[SlimDevices: Plugins] Moose vs. Rel. 7.5.1
Since installing Squeezecenter release 7.5.1 (from, I think, 7.3.something) Moose 0.73a has been acting a little strangely - it can take 50 seconds or more before the pop-up toast has been updated to display the currently playing track as opposed to the previous track. I thought I'd rescan the database to see if it made any difference (I've no idea why it should but it seemed worth a go!).First time I ran this I got a message that told me to restart the server. I restarted the server and now get the message 'Problem connecting to MySQL Server: Reading from the stream had failed'. As you may have gathered, Moose was set up to use MYSQL DB. A little digging reveals that from 7.4 Squeezecenter has apparently reverted to SQlite so I've been trying to follow the instructions for getting Moose to use that. Trouble is I can't find a Squeezecenter.db anywhere; this is on a Windows 7 system and Moose is running on a different machine to Squeezecenter (Squeezecenter on W7 and Moose on W7x64 if that makes any difference). I guess that prompts some questions. How would I know if I'm using MySQL or SQLite? If I am now using SQLite where is Squeezecenter.db? If I'm not using SQLite does anyone know what the Moose error message means? I guess I ought to confess, in case you haven;t already gathered, that despite having run Squeezecenter for several years I'm not a 'technical' user of the system. I just install most updates once they are released and hope it works. It invariably doesn't but I usually muddle a solution. I'm stumped this time though. Thanks for your help. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Moose vs. Rel. 7.5.1
How would I know if I'm using MySQL or SQLite? I'm talking to myself here but I think I can now answer this one as I spotted a line in the Server Settings Information screen: MySQL Version: 5.0.22-community-nt I guess that just leaves question 3 then: If I'm not using SQLite does anyone know what the Moose error message means? Thanks. If I'm not using SQLite does anyone know what the Moose error message means? ...and to conclude this nice little conversation with myself - it's a firewall issue that I'm in the process of resolving. [SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP Command Line Options
Yes I know this isn't strictly a plug-in but I can't see anywhere more relevant to put the question (which I would have put on the MusicIP forum but that seems to have disappeared as well since the takeover). I've just installed Windows 7 on the machine that hosts all our music files and I've then reinstalled MusicIP. I've Googled and I've Googled but I just can't find a list of the command line options for this programme anywhere. Is anyone able to point me at a list please? Thanks. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spicefly SugarCube (Automatic MusicIP DJ)
I thought I'd give SugarCube a spin this morning and I was enjoying listening to tracks as it slowly morphed through our music collection. Then it played a classical piano piece...followed by 18 other classical piano pieces! Now I like the odd bit of classical piano but I can't eat a whole one and 19 on the trot is too many. Is there some setting somewhere I should be playing with to prevent this? Thanks. If it is may I request the design is changed so I can turn off toast but still have the tool-tip please. Thanks. [SlimDevices: Plugins] Moose: toast on mouse over
May I request an enhancement to Moose? As some of my albums and track names are long I frequently get an abbreviated display on the tool tip pop up. Would it be possible to have an option whereby the 'toast' pop up was displayed for system tray mouse over? Thanks. [SlimDevices: Plugins] Moose vs. MySql
I have Moose running on a different machine to SLimserver so is there some magic spell I need to chant to get it to connect to MySQL? I suspect I need to tell it where it is, e.g. machine name? but I've no idea what the syntax is. When I try to connect using the default settings I get the error message 'Problem connecting to MySQL. A request to send or receive data was disallowed because the socket is not connected and (when sending on a datagram socket using a sendto call) no address was supplied. I've tried disabling the firewalls on both machines but that made no difference so it's not firewall related. Any ideas please? Thanks. [SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: Moose vs. MySql
Have you read the MySQL DB section of the Moose configuration page?: http://www.rusticrhino.com/drlovegrove/setup.html Thanks Richard but I've followed all of that. The thing (well one of the things!) I don't understand is as there's nothing there to tell it where the db is, e.g. no computer name, IP address or anything, how does it know where to look? In Moose choose Tools Preferences Server and you can put in the IP address of the server. Oh yes, I'd forgotten about that. It is set, sorry [blushes]. [SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicInfoSCR: Setting Up Multiple Squeezeboxes
That explains why I've had no responses to my last 2 questions that I submitted via the mailing list, they don't actually seem to be making it through. It used to work and I had no bounce so I've no idea why they aren't getting here. Anyway... Three quick (I hope!) questions: I'd like all 3 of my Squeezeboxes to display the same information via the MusicInfoSCR screen saver. Is there anyway to do that without setting them all up individually? Is there a variable for remaining time, i.e. the amount of time the track has left to play? I'd like to display the progress bar and remaining time as my top left display but can't find such a variable. Finally, is there any way to make the font size for both lines of text on the Squeezbox the same? Thanks. This is a core function of slimserver: repeatedly press Now Playing to circle through the different display modes, which include display of remaining time. [color=blue] Michael/QUOTE] Thanks Michael. I didn't know that but it's not quite what I'm trying to do. If I want to display the track title, album and track number at bottom right using MusicInfo.SCR I just put TITLE - ALBUM (TRACKNUM) in the relevant place on the screen. If I want to show the progress bar at top right I just enter PROGRESSBAR in the relevant place. Is there a variable I can use to show the remaining time afterwards? e.g. PROGRESSBAR (Remaining-Time-Variable). Thanks. [SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: SlimScrobbler Log?
Sorry, I did reply to this but it looks like I can't reply via mail in here for some reason (it's held pending moderator approval); works fine in discuss. Anyway, as James said it is their end. The status thread (which I discovered after my post) has been showing the submission server down for some time although batches of updates seem to be going thorough. Thanks for the response James and Siduhe. I know the streaming server is working as I'm listening to it at the moment - doing that always seems to end in me buying new music!
