Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotify Protocol Handler - play Spotify on all your Squeezeboxen

2016-04-21 Thread meowsqueak

I had issues with Triode's Spotify plugin and two synchronised
Squeezebox Boom units, so I thought I'd try the Spotify Protocol Handler
plugin instead. I installed it and the Logitech Spotify app fine, and a
single unit will play happily. However when I synchronise the two units,
the sound cuts out after a few seconds, each unit struggles to play,
then there's long periods of silence. Sometimes the track skips to the
next track in the playlist. Looking at the
/var/log/squeezeboxserver/spotifyd.log file, I see similar errors to
what I reported here:

is that correct?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2016-04-21 Thread meowsqueak

I have an issue when I'm running two Squeezebox Boom's with Triode's
Spotify plugin in synchronised mode. This seemed to work for a while (a
few weeks), but now I notice that the music often cuts out after a few
seconds, and sometimes skips to the next track. It's almost unplayable,
however at times it will play happily for 5-10 minutes without issue. I
thought it might be related to the wireless network, but I've ensured
that signal strength is OK, and each player will play fine on its own.
Then I noticed that the cut-out effect is just like what happens when
I'm playing Spotify on my phone and someone else in the family starts it
up elsewhere - Spotify cuts one of the devices off, which then auto-logs
in again, causing the other to cut out. I wonder if this is what is
happening here?

Can anyone confirm whether this is the case? Is it possible to
synchronise two players to one Spotify stream with one premium account,
or is a Family account required?

I've looked in /var/log/squeezeboxserver/spotifyd.log during these
outages and I notice that each player results in a "newstream connection
from X.X.X.X" when starting to play a track. Then, when things start to
go wrong "relogin requested" and "resetting streambuf" will appear, and
sometimes "logged out" followed by "relogging in as user:". This doesn't
always happen, but it does seem related. I also see "ChannelError(0, 1,
link-tracks)" occasionally.

If I turn off synchronisation, a single player will play 100% fine, with
the other off. The log remains silent until the next track.

I think you're right - this is a relatively new feature for Spotify. I
encountered this myself just the other day after converting all of my
playlists to "albums", only to then discover that this plugin doesn't
show saved albums, unless you have saved them via the plugin itself (and
that seems to be a separate list not available through Spotify anyway).

As much as it pains me to say "me too", I would like to convey my
appreciation for the plugin and second this request for new
functionality, please.

It's ok, as I mentioned at the bottom of my post, it was caused by
Spotify creating two accounts and logging me into the wrong one in my
web browser (I suspect due to a cookie or session issue). I
inadvertently upgraded the wrong account to Premium - even though I had
logged in with that username/password, it actually picked up the
Facebook account instead. I've resolved the issue by switching the
Premium membership over to the username/password account. Thanks for
responding, and thank you for the plugin, it's working fine!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2013-10-04 Thread meowsqueak

As a long-time Squeezebox user but first-time Spotify user, I thought
I'd give this plugin a try. I created a username/password account on
Spotify, and then signed up for the 30-day Premium trial. As far as I
can tell, this has all gone through correctly and the Spotify website
now considers me a Premium customer.

I disabled the Official Spotify Plugin in LMS and installed the Triode
plugin. This seems to have been successful, as I can access the plugin's
setting screen.

I add my username and password, and clicked Apply. I've also restarted
LMS just for good measure.

The problem is that the helper app (and
/var/log/squeezeboxserver/spotifyd.log) now reports:

log_message:80 log: 21:56:44.643 I [offline_authorizer.cpp:289]
Unable to login offline: no such user
log_message:80 log: 21:56:44.643 I [ap:1766] Connecting to AP
ap.spotify.com:4070
log_message:80 log: 21:56:44.838 I [ap:1224] Connected to AP:
194.68.29.67:4070
log_message:80 log: 21:56:45.348 E [ap:4097] Connection error: 409
logged_in:50 logged in error: Needs a premium account
logged_out:60 logged out

As far as I can tell, the username and password are correct, because if
I change either slightly I get a different error: "Bad username and/or
password".

I've tried restarting LMS, and also running the Self Test, which fails
on "Not Logged In" and "Failed To Retrieve Metadata".
