Re: Robbie/Tim Carroll
R Tim Carroll is a fellow Nashvegan who is signed to Sire. He moved here about five years ago from NYC he had an extremely well known band called the Blue Chieftains. These guys were doing alt. Country in the late 80's early 90's. I played a show with Tim and met him in 91' at a club called Graffiti in PGH. I believe he also did a stint with Lucinda on guitar although I could be wrong on that. He's the real deal. Checkout his song "Punk rock, honky tonk girl". Too bad Sire is dropping the ball again. Naturally, as I attempted to play them, they were both beyond even moderate fidelity. Does anyone out there have either/both of these on CD or better cassette that they can dub for me? I'll be glad to pay cost. Thanks. Mitch Matthews Gravel Train/Sunken Road nnp (now not playing): Del Lords
Re: LEGAL-FINANCIAL ADVICE for Twangfest
Tom I would suggest that the band/musician get a EIN #. Essentially a SS# for your company(band). We get paid by check almost every show. 10-12 a month. Thats how we do it and it makes keeping the books straight easier. I'd be interested in hearing how P2 musicians handle clubs which demand that a band representative provide a SS# before payment for a gig. (Years ago, one of my associates got audited and the IRS did not accept even his cancelled checks that other band members got paid for a particular gig. Since hearing this, we've "spread the pain around" - just in case . . . ) Tom Smith
