Sorry for slow response - I didn't get notified of your input - sorry.

It's difficult to tell. The connection drops out and starts to
rebuffer, which takes a few seconds.

It's the only service that does this, LastFM, Deezer, even direct URL
streaming work fine. :s

Your other services are not likely to be using Flac.

Try disabling RTSP-Flac in Settings/Advanced/Filetypes and make sure
you have lame installed. This will use MP3 which has less bandwidth
requirements.

Alternatively do a network test and make sure your SB3 can get about
1500kbps sustained for 10 minutes at 100%.

2008-12-16 Thread yockers

Hi Ur[s]uS

Great advice, which I followed to the letter. In fact I'd already done
much of this in search of my issue, but hadn't enabled the multicast
setting (duh).

Anyways, I too have the cursed DIR-655 (which I'd previosly been very
pleased with until this issue). What I find happens is that AlienBBC
will connect fine, but breaks up every second, making it useless.

I've increased buffer settings to no avail.

Any ideas anyone ?

Thanks in anticipation,

Phil

Describe the problem in more detail as that can indicate the source
ofthe problem

For example.

1. Stuttering with no loss of content (i.e. gaps but audio is
continuous) usually means a problem with SC server or connection
between SC and SB

2. Stuttering with loss of content (i.e. gaps but audio is missing)
usually means a problem between SC and BBC.

2008-11-09 Thread Ur[s]uS

 Slim::Player::TranscodingHelper::getConvertCommand (300) Error: Didn't
find any command matches for type: rtsppl format: mp3

I have just spent about 6 hours finding, then troubleshooting this
error. I've Kubuntu 8.04, Slimserver 7.2.1 stable main, AlienBBC
2.2b1.

I have become familiar with chown and chmod, making sure squeezecenter
owns (it had been owned by root) and could execute mplayer.sh and other
Alien directory files etc. I also changed the radio station network
timeout setting in squeezecenter to 30, rather than 5.

One thing that puzzled me was whether it was necessary to download
tarball for mplayer and confiugre/make/make install that programme or
whether install from synaptic using the medibuntu repository was
enough. I've changed so much, I'm no longer sure, but I think I
settled on the medibuntu download and that works perfectly. There is
no need for ws32codecs. I installed lame too, but not entirely sure
that was necessary.

Turns out, the main problem appears to have been my router. D-Link
DIR-655. It has firewall that appears to reject RTSP streams. You
have to turn off application level gateway (ALG) for RTSP in the
firewall settings. However, this was not enough for me. I also had to
enable multicast. After all of this, I now have alienbbc running on my
linux box again.

Thanks to all on this thread and the following threads:

http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49363

I thought I'd mark the issue and apparent resolution here, in ease of
others searching the forum.

Okay, I'm sure that that is good advice. However, it has not been

The permission of AlienBBC on the shell script changed in 2.2 - not

Hope that helps someone else!

Hi there,

I am also running Ubuntu 8/Squeezecenter 7.2 - is the RTSP error
something like this:

[08-09-18 21:47:26.9903]
Slim::Player::TranscodingHelper::getConvertCommand (300) Error: Didn't
find any command matches for type: rtsppl format: mp3

I only ask, as I can no longer listen to BBC live streams (Listen Again
works fine) - this happened a week or so ago, and the upgrade to
AlienBBC 2.02 has not cured it. I have tried chmod a+x for mplayer.sh,
but this makes no difference.

If this is the RTSP error people were referring to earlier, I shall
have a deeper look at file permissions. Alternatively, if it's
something else, it's head-scratching time...

Cheers,

Gavin

a problem with mplayer.sh will affect both Listen Again and Live
streams and if the problem started before 2.02 was installed then it
is definitely not mplayer.sh related.

What is the valuye of your Radio Station Timeout ? - it is under
Settings/Advanced/network .

If it is less than 20 - change it to 30 or 40 and see if it makes a
difference.

I'm just trying to understand how people install and run plugins.

Previous version has world execute and this is the difference.
Nautilus was probably running under a user id which is not the owner or
a member of group assigned to mplayer.sh

It seems that users install the plugin files with an ownership
different to the process (and possibly the rest of SC files) that is
running SC. It seems inconsistent and possibly could result in odd
permissions bugs.
