Thanks for the analysis thus far. I gather I will have to think about
upgrading Slimserver to the latest version for MIS or other more recent
plug-ins to work...
Cheers,

Hmm... earlier in this thread you said it didn't crash. I'm confused.

Anyway. I don't see anything in the logs. OTOH I fear it simply does not
work in 6.2.1. This version is more than a year old. The plugin version
you're using is almost a year younger, which means it was tested with

It's the latter ie: Slimserver stops running as soon as MIS is

No.

Assuming you're playing some music, does the playback stop when you
activate MusicInfoSCR? What I'm interested in is whether you think
SlimServer had switched off because it doesn't display anything (which
could be a simple problem with MusicInfoSCR), or if SlimServer seriously
encounters an unexpected state, breaking more than just the display.

So... can you play music with MIS activated (eg. through the web
interface)?

You see the "Connecting to SlimServer..." message after you've switched to
MIS?

Please make sure you've activated d_plugins and send me the lines created
while you're playing with MIS. I'm really confused about what's happening
with your installation...

Michael,

Slimserver stopped by itself when MusicInfoSCR screensaver is activated
. It does not crash but it will not allow Slimserver to start until I
change the screensaver back to "Now Playing"

> Don't you see anything on the player's display?
Yes, it attempts to connect to my PC but drops off & goes blank when
it's not successful

Only what has been described above.

Yes, I have.

I think we have to get some things a little more precise...

- what do you mean by "SlimServer switches off"? Does it crash? Don't you
see anything on the player's display? Do you get an error message of any
kind?

- what do you mean by "allow me to activate play"?

- "Slim is connected"? The SB is connected to the server? This means the
server has not crashed?

Did you configure MusicInfoSCR at all? Go to Player Settings/Plugins to
make sure you've configured some item to be displayed. I'm not sure
whether in that "old" version there was a default configuration.

Slimserver switches itself off when I select MusicInfoSCR & click on
"change". It will not allow me to activate play even when Slim is
connected ie: each time I do this, it switches itself off.

Yes, re: ""slim.exe -d_plugins --logfile=slimserver.log", I will try
this later when I 'm home.

And did the server crash? I can't see evidence of a problem here. Was
there any more output on the command line? (I meant running "slim.exe

thanks for the file (although I don't have Excel on my computer ;-)). From
those screenshots I can't find anything special regarding MusicInfoSCR.
OTOH your slimserver fails to load DynamicPlaylist.

In your very first posting in this thread you mentioned slimserver
crashing as soon as you selected MusicInfoSCR. Could you please reproduce
this and send me the logs from the crash? By adding
--logfile=slimserver.log you can have slimserver save the log file to your
disc - no need to do screenshots. This file can be uploaded to the forum.

Thanks!

Could you run slimserver with the d_plugins parameter? Shut down your
slimserver, and run "slim.exe -d_plugins" from the command line. You
should then get some information about the plugin loading.

Make sure you take the version for pre 6.5.x SlimServers

[SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicInfoSCR could not start?

2007-04-06 Thread ipy

I tried to switch from "Now Playing" to "Music Info Screensaver" under
Players Settings & each time I does this, it switches off SlimServer.

I 'm running SlimServer Version: 6.2.1 & I have downloaded/installed

Any suggestions? I suspect the latest MusicInfoSCR.pm version might
not work with SlimServer Version: 6.2.1 & if so any info I can download
the version (older) which will work?

Thanks,
