*LMS 8.1 - Favourites* - Radiotime.com favourite missing: Favorites are local to the installation. I don't know its exact name, but there are > some > which basically have all your tracks in them. Check the iTunes plugin > settings: > you can exclude certain playlists from the import. So I've had a closer look at this tonight. When you look in iTunes, it has various Default menus/playlists that generate playlists for LMS when scanned (many of these have hundreds and thousands of songs, do importing is unecessary): - Recently Added - Artists - Albums - Songs - Genres - Music Videos - Downloaded - Smart Playlists - Purchased - Audiobooks - Internet Songs Also, I have many of my own music and artist playlists nested within folders (such as 'All Music by Year' and many variations). Each of the main folders their nested within also generates its own LMS playlist containing every track present in the various playlists the folder contains - again not needed in the LMS playlist scans. I've expanded my list of 'Ignored Playlists' to a total of 84. Interestingly, the iTunes import process seems to scan in all of them, showing a total of 672 during and after scanning, but it must remove the 'Ignored' list either during or following the iTunes playlist stage of the scan, as LMS lists around 580 post-scan, and I've confirmed it's ignoring the correct ones now. I think this, combined with turning off the Build full text search plugin has now drastically improved my 'new and changed' rescan running times: *LMS 7.9 (on Synology DS218+ Package Centre) 'New and changed' rescan* - down to 8:41: 34810 *LMS 8.1 (on Synology DS218+ Docker Container) 'New and changed' rescan* - down to just 8:21: 34811 Here's how fast I've now got the 'Clear and rescan everything' scans with more ignored playlists and Build full text search disabled (currently carrying out the clear and rescan in 7.9)... *LMS 8.1 (on Synology DS218+ Docker Container) 'New and changed' rescan* - now taking a modest 32:50: 34812 Very pleased with getting the scan times for such a massive library and high number of playlists, but it doesn't answer the question of what effect this has had on carrying out the same scan with Build full text search list turned on. I'll will re-enable this plugin in both instances over the next couple of days to see if ignoring several thousands of tracks worth of iTunes playlists has sped these rescans up at all and report back. Cheers Andy +---+ |Filename: 2021-05-26 LMS 8.1 Clear and rescan without text index and extra Ignored Playlists.JPG| |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=34812| +---+ My setup: - LMS 7.9.1-168 running on Synology D218+ connected to Wi-Fi router via LAN cable - 1 x Squeezebox Touch, 2 x Squeezebox Radios, 1 x Squeezebox Receiver, plus Squeeze Player and Squeeze Ctrl Android apps on Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e and Samsung Galaxy A40 - all connecting over Wi-Fi - LMS library either ALAC Apple Lossless (scanned in on iTunes) or ACC/M4A 256kbps downloads from iTunes AndyTwizzle's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=53445 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111876 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Recent mention of Squeezer on this forum got me back into the habit of downloading music to my phone from LMS. It's very handy and is the only reason I've got a second LMS app on the phone. Material would be more useful than the others in that it's the only one I've seen that displays the music service icon on the front of the album art... so it's easy to see what's available for me to grab from my server, and what isn't. fwiw the download implementation in some of these apps seems very basic (speaking as a non-coder). No progress indicator, no zipping albums, etc. Doesn't seem to be any error handling that's shown to the user, either (e.g., when I click Download on something in my library from Spotify, nothing happens). Not even the option to save to the SD card (that'd be handy). Not bothered about the files landing in subfolders or not, as any decent Android music player can analyze the tags and sort things out perfectly well. Not sure I've posted on this thread before so let me just say thanks a lot for Material Skin! mafyou's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=64107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109624 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

First off, thanks for you quick responses, I do appreciate this. If I try to not import the database, the headless MIP on the Raspberry Pi 3 crashes (probably runs out of memory) before even analyzing one track. E.g. of the 100 test files I copied over, it recognizes 5 files and then gives me the "validating, 95 remaining..." message--but this counter never decreases. kinoimkeller's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=24972 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106958 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Yes, I do have several playlists that have hundreds of tracks (and a very few with thousands). When I installed LMS 8.1, I left the default iTunes import plugin 'Ignored playlists' names in place (Library, Videos, Movies, TV Shows, Music, Purchased, Rented Movies, Downloaded). But I had none listed at all in 7.9, so that's sending everything, and all previous screengrabs will have reflected that difference in settings. The interesting thing there, is the faster of the two rescans so far was the version that doesn't have any iTunes playlists ignored (7.9), and that 8.1 takes longer even though it filters out a standard set of playlist names. I've just aligned the iTunes plugins' 'Ignored Playlists' in 7.9 to be the same as 8.1 for all my future comparisons including the next screenshots. Here's how I have it set now in 7.9 and 8.1: 34804 I made a note to myself earlier this week to check what other default playlists are in iTunes and to update this plugin to remove them - but guess that would only save a matter of seconds or minutes in my overall rescan times now I've turned off 'Build full text search index'? Latest comparisons are with Build text search index plugin turned off in both installations. Clear/rescan times in both are quicker. LMS 8.1 in Docker is now the faster of the two - and *three hours* quicker that it had been! Here's the info: *LMS 7.9 from Synology DS218+ Package Centre* - total time 37:08 34805 *LMS 8.1 (Synology DS218+ Docker Container)* - total time 32:50 34803 I'll try a new/changed rescan in both versions this evening to see how they compare. It'd be interesting to know what's causing the slow building of the text search index within Docker (to potentially help out others with the same problem), but I honestly think just turning that plugin off is my personal solution, as the default search options in LMS look absolutely fine to me! Thanks for all the info and advice so far everyone! Are you sure that the fingerprints are archived in the files - "Archive Analysis" (use MP3 Tag to look if there is a fingerprint in a comment field of the tracks). Also - how long does the the analysis take per track when you rescan with a raspberry pi? I am pretty sure the problem is the database when copying or the lack of embedded fingerprints (You need to "archive Analysis" after archiving the tracks in windows, otherwise the fingerprint will not be embedded - files will be modified with a comment tag and the fingerprint). frankd's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=52885 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106958 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

You should scan and embed the fingerprint into the tracks via Windows (that's the time consuming part) but you should not copy the m3lib library to your raspberry (different path). Instead let the musicIP sever of the Raspberry scan and create a new library - if it finds the embedded fingerprints, scanning should be very reasonable and fast and the library will be created withing few minutes. Sugacube can handle different paths, but only when the MusicIP server runs on a different machine. I set them both to Maximum yesterday before doing the latest clear/rescans (shown in screen grabs in my last post above), and run times were the same as before (about 1 hour total time in 7.9; 3.5 hours in 8.1). I guess, for one reason or another, Building full text index takes longer when LMS is in a Docker container - at least on the DS218+ I just noticed that the Docker version would be using a newer version of the SQLite database library - which actually is taken "advantage" of in that plugin when indexing playlists. And you actually have quite a number of playlists imported from iTunes. Are some of them relatively large? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] LmsUpdate and LmsRepack - Synology 8.0.* packages
So despite upping the RAM and priority available to LMS 8.1 in Docker, 'Building full text index' takes almost 3 hours, verses the 20 minutes it takes LMS in the 7.9 Package Centre version. What if you used the "normal" setting in Docker as you do in 7.9? - What even is the text index? I assume you mean the fulltext search index? It allows you to search anything: lyrics (if stored in the music file), comments, parts of paths, parts of the artist name only, rather than only titles, names etc. Eg. if I have a "live recording" in the comment, I can search "gabriel live" to find live recordings by Peter Gabriel. This is not possible with regular search. But this feature is completely optional. You can disable the plugin. - I don't actually know how to find either the 7.9 or 8.1 LMS databases on my Diskstation to compare sizes (think Synology have a habit of hiding certain files and folders). I can probably SSH in via Putty, but don't know what steps I'd need to take or the commands I'd need to type. Any quick tips/how to? See Settings/Information where the cache folder is. For Docker you'd define it in the "Volumes" section of the container configuration. - Any advice on LMS, Docker or Diskstation settings to speed up my 8.1 Building of text index? We still have to understand what the difference causes before we can come to conclusions. ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I haven't chased that issue as in PlayHLSv3 I have removed the AnyEvent module as LMS now has full HTTP 1.1 and https support. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103158 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] LmsUpdate and LmsRepack - Synology 8.0.* packages
The Docker one is finding many more files/folders in the opening phase. Eliminating that difference might help if the each time in the text Indexing phase is caused by one of more of them. I don't recall see this. Any links to the where it was diagnosed ? It's a but strange as all initialisation does is register a protocol handler and playlist parser. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103158 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I haven't made any changes/updates to the repo file or the ZIP file. The repo URL and ZIP both work as I checked them outside of LMS. Both are hosted on github so the usual issues with SF don't apply. On a 8.1 system - I have uninstalled and reinstalled plugin OK. It is probably a intermittent problem and error is being cached somewhere. You could try a https URL instead of a http URL for the repo. It maybe an 8.2 issue - but I cannot see why one plugin should be affected more than others as it is just downloads from a normal source. I've no way to compare either 7.9 or 8.1 side by side in their respective Docker/Package Centre versions on the DS218+, as earliest Docker LMS I can download is 8.0, 7.9 is highest on Package Centre (where it's no longer available anyway). I'm going to compare the 7.9 and 8.1 new and changed rescan times this morning to see how they compare. Three resulting questions: - What even is the text index? If it's pathways to the tracks, could it be as simple as the pathways from Docker being much longer, and it taking longer to write it all? - I don't actually know how to find either the 7.9 or 8.1 LMS databases on my Diskstation to compare sizes (think Synology have a habit of hiding certain files and folders). I have two similar actions "Add" and "Add all" - both should have the same shortcut, but one is wrong (does not use shift key). Which one appears in the toolbar depends on the listing. For exampe showing all albums (when there are more than 10) of search results will use "Add all" - and that has the error. Thanks for reporting. *Material debug:* 1.
