming tidal
without no problem with the local lms. The change to mysqueezebox.com
for tidal and back to the local lms for my own music is not
comfortable.

Under firmware 8 I found no possibility to start lms local on my touch
under the usb-section. I saw only the possibility to use the lms on my
computer.

But this is no option for me. I need the local lms to heare music
without running my computer or any other separatly gear.

Can anybody help me? Thanks (and please excuse my inexperianced
english).

2021-03-03 Thread Michael Herger

My, i admit rather short test reveals, that the trackscan scan task went

I guess that should read "trackstat"?

don't from 3 hours to 4 min on LMS restart and from 3 hours to 15 min on
forced rescan. Even though modifying the SELECT statement to prevent
musicbrainz_id duplicates will bring the scanning down to 4 secs each,
so..

Well, that's a good result :-). Would be interesting to know which tweak
makes the difference, or whether it's really the combination of them all.

Another improvement is in the webinterface everywhere where cover images
needs to be displayed it "seems" faster.

Ok, I'll see what I can learn from that plugin. Thanks for the data point!
