Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 3.x - Spotify Podcasts on your Squeezebox
Was anything ever done to allow the Spotty listening port (or range of ports) to be defined? I'm hitting the same issue as tbali - I want to run the LMS behind a firewall and don't really want to open up the entire 32000-65535 range. You could give the --zeroconf-port a try. Fantastic! I also had the "jumping out of my seat when switching from local files to Spotty" to the point that I had given up on using Don't Stop the Music > Spotify Recommendations (based on the current playlist). Just tested the tip on disabling volume normalisation and it worked...no longer making the exhausting 6-foot walk to adjust the volume on the amp. :) Steve radish112's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11591 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111217 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I tried port forwarding rules on my router for 4070 and 5353, tried them You should NEVER have to open forwarding rules. That's either the wrong term you're using, or the wrong direction. You have to make sure spotty can reach the internet on those ports. Forwarding usually is to reach internal systems from the internet. Enable logging for plugin.spotty. You should then find the command used to get the token in your server.log. Try to run the same from the command line and report back what that gives. -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

experiencing the same, but spotty is not as reliable as chromecast when using casting direct from phones (using spotty through the material client works perfectly) however the kids all want to cast from phone Unfortunately about every other posting here is reporting this, and my response remains the same: I'm sorry to say that Connect mode isn't as robust as it should be. But I haven't found a way to improve it yet. Also as per a previous post very randomly the "Do not broacast players" has got checked by itself in the Spotty settings, which seems unlikely as things dont do it by itself, but I cant explain how it has become checked? This, too, has been explained many times before: if there's a conflict running discovery (other applications might be doing the same), this feature is disabled. Which unfortunately means you won't see all players in your network, but only those connected to your account. -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 3.x - Spotify Podcasts on your Squeezebox
Hi Michael, firstly thanks for all your work on Spotty, much appreciated. Spotty has become an essential piece of house software, with all rooms setup with pcp and hifi berry dacs/amps. In previous years we were happy using playlists and the LMS music, but Spotify has become king, and really the only way we listen to music. Hence the post, I am want to know if it is just my setup or others are experiencing the same, but spotty is not as reliable as chromecast when using casting direct from phones (using spotty through the material client works perfectly) however the kids all want to cast from phone now. Symptons are, the players will not appear sometimes, they will play for a while then stop, will appear but then just not connect and stream. It is random (as far as I can tell) if a player gets turned on (and they are synchronised in LMS) it stops play and often cant reconnect. I have tried many things, messed about with the network, rebuilt the LMS server, updated all pcp players to v5, kept an eye on the log file, but cant pin anything down. To try and debug I have rebuilt a pi with raspotify and it works perfectly, completely rock solid casting with phone. Anyone else having these issues, any ideas of what I can do to try and debug? Also as per a previous post very randomly the "Do not broacast players" has got checked by itself in the Spotty settings, which seems unlikely as things dont do it by itself, but I cant explain how it has become checked? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 3.x - Spotify Podcasts on your Squeezebox
In Lms perfect. On connect mode some time blocks, lag, stop, start and stop and start and stop, problem. I want to solve! Can we work together? Would be great if you could track this down... it's all on github: https://github.com/michaelherger/Spotty-Plugin https://github.com/michaelherger/spotty The problem is there are two systems who want to be in control of playback: LMS and Spotify. Therefore I have to make sure that if Spotify tells me to play track X, I sync this with LMS, and the other way around. Now there's the problem: the code has to make sure it accepts control from both ends. But never propagate changes back to the source, as this could trigger yet another state change... Some of this behaviour isn't "scientific", as there's no documentation. So this really is something between Spotify, librespot, and Spotty. -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 3.x - Spotify Podcasts on your Squeezebox
But if I use LMS and spotty to play a song, desktop and mobile apps does not recognize and update it automatically and if I want to control the playback I first must choose squeezebox player from connected devices and then the playback interrupts. You have to enable Connect mode for every player in Settings/Player/Spotty. You can then control it from the Spotify app. But please note that in Connect mode Spotify would only allow you to play on one single device. Either your phone OR your computer OR a Squeezebox. In LMS mode you can't control playback through their apps. -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Within the past 4 weeks or so, the Spotty plugin stopped working for me. I have LMS 7.9.2 (most recent build). The behavior is that when clicking on the Spotty menu entry, nothing happens, and occasionally locks up the Transporter completely (doesn't respond to any remote control commands.) Hello, Sorry if this has been discussed before. When I start playing spotify on my iPhone, my desktop recognizes it and allows me to control my iphone playback via spotify desktop software. But if I use LMS and spotty to play a song, desktop and mobile apps does not recognize and update it automatically and if I want to control the playback I first must choose squeezebox player from connected devices and then the playback interrupts. Disabling Ogg direct for Spotty (SPT -> OGG) solved the issue. I already had normalization Off - that didn't seem to matter. Thanks. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 3.x - Spotify Podcasts on your Squeezebox
It seems recently that the Spotty volume drops after pausing a track for even a few seconds. Its sounds almost 1/2 as loud on resume. I think this is due to transcoding: by default Spotty would stream Ogg directly to the player (if possible). When pausing or seeking it would use PCM/FLAC instead. And one of these formats seems to respect replaygain, while the other doesn't. Or similar. If you want to always have the same volume level, either turn off normalization, or disable Ogg direct for Spotty (SPT -> OGG). -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

It seems recently that the Spotty volume drops after pausing a track for even a few seconds. Its sounds almost 1/2 as loud on resume. I saw some posts a few years back, in this thread, about this, but those claim it was resolved. Maybe the issue has returned? I have volume fixed @ 100% (volume is controlled in other ways), no crossfade, not track or album gain adjustments set. Any ideas? Ok - I have been streaming using Spotty to my SB Touch, with the default buffer size selected using the EDO applet. This time when it happened, LMS v8.0 generated the following: thread 'main' panicked at 'called `Result::unwrap()` on an `Err` value: Custom { kind: Other, error: StringError("bytes remaining on stream") }', src/libcore/result.rs:997:5 note: Run with `RUST_BACKTRACE=1` environment variable to display a backtrace. Sorry, I missed your answer to my question before making my last post about Qobuz ... so, then this issue could occur with any streaming service plugin? Not sure, tbh. But the message you posted previousl point into a totally differen direction anyway. Something about XML parsing failure. Failing to parse track information could certainly bring playback to an end. -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

OK, now something that at first looks similar happened while streaming from Qobuz to a player on my laptop, gmediarender, I came to the end of a track, and the track time remaining began flashing "-00:00" as I have seen happen with Spotty. LMS began giving the following error message repeatedly: [22:06:56.051327] XMLGetFirstDocumentItem:182 (BUG) ixmlNode_getFirstChild(tmpNode) returned NULL [22:07:00.984111] XMLGetFirstDocumentItem:182 (BUG) ixmlNode_getFirstChild(tmpNode) returned NULL [22:07:06.024427] XMLGetFirstDocumentItem:182 (BUG) ixmlNode_getFirstChild(tmpNode) returned NULL As soon as I hit the "Next track" button, it proceeded onward like nothing had happened. We seem to be stuck fetching metadata for the last track we just played, It's not "stuck". It's just some UI polling for track information. When the Spotify stream stalls, I simply hit the "Next Track" button in the skin, and we are back to playing again.
