Thanks Jim (and for the reply on the 'other thread in the
MySqueezebox.com forum'
I will look into it.

BTW sorry for starting two threads - I hadn't initially realised the
MySB requirement, but once I had found it, it seemed that discussions
about Deezer were more active over in the other forum. I will keep my
discussion in the other thread from now.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alternatives to spotify / spotty?

2022-02-14 Thread Zoltan

I have been thinking of giving Deezer a go as an alternative to
Spotify.

According to my settings, I have the Deezer plugin installed but I do
not see any sign of it in the UI. For example, Spotty appears under My
Apps on the Web UI but I have never seen anything related to Deezer.

Is there something I need to do to enable it?

BTW I do not have a Deezer account yet. I am just trying to understand
the steps needed to make it available in my Squeezebox devices. It would
be a dealbreaker if it is not possible for any reason as I would want it
to be my primary mode of access.

Earlier today, I noticed that the Listen Again programmes on all
stations stop in the early hours of Sunday morning. e.g. on R4 the
latest programme I see is Profile at 5:45 am. Other stations stop
earlier.

I have tried restarting my server but still see the same. The log is

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] For the brave only: the Spotty Spotify implementation

2017-07-05 Thread Zoltan

Thanks Michael.

I am using the Odroid as a server.

I went ahead and have had some success. The basic installation steps
seemed to work without issue and Spotty is showing up in My Apps. I
wasn't able to authenticate via my Spotify app on my Android phone. It
wasn't showing any devices at all (not even the phone itself which was
playing at the time, though subsequently I installed the PC desktop
Spotify app and I do now see that on my phone).

Manual entry of credentials allowed me to run the Spotty app via the web
interface and I played something from my Spotify library on a Boom I
have in the room. So essentially I think it is working but I'm still
not able to see it as a device from my phone. Is that what is referred
to as 'Spotify Connect'? (Sorry, I'm still catching up on this!)

In case it's relevant I am running Max2Play/LMS 7.9.0 on the Odroid. Is
it worth trying a nightly 7.9.1?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] For the brave only: the Spotty Spotify implementation

2017-07-05 Thread Zoltan

Hi,

I'm a long time SB user but completely new to Spotify, having just
succumbed to my kids' pleading and signed up to a family account.

Now that I am paying for it, I would like to see if I can get it working
with my SB system. There seems to be more than one way to do this and to
be honest I am a bit confused. Maybe I could ask a few questions...

1. Even though the title of the thread suggests bleeding edge, has this
implementation stabilised now to the extent that it might be recommended
to a new user? If not, what approach would be recommended and can
someone point me to simple up to date instructions?

Assuming I do proceed with the new approach...

2. Looking at the initial post, there is some interaction with MySB
implied. I have never to my knowledge used MySB (other than setting up
an account a long time ago) - I've always been a local server/local
music collection SB user. I'm guessing that there is some assumed
knowledge of setting up a Spotify account on MySB. Is there some
explanation of this somewhere? Is MySB needed whatever approach is taken
with Spotify?

3. Hardware compatibility was mentioned as a possible issue. The thread
has got to an overwhelming size now and I haven't read much of it so I
apologise if this is already answered but is it known whether an Odroid
U3 will work? (If not known, I am happy to try and report back.)

Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Max2Play on Odroid U3 : nfs mount Synology Diskstation music folder

2016-05-22 Thread Zoltan

I reinstated my old Raspberry Pi running SqueezePlug and I find that I
am able to mount the nfs share there without any issues with
permissions.

The mount command I used there is:

mount -o nolock :/volume1/music /mnt/.../music

I'm not sure why the "-o nolock" here; I found this in my bash history.
No doubt it was advised on some website I found at some point. In any
case, I tried this option on the U3 to no avail.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Max2Play on Odroid U3 : nfs mount Synology Diskstation music folder

2016-05-22 Thread Zoltan

Not really sure whether this should go in this forum, 3rd party hardware
or Linux but I'll try here as it might be Max2Play specific.

Basically, I am tearing my hair out trying to get my music folder, on a
Synology DS215j NAS, mounted as an nfs share in my Max2Play system
running on an Odroid U3. This set up is fairly new to me.

The annoying thing is that I had this working until yesterday but then I
rebooted the Odroid. I have never been able to get it to work via the
Max2Play web interface but I previously got the mount to work via the
command line having ssh'ed into the Odroid. Stupidly, I did not write
down what I did, nor did I capture it in the fstab, and I find that the
bash history is not preserved between reboots.

I have followed the' Synology instructions for setting up the share'

These suggest that doing something like:

mount :/volume1/music /mnt/music

should work (I have created the target directory on the Odroid).

In fact the mount does work but the problem is with permissions. If I do
ls -a /mnt/music, I see this sort of thing:

d- 7 1026 users 4096 nov 11 2015 flac

flac is one of the subdirectories of the music folder I am sharing from
the NAS.

All I can think is that I previously used some additional options with
the mount command.

All I see is minimal text such as BBC Radio 4. I'm not sure if I should

it's going a bit awkward for the next couple of days.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBCiPlayer Plugins - an alternative quick fix guide

2016-03-29 Thread Zoltan

Recently I finally got around to putting my Odroid U3 properly into
service to replace my v1 Pi-based server. This is using Max2Play. I
followed the quick fix guide in the current thread to get the BBC
plugins up and running and they are working great apart from one thing.
When I play a live stream, there is no logo showing - just a blank
screen. I get this on the Touch, Radio and in Orange Squeeze on my
phone. It's not a major problem but I wondered if I'd missed something
in the set up or whether this is something that just isn't working at
the moment.

Last time I asked for advice on the BBC plugins on this forum, it was on
the main BBCiPlayer thread and I ended up following this present set of
instructions. Looking back at my post there and the replies, there was
some mention of a menu.opml file and I wonder if this had something to
do with this problem but I'm not able to figure out from what was
written there exactly what I had to do (in particular, where to get it
from). I'm dubious anyway with it not being mentioned in the
instructions in the first post of this thread, which seems to have been
actively kept up to date.

Apologies if I'm being dense but thanks in advance for any advice!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: BBCiPlayer Plugin (UK only)

2015-11-01 Thread Zoltan

I only just noticed that Listen Again is not working and find I am a bit
late to the party. It looks like there is a fix but there are a lot of
posts now and I'm not sure I have been able to glean from the threads
here exactly what I need to do.

In case it makes any difference I'm running a Raspberry Pi (old model)
with Squeezeplug. My LMS version is 7.8.1. When things went awry
earlier in the year I seem to recall that the fix involved editing
BBCXMLParser.pm and replacing the ffmpeg executable. Also, I have a zip
file on my PC containing menu.opml dating from around the right time, so
I suspect I replaced that on the Pi too though to be honest I don't
remember what I did.

I recall that there was an alternative fix at the time involving a new
plugin version from Triode but I did not follow that fix. I found the
recent post from utgg with a modified BBCXMLParser.xml but I think
something I have read in this thread suggests that the new plugin might
also be needed for the current fix. Is that correct? And, if so, that
raises a couple of questions for me: how exactly do I install that
plugin; and do I need to back out any of the changes I made earlier in
the year?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: BBCiPlayer Plugin (UK only)

2015-03-14 Thread Zoltan

For live streams, I have been making do with setting a couple of tune-in
URLs as favourites while I saw how things would settle down but I'd like
to sort it now. My server is running on a Raspberry Pi.

I have now read the quick fix thread and I am fairly comfortable with
what I need to do except that I recall there were some issues with
ffmpeg, especially on the Raspberry Pi. I was only half following the
main iPlayer plugin thread when all this was kicking off but I think it
was something to do with processes being left over. I also recall there
was discussion about particular versions and I think someone was
experimenting with some sort of wrapper script at one stage? I have
tried reading through bits of this thread again but I couldn't see if or
where things got resolved.

Anyway, I would be *really* grateful if some kind person could give me a
quick summary of whether there was a definitive solution and if so what
needs to be done wrt ffmpeg on Raspberry Pi.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2010-11-10 Thread Zoltan

First - apologies if this is a problem that has already been covered. I
have tried searching but have not been able to find anything.

I have iPeng 1.2.8 installed and it works great if I use the Custom
Browse menu entry to get to my music. However, if I use the Artists,
Albums, etc., buttons along the bottom of the screen, the song listings
show up as empty. So for example, if I choose a particular artist in
the Artists list, I see two lines shown on the page that is shown: the
first is "All Songs" and the second the artist name. If I select "All
Songs" I just see "Add all (0)" on the next page that is shown. If I
start with the "Albums" button and select an album from there I get
"Add all (0)" again.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPod touch - what size for iPeng?

2010-03-06 Thread Zoltan

I've also been toying with the idea of getting an ipod touch and while
iPeng is the main attraction, if I'm going to justify to myself spending
that much, I want it to be more than a remote for my SBs, albeit a
super-funky one! I'd like at least for it to be a decent mp3 player but
I've come across quite a few reports that its sound quality isn't great,
which I find a bit offputting. I'd welcome any comments on this. (I've
maybe been a bit spoilt in this regard as I still use my iRiver H140 and
that's generally regarded as one of the best sounding mp3 players there
has been.)

The other aspect of the Touch that interests me is as a way of
accessing the web and email. How usable is it with such a small screen
and no keyboard?

Finally, is it really necessary to use iTunes with it? I had it
installed once and I really didn't get on with it. I seem to recall it
was annoying even when I wasn't using it - kept hassling me about
downloading updates and other Apple stuff!
