Firstly, apologies as I'm sure that this has been covered before, but I can't for the life of me find where. I'm happily using Spotty, but this Christmas we splurged on a Family Premium account and I'd like to assign an different Spotify account to each individual Squeezebox. Grateful if someone could let me know how I do this? I don't seen to have an "account" setting at the player level. Here are the steps I took to get the new HLS streams working on LMS 7.8.0 running on Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8... 1. INSTALL BPA'S PLAYHLS PLUGIN - In LMS, choose Settings and go the the Plugins tab. At the bottom of the screen enter the following URL into the respository URL: http://bpaplugins.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/repo-playhls.xml - Click apply. LMS will prompt to restart - PlayHLS should appear as an available plugin to install. Install as normal (tick the box) and if necessary enable it. LMS will prompt to restart. 2. INSTALL FFMPEG ON YOUR SYSTEM: - Download from http://ffmpegmac.net/ - Make sure you choose the right version. I'm using a 32-bit Mac mini from 2006 so used the 32-bit version; most people probably need the 64 bit version. - Extract 3 files from the downloaded zip file - copy the three extracted files (you probably only need ffmpeg) into the /usr/local/bin directory. - Note that to complete the last step, I had to modify the permissions of /usr/local/bin directory to allow me to write to the folder by typing the following at a terminal prompt: sudo chown -R $(whoami) /usr/local/bin (you will be prompted for your password) 3. CHECK - In LMS Settings - Advanced - Filetype that there a Apple HLS m3u8 File type and there are 3 ffmpeg entries set and not greyed out or disabled. 4. ADD ONE OR MORE OF THE HLS URLS TO YOUR \"FAVORITES\". - On the LMS home page, click the pencil icon to the right of "Favorites" - Copy the URL for your selected station and enter an appropriate description. Your selected stations should now be available in the Favorites menu on your Squeezeboxen for selection. Many thanks to bpa, Michael Herger and penguin_sam for helping to point me in the right direction. The way that the community comes together to solve these problems and help each other never ceases to impress me :) cheers Chippy Chippy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=247 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=53229 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: BBCiPlayer Plugin (UK only)
So - I've installed the plugin and the favourites are in place. When I try to play any of the new streams, the stream looks as if it should be playing on LMS for a couple of seconds but then stops. No sound is played. Presumably, this is because ffmpeg isn't installed on my Mac - but I can't find anywhere that doesn't have a very painful command line approach to installation. I've tried about three of these methods (each of which differs from the others) but get stuck at various "configure" or "make" stages. Surely there's an easier way to get this working?! Please help! Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: BBCiPlayer Plugin (UK only)
Perhaps I should ask a simpler question: how do you install ffmpeg on Mac OS X? I've downloaded from the website, but it's just a zip file containing 3 command line executables. If I run any of them, they just show me a man page with a bunch of options, but not much else to go on... Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)
Hi - I'm having trouble with the plugin - but only on my Squeezebox Radio. When I try to listen, I am able to browse the Spotify menus without issue, but as soon as I try to play a song I get the message "User has been banned" on the Radio screen. Spotify is playing fine through the same LMS to my SB3 and Booms, so I don't think it's my Spotify account. The plugin self test (on LMS) runs OK until the 5th section, where it says "player unable to connect". At the exact time that this part of the test fails, I also see the "User has been banned" message on the radio. The Radio is on my WiFi network - no firewalls, etc, in play. The Radio is otherwise working normally. Yep - I fact I've tried unchecking both of those boxes without success. I should point out that, although LMS reports that plugin updates are available, when I get to the plugin screen there are no plugins that appear to be requesting an update - but I immediately see the pop up dialog box asking me to reboot (or defer until later). I can workaround the problem by selecting "reboot later", but the prompt persists everything I go to the plugin screen. And I i restart the server (via Preferences, etc) SDT is deleted. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SuperDateTime - Current Date/Temperature and/or Baseball Screensaver
I'm having a strange problem using the new plugins on LMS 7.7.5 running on Mac OS X v10.6.8 The steps I take to install are as follows: 1. Uncheck Greg's plugin to uninstall 2. Copy unzipped updates to user/Library/Caches/Squeezebox/InstalledPlugins/Plugins 3. Stop/start server (via Preferences) The plugin now works - however, I now see "Plugin updates are available" on the LMS home screen. If I go to the plugin settings tab, I am prompted to restart server. If I do so, I lose the new SDT plugin. Perhaps this is a problem with Greg's repository refusing to die?! Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SuperDateTime - Current Date/Temperature and/or Baseball Screensaver
Hi Greg - A question/issue about international forecasts after the Weather.com changes: My location is set to London (UKXX0085) and I usually have my Squeezeboxen set to show the forecast for the next "period" - for example showing "Today" in the morning and "Tonight" in the afternoon, etc. Ever since the recent changes, my forecast display now cycles in the following order: Currently -> [time+6hrs] -> Tomorrow -> Tomorrow Night -> Tonight -> Wed... It appears that the next period ("Tonight") is out of order (in 5th position) - it should be between "time+6hrs" and "Tomorrow" (in third position). Unfortunately, only the first four periods show the full forecast, which means that I'm unable to display the usual full forecast for "Tonight". I hope I've been able to explain this OK. Please let me know if further clarification is required! cheers Chippy -- Chippy Chippy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=247 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=14327 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Hi Triode - Quick observation re: 0.9a. The "Now playing" screen on my SB3 and Boom display the URL (http://www.bbc.co.uk/), rather than the favourite label ("Radio Five Live"). If I go back to your trusty v0.7 the favourite label displays correctly. Having been a very happy user of 7.3.3 since I upgraded to Snow Leopard yesterday, I'm clearly ignorant of a lot of the new features in both iPlayer and 7.4! Having read the other thread, you've clearly put in a lot of work to get AAC working - please ignore my laggard comments about WMA. I'll be staying on 7.3.4/0.7 for the time being, but when 7.4 gets a little more stable for (my) general consumption I'm sure the experience of 0.9 (or whatever it is by then) will be just a good. I'm using a Mac. I guess anything's going to be slower than the almost "instant on" that I'm used to. Although to be fair, the "favourites" issue may have clouded my judgement on this one - I didn't do much testing after I hit that issue and quickly reverted back to 0.7. And last night's 7.4 didn't even let me assign preset numbers to favourites! Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBCiPlayer 0.9 and favorites
Understood - thanks. I would personally prefer if we had the option to choose streams in future versions - since I generally listen to "talk" stations (Five Live and Sports Extra) the super fast startup time is of much greater value than slightly better audio quality. Of course, those that listen to BBC music radio may have a different opinion. cheers Chippy -- Chippy Chippy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=247 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=67151 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBCiPlayer 0.9 and favorites
0.7 works great for me. I take back what I said about radio startup taking less than 2 seconds - it's less than 1! :) Using 0.9 had caused me problems with favourites, but also took much longer to start playing the radio stream, and occasionally failed when trying. Forgive my ignorance - I don't know if this is transcode related or not. I just know that 0.7 gives a great user experience. I have the same issue - having just upgraded to Mac OS X Snow Leopard, I thought the problem was related to that. I must have updated from an older version of iPlayer to 0.9 without realising. The ability to use favourites is a killer feature on the Boom. It means I can go from 'standby' to listening to Radio 5 Live in about 2 seconds - including all buffering. It's pretty amazing when compared to other "internet radios". (Yes, I'm looking at you Pure Evoke Flow...) Thanks for posting the 0.7 link. I'll give it a shot... (I'm not at home at the moment - let me know if I need to be clearer on these setting details). Then, I push the 'sleep' button on the remote a number of times to select a sleep time for the SB3. Hi Michael - Firstly, thanks for a great plugin. Been using MusicInfoSCR for a few months now on SB3 and Boom - and it's just another example of what makes this platform great! Thanks again. I've noticed a couple of minor bugs in 4.3.7: Firstly, when displaying the animated sleep icons on a SB3 (not tested Boom), the second image for '60 minutes' appears to be missing. All other times work fine. Secondly, I listen to a lot of Internet radio streams, and I use the 'kbps' option in your plugin. On some stations, I get valid info, but on others (particularly BBC iPlayer stations) it displays '0kbps'. I appreciate that this info may not be available, but perhaps '-kbps' or some alternate may be more appropriate in these situations? SDT is set as my 'off' screen saver. I do not see the weather icon or the small 'hi/lo' temp or 'prec' %age text - this left area of the screen is blank. If I push '+' to refresh data, the missing items appear after a refresh. Is this normal? cheers Chippy -- Chippy Chippy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=247 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=14327 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: Announce: SuperDateTime - Current Date/Temperature and/or Baseball Screensaver
Hi Greg - Thanks for a great plugin! I particularly like the 'slide' transition. One feature update would really make the plugin for me though... I'm a MLB fan in the UK - so most games take place after midnight local time. Whilst it's good to be able to keep track of games if I wake in the middle of the night, it seems that as soon as the game is over, the display switches to 'next game' mode right away. It would be great if I could wake up in the morning and see the score from game that was played overnight. Is it possible to retain the score for a few hours after the game is complete? Thanks once again Chippy -- Chippy Chippy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=247 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=14327 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
