I have compiled the current version with lang/gcc/3.3 I have also ported 2.00.1 in the past for my own use, converting strcpy, strcat and other functions. If I port the current version and create patches for it, would an update to the main port be desired, or would it be better to create a net/tintin++2 branch in the tree? Probably, try to update the current port. This is my first attempt at doing any such thing for the project so forgive any perceived ignorance.
Re: UPDATE: java/junit 3.8.2 == 4.8.2 (plus databases/postgresql-jdbc)
So, is junit4 going to be a separate port or what's going on? I was the one holding out for junit3 and 4 ports, but on thinking about it, anybody that's truly dependant on 3.8 will likely have it and the other jars that depend on 3.8 cached in their project source/lib directory anyway, so maybe it's OK to just have junit4. At he least it might encourage somebody to upgrade their test suite :-) In that case, would my diff be the way to move forward (and adjust jeoip/postgresql-jdbc where needed (build-wise))? Yes. Say no to version numbers ;-) I was trying to test your junit4 diff with latest postgresql-jdbc yesterday but ran into problems checking out postgresql-jdbc... Specifically, I couldn't get Class.forName(org.postgresql.Driver); I will try it later today... See diff to postgresql-jdbc below (please note that you also need the recently committed change in pre-regress, which removed the createlang bits). Everything just works. this can go in today! I will rm -rf postgresql-jdbc in github/openbsd-wip thanks what do you guys think of having RUN_DEPENDS on databases-postgresql for the databases/postgresql-jdbc port? No. The java client doesn't need postgresql (neither the server nor the client). -perl multi-packages
Hi, Do we have a stance or policy one way or another with respect to -perl sub-packages. They tend to go well with many ports that have other similar sub-packages, but it's somewhat of a mix. Since perl is in base, should we 'guide' towards no -perl sub-packages? Or the other way? Or allow the porter to choose completely? Recently creating a -perl sub-package, it would seem I have an opinion, but I really could go either way. Thoughts? Cheers, Okan

I need some quirks help for print/lout
Hi, after a run of pkg_check(8), i noticed that print/lout creates some files not mentioned in the plist, so I tried to clean it up a little bit by running lout -x at fake time instead of using the @exec line in pkg/PLLIST-main (the files created by that lout -x llne don't contain any paths, and there's indeed no binary diff in the created files). See diff below. However, the two @unexec lines in the old pkg/PLIST-main don't get fired during update (because they come too early). MULTI_PACKAGES is where you can split a package up e.g. if it has plugin modules or language bindings which don't all need to be present. It's useful for reducing the set of required dependencies. Think e.g. something with mysql/pgsql/sqlite support in 3 separate plugins. FLAVOR is where a file is built differently depending on build options, e.g. to carry on the example, if rather than modules, db support is compiled right into the main binary. For PLISTs you can use PFRAG with %%flavor%% markers in PLIST. Look for existing multi-flavour ports for examples. In this case I guess this filename probably does not change so you override what update-plist does and leave the filename as AkonadiTargetsWithPrefix-release.cmake

Just ignore update-plist's changes in this case, it's a useful tool but not perfect; flavours are one area where it's quite easily confused.
opera-next
hi there, here is a quick and dirty port of opera-next http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/2011/09/02/new-wahoo-12-00-build-with-updated-core-and-speed-dial it installs into /usr/local/opera-next and uses $HOME/.opera-next as personal dir, so it can be easily tested parallel to existing installations. functionality is no more than a beam of hope at the moment. if it does not freeze up after some initial dns requests, a well known issue with veteran opera users, (i simply kill -9 and try again) it seems to be working until it crashes with $ /usr/local/opera-next/bin/opera-next opera: no fonts found among preferred font formats, trying pcf fonts opera: no fonts found among known formats, trying to add all fonts /usr/local/opera-next/lib/opera-next/opera-next: symbol lookup error: /usr/local/opera-next/lib/opera-next/opera-next: undefined symbol: FT_Outline_Embolden this point inevitably always comes, probably when a page requests the given rendering type that in my guess, the fedora lib's libfreetype does not understand. btw. 11.51 crashes with the same error, so i think if this issue can be solved, 11.51 could become an official port perhaps. -f -- there's no second chance for a good first impression. opera-next.tgz Description: application/tar-gz

Re: NEW: x11/parcellite (lightweight GTK+ clipboard manager)
On Tue, Sep 06, 2011 at 12:55:13PM -0400, Lawrence Teo wrote: $ cat pkg/DESCR Parcellite is a lightweight GTK+ clipboard manager. This is a stripped down, basic-features-only clipboard manager with a small memory footprint for those who like simplicity. Features * Keeps a clipboard history. * Various view options to display items the way you like it. * Daemon mode; guard your clipboard contents when you close applications. * Global hotkeys to display your items quickly. * Perform custom commands using clipboard contents. Some things that are nice about Parcellite include daemon mode (parcellite -d -n ) where you can access the clipboard history at any time with Ctrl+Alt+H, which is useful for tiling window managers without panels. It can also sync your clipboards. Tested on i386. More testing on other platforms and window managers would be appreciated. :) Aaron Bieber and Jonathan Armani reported that the parcellite.1 manpage was broken... oops! Here's a corrected port to fix the manpage with a patch. Aaron confirmed that the port works on amd64 (with the awesome window manager), while Jonathan tested on i386 with scrotwm. Thank you both for testing! More tests welcome... :) Thank you, Lawrence parcellite.tar.gz Description: application/tar-gz
