For me, when I search I (think I) get entries, but they are all invisible (i.e. you can't see them - but double clicking does play songs). This is on Windows. For me, when I search I (think I) get entries, but they are all invisible (i.e. you can't see them - but double clicking does play songs). I'd rather say you were able to click non existent entries. This was a bug: I was too optimistic and did not check boundaries. If there was at least one entry left in the list, the first would have been played. If the list was empty, there should have been an exception (in the black hole DOS window). Should be fixed in the next release. How about a right-click interface for the playlist screen, that brings up a menu: Playlist management is next on my todo list. Last night I added the few lines to play another song from the list with a double click. Wow, if I continue in that pace, we'll see drag'n'drop by the end of the year :-). Repeat All/Current/None Shuffle Songs/Albums/None I planned to have them on the now playing screen. But I guess some of the controls will be in both places. Delete selected song Move selected song to top of que Yep. On the very top of the todo list. How about an option to hide the cmd window? I can't get anything but the exit key to work on my windows smartphone and the window size is a bit too big. Otherwise it updates correctly and displays a portion of the album cover. Wow, it's running on a smartphone :-) What's the screen resolution? And how do you connect to the network? I have to admit that I didn't put much effort in screens smaller than PDA (240*320). I'm switching to a pocketpc soon so its not a big deal but I saw this on the EWE forum and it might apply. Not sure if this is something you want to tackle but here it is... Very interesting. Maybe I am doing something wrong but it appears that smartphone support is someting you have to code differently. Correct me if I am wrong. From what you've quoted you're right. Looks like a better choice for that kind of app. Is there a way to launch smartremote without opening another command line window in the background? When I launch the GUI it also launches a 'DOS' type window showing EWE runtime information. I haven't figured out a way to kill it or launch it as a background service (e.g. no CMD window) As I mentioned in another posting there shouldn't be a console window. If it is, then please give me the output and, if possible, a description on what action it showed up. These are error messages I should care about. I just uploaded a slightly enhanced and bug fixed version to my site. How about a right-click interface for the playlist screen, that brings up a menu: Not quite there yet, but you can already double click a playlist entry to play it immediately. How about an option to hide the cmd window? I've removed the remaining debug messages and fixed some bugs which caused that window. Other changes: - improve progress bar to display playtime for radio streams, too - remove some unneeded pictures - Fix issue with radio streams reporting zero playtime I appreciate your efforts! I am anxious to see if I can get this running on my ePods (http://www.geocities.com/epodsfiles/index.html), which runs WinCE V2.11 (very old) on a MIPS CPU. Currently, I run a version of the handheld skin (you developed that, didn't you?) which I have made some mostly cosmetic modifications to so that it takes advantage of the large screen and many colors supported on the ePods ... it looks great, but Internet Explorer (V4) performance on the ePods is very poor ... I am curious to see how this compares. I tried installing the MIPS version of Ewe, it installed but wouldn't run (getting the Cannot find Ewe or one of its components error). I've posted a question on the Ewe forum to see if I might be able to get this working. If I do, I'll let you know how it looks/works! Does SlimRemote use the SlimServer settings for album/artist/compilation behavior? Not sure if this is something you want to tackle but here it is... ...you will have to change you GUI to be Smartphone aware. Smartphones do not generally have touch screens so if you are in a situation where the cursor key cannot navigate to a button, then the Smartphone user will not be able to activate it. Remember you can simpulate a smartphone on your desktop by using the /s option with the VM and in your code you can use Gui.isSmartphone value to determine if the application is running on a smartphone. Basically in the code that is creating the forms look at the variable Gui.isSmartPhone. If it is true then you should re-arrange your Form so that it fits better on the small screen - probably double line your input fields and don't put multi-line text inputs (since they capture the up/down keys and won't let you switch to another field). Also you would then want to use the softkey menu system instead of a menu bar or a set of buttons to accept commands. Actually - generally the way you would write smartphone applications is so different (in terms of UI) that you may want to have two versions of the application to cut down on the size of the application classes (otherwise half the UI code would be used on one platform and the other half on the other platform). Also - if the user says that he can't get the cursor keys to work even though they do work using the '/s' options - then send me the .ewe file and I'll confirm on my smartphone and maybe find out why it may be working differently - I've always found it to work the same on my smartphone as with the '/s' option. Maybe I am doing something wrong but it appears that smartphone support is someting you have to code differently. Correct me if I am wrong. Looks really cool..nice work! There's a big difference between my Pentium M 1.5GHz and the Zaurus. But it's mainly the GUI that is redrawn slowly. As most of the search and browsing logic is done on the server, speed in navigating through the music collection mainly depends on the latter, not the client. I experienced big improvements when I moved from SQLite to MySQL (about 30% faster response times on a Via C3/1GHz). I've posted a question on the Ewe forum to see if I might be able to get this working. If I do, I'll let you know how it looks/works! Thanks for doing so.
