Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Music Source PlugIn?
I'm very glad this came up! I've been having problems with both CDPlayer and Wave Input plugins, which I can't solve. This does the trick (mostly). I'm gathering it's an mp3 stream which isn't ideal, but it gives me the option to stream across my system. bzlrbi's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=30606 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112766 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I'm having similar problems again, even with all USB drives unused, FYI. I think I'll just use wavin:0 as a work-around. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: CDplayer plugin
FYI, I was just playing a CD and when I plugged in an additional exterior hard drive, it killed the sound and LMS showed "No CD in Drive". I don't see anything distinctive about the drive locations or lettering. I replicated the condition just to make sure. Ejecting this new drive immediately solved the issue. Easy workaround for me, but thought you might like to know. Perhaps it's an issue with the number of drives connected? bzlrbi's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=30606 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=47288 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I went in to the computer's "device manager", disabled the empty card reader, and voila! Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: CDplayer plugin
First I feel I am no geting consistent information. Have you been plugging disk in / out of your system while various test runs have been done ? **Not before now, as far as optical drive, but I have just now put in a different, more modern disc drive (Blu Ray compatible) into the exterior container. (Device USBSTOR\CdRom_HL-DT-ST_BD-RE_.) No change in visible results, Command line still doesnt see it. I do occasionally switch other external drives, to backup something. **I had not seen this Micron entry before yesterday. I dont know what that is. Summarising the result of cdda2wav v2 & v3 supposed on same system and I assumed identical setup Code: cdda2wav V3 - Adminstrator 0,0,0 0) 'Multiple' 'Card Reader' '1.00' Removable Disk 1,0,0 100) 'Seagate ' 'BUP BK ' '0304' Disk 2,0,0 200) 'Seagate ' 'Backup+ Desk ' '040B' Disk 3,0,0 300) 'Seagate ' 'Backup+ Desk ' '040B' Disk 4,0,0 400) 'HL-DT-ST' 'DVD+-RW GHB0N ' 'A1C0' Removable CD-ROM 5,0,0 500) 'Seagate ' 'BUP Portable' '1707' Disk cdda2wav v2 - from LMS running as Adminstrator 0,0,0 0) 'Multiple' 'Card Reader' '1.00' Removable Disk 0,1,0 1) 'ST1000DM' '003-1ER162 ' 'CC45' Disk 0,4,0 4) 'ST315005' '41AS' 'CC34' Disk 1,0,0 100) 'NVMe' 'Micron 2200S NVM' '1030' Disk 15,0,0 1500) 'Seagate ' 'BUP Portable' '1707' Disk 16,0,0 1600) 'Seagate ' 'BUP BK ' '0304' Disk 17,0,0 1700) 'Seagate ' 'Backup+ Desk ' '040B' Disk There is some commonality but there are extra drives such as Micron 22000S in one scan and not in another while the V2 has 17 "usb" controllers vs 5 with V3 - are there USB hubs or something being plugged in/out. **I might have added/subtracted a backup HD. I do this all the time. Has the hardware configuration changed while running tests ? There is no point in trying to identify a hardware issue if hardware is being changed. I have managed to get my system to see my USB CDrom drive and I think the fundamental issue is presence of other external USB mass storage devices and not s/w version or adminstrator privileges. cdda2wav V3 (from cdrfte) sort of works as is with CDplayer plugin (i.e. get table of ccontents, CD name, tracks) but I couldn't get it to play reliably - it may play one track and then stop - it seems to be stuck at Windows level. cdda2wav v2 played tracks etc OK from my external USB drive so I see no reason to change from cdda2wav. cdda2wav is a Linux application developed in 1998 when PCs CDROM drive were attached using either ATAPI or SCSI hardware interfaces. So 20 years later, we are using this same piece of software when the PC bus technology is now PCIe, SATA and USB 3.1 . The application uses cygwin to do Linux-Windows and other compatibility libraries to "map" USB onto SCSI as USB1 had similar functionality & topology. The compatibility is a translation and it is never a one-to-one match. It is further complicated by the fact that PC hardware has changed and now bus interface are usually layered within PC (i.e. USB2 ports feed into USB3.1 controllers) and also with Windows s/w (drives are mapped with a hidden layer of hierarchy). I think the following is the root of the problem. The result of this mess of multiple compatibility/mapping layers is that external USB drives are mapped into what cdda2wav sees as addresses such as 0,0,0 - Windows can handle multiple 0,0,0 devices as it has an internal additional level to separate them but cdda2av cannot. If you have multiple USB Mass storage devices attached to your system which want same address - you will bump up against the cdda2wav limitation. My initial feeling is the Device "'Multiple' 'Card Reader ' '1.00' Removable Disk" is taking the 0,0,0 that your external USB CDrom drive would like. I think you'll only be able to use an external USB CDrom drive if there are not other USB mass storage devices attached. **For years, this has been my typical setup. The obvious difference is that my optical disc drive is USB for the first time. If I need to remove my other disc drives in order for the optical drive to be seen, that wont work for me, unfortunately. Id just need to get used to relying on WavInput when I wish to stream a CD live. This theory can only be checked by you testing on your system running "cdda2wav -scanbus" many time with various USB devices combinations plugged in/out and seeing which devices hog the USB bus and result in other devices being hidden from cdda2wav (although visible to Windows 10) **Ill shut down LMA, remove my external drives excepting the optical drive, and let you know if that results in the optical drive being seen. (I should get reply within a half hour.) If it is then seen, at least well know the cause, and the solution, even if its one that wont work for me, personally. **Thanks again for your efforts! bzlrbi's Profile:

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: CDplayer plugin
4. The CDplayer plugin has many "moving parts" which all must be right for it to work. Your answers must be more exact to have any chance to figure out what is happening. The good news is that your cddw2wav log looks like it could be made to work but the bad news if that only one message a day is exchanged it could take 2 weeks. To check windows behaviour/versions etc, I have to shut down a system, reconfigure hardware and reboot windows - so I have to plan what I want to test and when, to the most out of the test and minimise disruption to my own setup.. Originally Posted by bzlrbi Firstly, I open LMS automatically with startup of Windows. Please explain exactly how you "open LMS with startup of Windows". This comes from choosing the automatically run at login option from the LMS Control Panel. The only other option per the control panel is dont start automatically which obviously is an option. However, for all my testing yesterday, stopping LMS, turning on the optical drive and restarting LMS did not change the result. Please give a better descrptions of how LMS is started. IIRC under most circumstances Windows does not allow background services started at system startup to access CD drive hardware so how LMS is started is critcal.. Just recently, that resulted in the same lack of success, so I opened both cdrtools and re-opened LMS as administrator, from the Windows start menu. None of this changed anything as far as LMS seeing a CD within the drive. This also allowed me to see a command line of "C:\Program Files (x86)\cdrtfe\tools\scripts>" cdda2wav is a Linux program which has been ported to Windows using compatibility libraries cygwin. If different version of cygwin exost on the same system - problems can occur. Uninstall cdrfte and then shutdown Windows and reboot in order to cygwin libraries to be cleared out of Windows caches. **Done 2. If CDplayer plugin files were changed - uninstall plugin and reinstall. **NA (but I can certainly do this, but I tried doing same a few times yesterday). Check that cdda2wav.exe is in the directory and run it with "cdda2wav -scanbus" command. Copy and inlcude output on a post. **Done attached. Looks fine (to my untrained eyes). 4. If CD drive is not found - repeat but steps 1 to 3 but this time Command prompt run as adminstrator. If cdda2wav works OK as user in step 3 and "sees" your CD drive then do the next test 1. For these tests, LMS can only be run from within a logged in user - so either using "Start" /"Stop" button on control panel or "Start" /"Stop" menu from Squeezetray. **Stopped. Start LMS. 4.In LMS WebGUI Settings - Advanced/Logging - check the box "Save logging settings for use at next application restart" - change the logging leve for plugin.cdplayer to DEBUG - click the "Apply" button 5. Stop LMS 6. Note time. **8:49am. 7. Start LMS 8. From LMS WebUI Settings / Information - open server log file and copy lines from time noted in step 6 to end - no editing. 9. Hi, I don't understand any of this, but here is what I found out. Firstly, I open LMS automatically with startup of Windows. Just recently, that resulted in the same lack of success, so I opened both cdrtools and re-opened LMS as administrator, from the Windows start menu. None of this changed anything as far as LMS seeing a CD within the drive. This also allowed me to see a command line of "C:\Program Files (x86)\cdrtfe\tools\scripts>" First time I typed only "cdda2wav" and it launched the drive and apparently recorded the 1st track on the CD. the second time I typed "cdda2wav -scanbus" and it listed all of my drives, including the optical drive. However, there are messages about all sorts of insufficent privileges, as you will see on the attached file. LMS still isn't recognizing that there is a CD in that drive to play. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] WaveInput not working on players
Wow. This appears to be a real problem. If you google no stereo mix driver vista you'll see what comes up. It's apparently a big deal that lots of manufacturers (including Dell) have intentionally ommitted the Stereo Mix drivers. I'm guessing that I had an outdated XP driver on my Vista machine, but when I updated the sound drivers it deleted the Stereo Mix one. Apparently it's not easy to get it back! I'm concerned that I can't have both a driver for SPDIF and for Stereo Mix, so that (assuming I can figure out how to go back to the outdated driver) I have to choose either/or. I'd rather have WaveInput over the SPDIF, if it comes down to it, since WaveInput allows me to stream throughout the house, wirelessly. It just sucks that I might have to make the choice. bzlrbi's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=30606 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101185 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I appreciate it very much! from Control Panel information tab: LMS version 7.7.3 CUT2013 (don't know what this means) Operating system: Windows Vista - EN - cp1252 Platform Architecture: 586 Perl Verision: 5.14.1 - MSWin32-x86-multi-thread Database Verion: DBD::SQLite 1.34_01 (sqlite 3.7.7.1) bzlrbi's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=30606 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101185 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] WaveInput not working on players
I just checked, and the wavincmd.exe file was already noted in AVG as OK (exceptions), apparently . I added SqueezeSvr.exe to the list. I then applied, stopped LMS, restarted. No change. bzlrbi's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=30606 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101185 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

bpa wrote: If by LED you mean the display then it seems to imply that the Favorite you are playing has the URL wavin:0 - in which case there must be something in the log file. How are you looking at the log file ? Are using an editor ? If you are using the WebUI then I guess you are not looking back far enough. As I suggested please repeat the test with an actual music file that plays **I'm going through the link on the LMS Control Panel, but I also went to C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\Logs and I see the same information. Time on the logs matches exactly with playing and pausing from the Web UI. This make no sense - the plugin is part of LMS. **Ok, fair enough. What would I know? You have to change your mindset - if there were no changes then it would still be working. Something has changed - it won't work until you figure out what has changed. This measn checking each part separately **I said *I* haven't made any changes. Whether something else made a change? No idea. You said you made no changes - yet you uninstalled and reinstalled the plugin. Was the application registered (something like wavincmd.exed) with your security application before and if so have you re-registered the WaveInput application with your security s/w ? Does the Waveinput application run OK from a command prompt ? **I uninstalled only when the described symptoms played out, i.e. when it did not work. I automatically re-installed via the Web UI/settings/plugins page, as I've done before. Everything looks fine there. I checked security software and I don't see anything that should prevent it from playing; no need (or way) to register as far as I can tell; to make sure I disabled security software; no difference. **I just gave myself a crash-course on dos commands and got to the .exe file at C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\Cache\InstalledPlugins\Plugins\WaveInput\Bin. I enter wavin2cmd.exe -o (based on information I'm seeing on the dos screen), and it seems to accept this, but no music is playing. Is this how I would run it from a command prompt? **Attached is a new log, with an mp3 file playing; confirming that player.source was set to Debug. This certainly looks a lot more involved than what I posted before. (I also notice a dropdown box under logging for waveinput: should we try something with this, perhaps?) Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] WaveInput not working on players
Glad you have more information to work with; I must've done something wrong before... I start LMS via desktop shortcut icon after system has been booted. Sometimes right after, sometimes not for a while, i.e. it varies. Nothing new, here, for me. For yucks and grins I just did an xilink reset to my primary Transporter (while other players were off), but still nothing (i.e. the wavin clock on the Transporter doesn't start). bzlrbi's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=30606 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101185 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] WaveInput not working on players
I suggest the following 1. Check the Settings/Plugins tab and make sure there is a tick mark against the WaveINput plugin. -**It is/was- Note the version -(**1.05)- and whether the Settings links works. Report back version and whether settings link works. **I'm not sure if I'm understanding whether the Settings links works. Perhaps there is enough information here, this time. 2. Look at the WaveInput favorite and report back the URL . -http://127.0.0.1:9000/plugins/Favorites/index.html?sess=1index=0player=00%3A04%3A20%3A10%3A12%3A7bplayer=00:04:20:10:12:7b- 3. Redo the test again with logging enable. To make sure of log note time, play a few secs from file, stop and then play waveinput favorite and then stop and note time. Copy log from start of music file to when waveinput is paused. **Just to make sure... at the Web UI, I'm at the Advanced tab. There is a logging dropdown box at the very top of the page: nothing changes there. Then, under Advanced Log Settings, I changed the dropdown box for (server.plugins) from its default of Error to Debug. Most of the other dropdown boxes remain set at their default of Error. Then, apply and Close. I go to Favorites at the Web UI, click Play, and the time counter does start (while it still doesn't on either of my two Transporters).I did this twice, with seemingly vastly different server log results. 1st time, 9:04am: After 1 minute, 45 secs I paused. The server log information is certainly different, this time. It's short enough that I'm pasting below. The second time (9:19am, for 30 seconds) is much longer log detail and is attached. bpa wrote: The URL used to start the WaveInput plugin must begin with wavin: - so what you have posted is not correct - you must edit the Favorites menu to see the URL you are trying to use to start the plugin.. **Under favorites it's wavin:0 (and has always been). The URL I posted was by right clicking, and going to properties; it's the html address. From the log it looks you've enabled the logging ok but it's just there was no activity logged as if you did nothing except press the pause key during the period of the log shown. **No idea why it looks this way, but I assume that this is The Problem. I am pressing Play, I'm pausing, I'm copying/pasting the log information. Again, the symptoms are: everything looks just as it always has on the Web UI; nothing abnormal. But, different storyon my players, themselves. The LED shows wavin:0 as always, but the time counter never starts. I'm guessing that the WaveInput is fine, and it's LMS that's causing this. As said, I've used WaveInput for years, and never had an issue until 2 days ago. I didn't make any changes that should have caused anything to stop working. bzlrbi's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=30606 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101185 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
[SlimDevices: Plugins] WaveInput not working on players
I've used WaveInput frequently, and for years, without ever having a problem until now. Looking at my Controller, or at the Web interface, and at the Server Settings everything looks fine, e.g. the time counter is working. However, looking at my players (2 Transporters) the time counter is stuck at 0:00 I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app, and rebooted everything, all without success. Looking at the server log, I'm seeing the following error, with these two GLOB values, repeating over and over. I don't know how to deal with this, however, or if it's relevant. [14-03-19 17:35:57.0038] Slim::Networking::IO::Select::__ANON__ (147) Error: Select task failed calling Slim::Web::HTTP::sendStreamingResponse: illegal file descriptor or filehandle (either no attached file descriptor or illegal value): at /C:\PROGRA~1\SQUEEZ~1\server\SQUEEZ~3.EXESlim/Networking/IO/Select.pm line 150. ; fh=Slim::Web::HTTP::ClientConn=GLOB(0x7b9b824) [14-03-19 17:35:57.0044] Slim::Networking::IO::Select::__ANON__ (147) Error: Select task failed calling Slim::Web::HTTP::sendStreamingResponse: illegal file descriptor or filehandle (either no attached file descriptor or illegal value): at /C:\PROGRA~1\SQUEEZ~1\server\SQUEEZ~3.EXESlim/Networking/IO/Select.pm line 150. ; fh=Slim::Web::HTTP::ClientConn=GLOB(0x80d7904) I've made no changes to my network, computer, or to LMS recently. It's just stopped working. The plugin is vital to my listening habits, so I'll wipe out everything, and start from scratch if I have to, but of course I'd rather not! LMS 7.7.3, Vista here. bpa wrote: Enable player.source logging to DEBUG (it is in WebUI Settings/Advanced/logging ) - don't forget to click Apply. Note start time, then try playing the waveinput Favorite you use. Wait for about 1 minute and then stop stream and note time. Copy all the lines from server log file between start and stop time into a text file (do not omit anything), zip the text file and attach to a post. Thanks! I'll try it tonight and get back. bzlrbi's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=30606 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101185 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I think the lines after pause are likely superfluous but I've included them anyhow.
