Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Test] Repo for LMS 7.9.0 on Synology DSM 5.*
Hey guys. This might not be the appropriate place for this but after recently upgrading to the official Synology 7.9 package, my library is now inflated by 1597 tracks. In other words, after upgrading to 7.9, my music library now shows 1597 more tracks than there really are. I've done a clear & rescan, delete all the .db files to force a library refresh as well as removing all Trackstat data but nothing has worked so far. Any idea how I can fix this? Hey there, Erland, hope all is well. Recently Synology released v 7.9 of their LMS package and of course I upgraded and ever since, Trackstat is reporting 1597 tracks more than what is actually there. I've done the usual like clear all Trackstat data, delete all the .db files and do a fresh scan etc and nothing worked. Any suggestions? Thanks very much in advance. Nope, I tried messing with musicbrainz a few years ago but decided against it after the duplicate problems with Trackstat. It's been disabled since then. The only thing I can think of is this line from the tutorial: "When setting up MIP, ensure you match the same directory structure as LMS for the location of your music. Ie. Z:\My Music or \\Mynas\My Music" which I think what my problem is. (On the PC that MusicIP is installed, the music is in a mapped drive (M:/Music) and of course on the NAS it's something like volume1/media/music) Could this be what my problem is? Re: Announce: Spicefly SugarCube Version 2.03 (Automatic MusicIP DJ) for 7.x
Ok, here's my setup in detail: LMS 7.7.1-001 running on a Synology DS1511+ NAS. I have MusicIP (headless as well as the GUI version - is there a simple way tu run headless on the Synology?) running on a seperate PC running Windows 7 x64. I do NOT have the MIP plugin installed for LMS. I used the MIP GUI to scan my entire collection and had it save the analysis to the files. The first I see problem at this point is that none of the files change their status to "Analyzed" and looking at the log.txt file, I have entries like this: "Tue May 08 21:46:52 2012 [0:00] Fingerprint failed (mis-execution): M:\Music\The Goo Goo Dolls - Dizzy Up The Girl\08 - All Eyes On Me.flac". So the fingerprinting fails for some reason. The second problem is the bit about UNC paths. This is not a problem in LMS as it is already using UNC to locate my music library. The problem is with MIP GUI. There's no place for me to enter a UNC. The GUI forces me to use a drive letter instead and I see no place where I can enter the UNC (see screenshot below). So instead I tried entering the path in the headless client but that doesn't seem to save anything, it just goes back to 0 files. And one final point is that since MIP is running on a sperate machine, I put that machine's IP address in the "MusicIP Host Location" setting for the Sugarcube plugin in LMS instead of "localhost". That's how it's supposed to be, correct? Thanks for your help, I'm really itching to get this working... ;) +---+ |Filename: Clipboard01.jpg | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=13346| +---+ Morbeas's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=53547 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73988 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: Announce: Spicefly SugarCube Version 2.03 (Automatic MusicIP DJ) for 7.x
Ok, I'm confused. How do I get the headless client to run on my NAS? Also in your site it says that I do NOT need to install the MIP plugin but now you're saying that I do? Here's a direct quote from your FAQ: "Do I need the MusicIP plugin for SB? No, you do not need to install setup or configure the official MIP plugin. SC uses its own routines and doesn’t utilise any LMS MIP plugin settings. This means you can keep your LMS environment clean from MIP and not have the additional overhead of running the MIP scans within LMS." Also I don't understand what this means: "The file location you set in the web-GUI for MIP server should be the same as you set in the LMS server." Thanks again. LOL, sorry about that. I never bothered to look at your name. :) Ok so my first question remains: how do I run headless on my NAS? I set the directory path in LMS using UNC but now I'm getting the following error in the log file: [12-05-10 22:15:43.3670] Slim::Utils::Misc::msg (1304) Warning: [22:15:43.3667] Could not open \\SYNOLOGY\Media\Music\Badlands - Badlands\03 - Jade's Song.flac for reading: Invalid argument [12-05-10 22:15:45.9947] Slim::Player::Protocols::File::open (102) Error: could not open \\SYNOLOGY\Media\Music\Badlands - Badlands\03 - Jade's Song.flac: Invalid argument [12-05-10 22:15:45.9951] Slim::Player::Song::open (471) Warning: stream failed to open [file:SYNOLOGY/Media/Music/Badlands%20-%20Badlands/03%20-%20Jade%27s%20Song.flac]. Re: Announce: Spicefly SugarCube Version 2.03 (Automatic MusicIP DJ) for 7.x
I fixed it and here's what I've learned: If you have LMS set to "Automatically run at system start", it will NOT work if your music is on a network share that uses different credentials. You MUST have it set to "Automatically run at login". This might be some sort of bug but I ran across this solution on the net last night after hours of tedious searching. I did a backup/restore as you mentioned above and it took only a few seconds even though the paths are now different. I have all my ratings back now! Thanks a million! :) Morbeas's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=53547 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73988 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Something's seriously wrong ever since I upgraded to 4.25. No matter what seed song I select, Sugarcube always selects the same artists and songs. I select a Metallica song as a seed and it'll pick Aretha Franklin next. I tried messing with some of the settings for the player I'm using but nothing seems to effect it. Any ideas? PS. Re: Announce: Spicefly SugarCube Version 2.03 (Automatic MusicIP DJ) for 7.x
As for the troubleshooting link: 1 - I went to http://localhost:10002/api/mix? to check the MusicIP installation and it checked out. It spat out the 55 songs I have specified in the settings. 2 - I checked Sugarcube history and it shows 0 songs like the above poster. Though that is probably due to the fact that I uninstalled and reinstalled LMS in my frustration to get Sugarcube working. That, of course, did not help. I have since played several songs and they still did not reflect in Sugarcube history. But it definitely works as it picks the songs as it gets to the last song of any playlist. So it definitely functions. 3 - I never had any MIP filters on so that step does not apply. 4 - I turned off TrackStat and the result is the same. 5 - I'm meticulous about my music collection so my tags are perfect. Should I record a log maybe and post it here? Re: Announce: Spicefly SugarCube Version 2.03 (Automatic MusicIP DJ) for 7.x
I'm confused, how can it be picking Aretha Franklin 2 songs after King Diamond and be considered "queueing up songs as expected"? Especially since I have the Mix Style set at its strictest (200). If that's how it's really supposed to work, then I could've saved myself $33 and just listen to songs on random. I only have 10 .wav files in a library of 7061 songs. How on earth can you possibly see "a lot of warnings" on just 10 files? How does that even factor in to this whole issue? Anyway, I moved those 10 .wav files out of the library for this exercise. The warnings on .m3u files are to be expected as I change the file names to correct errors. Is this a problem? If so, I can just get rid of the playlists as they're not a big deal really. As for your suggestions: 1 - I did have it set to monitor continuously and now changed that. Shut down the app, restarted the PC, when it came back, I launched it and let it scan. A majority of the songs are analyzed (6995 are analyzed out of 7061). 2 - After the scanning completed, I went to http://localhost:10002/ and let it reload the cache. 3 - Performed a full clear and rescan in LMS. I'm now going to start testing and will let you know how things go in a little bit. So within 3 songs, we went from Pantera to Audioslave, which is barely hard rock. What am I supposed to be looking at in the Live View window exactly? In the first screenshot, all the recommended songs by MIP seem to be OK but for some reason Sugarcube goes in a totally different direction. To be perfectly honest, even picking MX by Deftones right after Becoming is not acceptable, but at least it's in the same genre. Unfortunately though, it all goes downhill from there. Re: Announce: Spicefly SugarCube Version 2.03 (Automatic MusicIP DJ) for 7.x
I would completely agree except that this progression of (not necessarily in this order) Anthrax, Alice In Chains, Blind Melon, Aerosmith, Aretha Franklin, Badlands, Billy Joel always comes up in all mixes within the first 5 songs. I mean I do agree and enjoy a slight variation (which is why I have my variation setting at 2) but not within 5 songs! I'm thinking it should take more like 100 songs for it to go from Anthrax to Aretha Franklin. Otherwise if all I wanted to listen to was metal, I certainly would not go through this hassle and just use my NAS' built-in audio application and have it pick random tracks from any given genre. To me, that's not what this is about, though. I do want it to go from Meshuggah to Pink Floyd to Miles Davis and back up to A Perfect Circle to AC/DC to Pantera etc. Isn't it this exact thing what the "variety" setting is supposed to be controlling? Again, I'm so incredibly frustrated with this thing. I pretty much spend most of my disposable time trobleshooting this thing. It's become an unhealthy obsession! To make matters worse, I'm in the computer industry myself and can usually fix things like this with relative ease (hell you can almost perform heart surgery these days with instructions found by simply properly searching Google). :) Anyway, I'm now going to give Erland's above suggestion a try and see where that takes me. What took me over the edge today was that it worked flawlessly when I was testing it for a few hours. I started with all kinds of genres and let it go for 15, 20 tracks and it was just perfect! LOL I don't know why but the whole thing took a dump just as I was typing a "thank you" message to you and Erland and wanted to show it off by taking a screenshot and posting it here! :) And about Metallica, they're the band that got me into metal in the first place back when I was 13 so I can't help but have a soft spot for them. Though I do (unfortunately) agree that Metallica after Cliff Burton was never the same again. :( Morbeas's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=53547 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73988 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: Announce: Spicefly SugarCube Version 2.03 (Automatic MusicIP DJ) for 7.x
The problem isn't Aretha Franklin being selected in a mix where the seed song is Blind Melon though. It's Aretha Franklin appearing in a mix where Metallica is the seed. I think that's quite clear by now. And I've contacted cparker, let's see how that goes... Ok, I'm happy to report that things have been going great and I have no idea why. Anyway, this is a new problem that just cropped up yesterday. I just added this album (Rising by Rainbow) and it's perfectly tagged and analyzed just like every other file in my library but for some reason, SC refuses to mix it. I tried re-analyzing and re-tagging, as well as having MIP rebuild the entire db it but didn't help. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
While I have your ear, I wanted to ask you something: When a song is playing (this is on my iPad, btw), I long-press it and go to rate it. I then rate the song and all is well. The issue is when the track changes, I have to do it all over again. Even though the page with the rating scale remains on the screen, it's still associated with the previous track. Is there any way to change this behaviour? Thanks again. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
I totally understand. I think the easiest fix would be to have the option to have either a 1-5 or a 1-10 star system (this could be a user selectable option) for the bottom left. Maybe use a slightly smaller font for the 1-10 scale? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: New versions of erlands plugins
Ok, ever since I started trying to export my TrackStat ratings, out of nowhere, tonight, the whole system started doing strange things. When I'm playing a song, it now loses connection whenever I do anything with the context menu (like bring up the ratings menu - which I do for almost every track I listen to), and hangs for a good 30+ seconds, after which it reconnects again, only to hang a little later. This happens every single time I play a song. I thought maybe the "Continously write to playlists" option was a bit too much for my NAS and checked it off, but still the same. I now cannot listen to anything from any controller (Ipad/Android or the web interface from a PC). The behaviour is always the same with the connection timing out 100% of the time. I need urgent help please, erland. :( Morbeas's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=53547 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49483 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
