Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SlimNAS fails to start after install on FreeNAS

2012-03-09 Thread ryann.neilson

Thank you. I have tried this;
perl slimserver.pl --user=www --d_startup --debug server=debug
and it states that there are permission issues with many of the .pm
file located within the /mnt/data/mediaserver/squeezebox/ directory
and sub-directory system, and not being able to open and save files.
I tried;
chmod -R 777 to the directory and
chown -R www:www to the directory
and it is still is giving permission issues when running the cmd
above. This is being done in shell on the server, and not done
remotely.
Perl does does not seem to be operating on the processes status page,
would this be correct?

The permission issues aren't on the installation folder, but the etc and

/mnt/data/mediaserver/etc/

chmod them too.

Hello

I have just upgraded to FreeNas 0,7,2 and it went seamlessly. I tried
to upgrade to slim server 7,7,1 or now called logitech media server
7,7,1. I have down loaded the two files new files from Michael's

install the media server. I am using the following platform;
i386-full on Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.20GHz with FreeNas version
0,7,2
Any suggestions where I could start looking.

Thanks, Ryan

I had some problems with GEOM Raid5 before and had to use ZFS instead.
I was told that AMD64 is better for ZFS but soon realized that your
slimnas doesn't work on it :(

Thanks anyway for creating the slimnas extension for freenas. Looks
awesome from the screenshots. I'm surprised that not a lot of people
uses freenas+SBS combo.

Hi,

Thanks for giving it a try. Sounds like there's a chance to get SBS up
and running after all.

I tried a number of files. Based on your post I gave 7.5.2 a try.
Here's a more detailed description of what I tried:

* Downloaded squeezeboxserver-7.5.2.tgz from
http://www.mysqueezebox.com/download and copied it to the installation
folder.
* Opened the freenas web interface, navigated to Extensions -
Squeezebox server
* Changed Keep existing to squeezeboxserver-7.5.2.tgz.
* Saved
* After a while I get The changes have been applied successfully. and
Squeezebox Server is starting but not ready yet. Please check again in
a bit When I update the status I get Squeezebox Server is not
available. Please note that it might take a minute or more for the
service to be available after a restart. Please refresh this page to
check the status again.

I have no idea what goes wrong here. Is there a log file or something I
could inspect?

If I try to start slimserver.pl directly I get:

freenas:/mnt/wasabi/slimnas/slimserver# perl slimserver.pl
The following modules failed to load: DBI DBD::mysql EV
XML::Parser::Expat HTML::Parser JSON::XS Digest::SHA1 YAML::Syck GD

NOTE:

If you're running some unsupported Linux/Unix platform, please use the
buildme.sh
script located here:

You should never need to do this if you're on Windows or Mac OSX. If
the installers
don't work for you, ask for help and/or report a bug.

If 7.5 is outdated by the time you read this, Replace 7.5 with the
major version
of Squeezebox Server you are running.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SlimNAS fails to start after install on FreeNAS

2010-09-18 Thread Danny8

I too am having trouble getting SlimNAS to start using 0.7.2. It appears
to install OK but it cannot start. I haven't delved into permissions or
log files. My first thought was to revert to 7.1 because I successfully
used 0.7.1 last night on a different computer. I'm still having problems
though.

My quick question is: -Does it matter what kind of file system my
*slimnas* folder resides on?-

I successfully installed SlimNAS/Squeezebox Server on my other computer
last night. That computer, an older computer, runs FreeNAS 0.7.1 with a
different hard drive. The computer was set up previously to boot from a
CF with v. 0.685; it upgraded to 0.7.1 without a hitch. Those shared
partitions were UFS-formatted.

The only thing I did differently (as far as I remember) is use a disk
with NTFS partitions on the new FreeNAS build. The new build is an Atom
(64-bit) but that shouldn't matter as long as FreeNAS boots, right?

Thanks in advance for any reply.

So as I posted earlier it seems that the latest version of SlimNAS works
on FreeNAS 7.1 but 7.2 does fix some issues for me relating to my use of
ZFS so I would really like to get SlimNAS and Squeezecenter running
under FreeNAS 7.2.

As such I went into my squeezebox directory and ran

Code:

The output indicates that it is having trouble loading required
modules. I can see the *.pm files in the proper directory structures
so I am not sure why they are failing to load. Is there anything else
I can try to attempt to debug this?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] SlimNAS fails to start after install on FreeNAS

2010-07-21 Thread mrhenderson

Hello,

I followed the instructions on herger.net using the following files:

slimnas.tgz (v2.0.1)
squeezeboxserver-7.5.1.tgz
slimnas-install.sh (from herger.net)

I am running a full install of FreeNAS 0.7.2 Sabanda (revision 5255)

Everything seems to go well except at step 12-13ish, the web page I see
is slightly different in that it shows a radio button for selecting both
SlimNAS as well as squeezebox server. After selecting the server file
and saving I can see that the files are extracted to my share. But the
startup says it fails. I don't see a log file under the
slimnas/var/Logs directory and I never see a process.

Anyone else have a similar issue with these later versions of
FreeNAS/SlimNAS?

Thanks.

Are you trying to install the 64-bit version? This wouldn't be compatible
with SlimNAS.

SlimNAS has not been tested with 0.7.2 yet. As it's moving from FreeBSD
7.2 to 7.3 as the code base there might be compatibility issue. I'd
suggest you give the officially release 0.7.1 a try first.
