Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] LmsUpdate and LmsRepack - Synology 8.0.* packages

The LMS server.log might have some clues.
My first guess would have been file/folder permissions. Perhaps your new
Perl installation or the running LMS does not have the required rights
to open the files.

I also installed Librespot on my Windows laptop and volume normalisation
definitely works when playing to it from the Spotify app. So volume
normalisation works for Librespot but not for Spotty.

What parameters are you using? There (unfortunately) are three different
normalization related settings in LMS. What streaming format did you use
for Spotty? Did you vary settings/formats in your tests? Did you use any
particular setting in your librespot test?

I succsefully downgraded PERL (Perl-armada38x-5.24.0-0074.spk), and got
my LMS (7.9.1) running again .. Sort of:

I can see the interface and it will play streaming services like
Spotify, but when I try to play music from my library, nothing happens
(it shows 1 or 2 seconds, then stops). I have tried rescanning the
library, but same problem. Does anyone have any ideas? Should I go to
older version of PERL? Anything else?

Sorry to interfere, but it works for me.
QLMS on a QNAP (intel), LMS 8.0.1, Spotty 4.5.4
There have been a couple of failures (*), due to the changes Michael had
introduced in the Spotty custom-convert.conf and helper, but now all
seems OK: either activating or not ReplayGain in Spotty.
Actually, I have decided to turn it off and apply -5 dB in the global
streaming options, because this seems to match well the ReplayGain
settings of my private library (tags calculated at -18 dB LUFS with
dBpoweramp). Playing the same songs I perceive the same sound volume.
ReplayGain in Spotify is calculated at -14 dB LUFS, from the link posted
a few pages earlier.

(*) I use SoX for equalization, and I have a custom-convert for that,
also for Spotify streams: last weekend I blindly upgraded Spotty without
testing, and then left leaving my son for a party with his friends.
Needless to say, playing was broken (I had no idea I had to re-tweak my
custom-convert, due the new changes introduced): it will take a while to
be forgiven... ;-)

PS: from what I understood from the Spotify pages, they level ALL music
at -14 dB LUFS, which is the "normal" setting (or no setting). The
"loud" and "quiet" are -11 dB and -23 dB respectively (and the "dynamic"
normalisation seems to be a peak limiter. I found some more useful info
at the 'librespot options'
(https://github.com/librespot-org/librespot/wiki/Options) page)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] ANNOUNCE: AirPlay Bridge = integrate AirPlay devices with LMS (squeeze2raop)

2021-07-03 Thread manx

I searched high and low in this thread and elsewhere but could not find
a definitive answer so would like to report that the Airplay Bridge
plugin is working perfectly well (so far) with a Sonos Beam soundbar I
recently picked up. I haven't tinkered much with the bridge settings but
it does seem to require that 'send LMS metadata to player' is set to
'yes' for both metadata and cover art. And it required one further
bridge restart before I heard any sound.

DAC SETUP AND WIRELESS CONFIGURATION

When it comes to the DAC selection screen, use the selections below.
This kind of threw me in for a loop because it asks about an i2s DAC

No. "basic" is now baked in to the v1.0.1 helper binaries. The
additional command line parameter was causing issues with some of the

I've added download support for Material APK 0.2.0 release (this will be
the *next* release). Currently it only downloads to the internal storage
- not sure how to access the SD card, but will work on this later. This
also requires the -downlpoading- branch of Material - and again, that is

You could test though by temporarily disconnecting your broadband
(apparently life continues in this situation) ... then play a few songs
... then shutdown LMS and reboot the LMS server ... ... then play a
few more songs on LMS ... then bring the broadband back.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Last.fm scrobbling from LMS with no Internet

2021-07-03 Thread Paul Webster

I think it queues them to disk and keeps trying until it manages to
connect - but not 100% certain.
https://github.com/Logitech/slimserver/blob/359cd3a1d08a1fa86c954d1f6ac412714783522f/Slim/Plugin/AudioScrobbler/Plugin.pm#L325

However, take care ... I found from bitter experience that last.fm does
not accept items more than X days old (I think 1 month) and I think it
refuses items older than the most recent scrobbled.

So when you come back on-line somewhere make sure you do not scrobble
until LMS has caught up.
e.g. if you play from your phone with a media player than can also
scrobble.

I am not 100% certain of this last part because last.fm went through a
horrific period of API rewriting and breaking things a few of years
ago.
It hit me because I scrobble to one account once a month via a command
line tool ... and something broke at last.fm so they were not accepted
and then I reached their time limit so I could not get the old scrobbles
in ... so I had to change the timestamp on them all ... which made it
look like a very busy month once they finally accepted things again.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Last.fm scrobbling from LMS with no Internet

2021-07-03 Thread AndyTwizzle

I'm thinking of buying a Raspberry Pi to setup in combination with a USB
hard drive as a portable LMS. In situations where I won't have Wi-fi
available, does the Last.fm plugin queue up Scrobbles to send out when
Wi-fi is next available, or will it simply fail to Scrobble any tracks
I've played when not on Wi-fi?

Thanks

My setup:

- LMS 7.9.1-168 running on Synology D218+ connected to Wi-Fi router
  via LAN cable
- 1 x Squeezebox Touch, 2 x Squeezebox Radios, 1 x Squeezebox
Receiver, plus Squeeze Player and Squeeze Ctrl Android apps on Samsung
Galaxy Tab S5e and Samsung Galaxy A40 - all connecting over Wi-Fi
- LMS library either ALAC Apple Lossless (scanned in on iTunes) or

Sorry for the delay in getting back it has been a busy time. So I have
set up the Pi using pCP v7.0. and after some tinkering about I now have
access to spotty again. I've lost all of my old favourites etc. and I'm

problems that I can sort out with time, effort and if all else fails a
hammer.

Thanks for your help and guidance Michael.
